Wasn't the 12th the alleged day for the summit anyways? Maybe that's what he's refering to, he just knows when the summit is going down, not what's going to happen at it as the end result. My guess anyways.

We'd actually been hearing 19th, but I personally think it makes more sense to do it now (or a few days ago, as I boldly predicted in another thread). Kaz Hirai's in the US for CES, and we've been hearing buzz that the Japanese bosses (Hirai and others) had a big problem with the way Sony Pictures has been handling Spidey. I think it makes sense that he'd want to be involved, and why not save a trip? He's here now. Do the Spidey Summit.

I think the people on reddit were saying something about the Japanese bosses at Sony being upset. I hope this is true and they push for the deal to happen with Marvel.

Marvel would love to get full rights back; but realistically, I don't think that's what Marvel is proposing. They just want to include Spidey in their world, and help Sony with the creativity/story, direction to move the character, and expand Spidey's world a little....all while sharing some of the cost/profits. They have not been asking for rights back, or even taking on the full cost of a Spidey franchise.

I think they will reach a shared agreement, only depending on, how much of a percentage & control, Sony is willing to relinquish. It's as simple as that.

Yes, you're absolutely right. What makes this whole "Spider-Man in the MCU" deal believable is that it's not about Sony selling the rights back like with Ghost Rider. It's about a shared deal between the two. Think of this... James Bond is no longer just an MGM property. Both Sony and MGM work together on the Bond films and the franchise is essentially a shared property. So I can imagine something similar happening with Spidey.

We also won't have to wait all the way till 2019/2020 to get a new Spidey movie. (I get the feeling Marvel would shelf Spidey if they got the full rights back).

So when would the guy be posting on Latino review?

I thought it might be in some American Timezone but is that where the website is based?

True. The only reason why Marvel would not shelve Spider-Man now is because Sony needs to have the film released sooner if it's going to be a shared property. Though Kevin Feige is himself a comic book fan and you can tell that he really wants to get Spidey in on this Infinity Wars (which is basically a Marvel event movie at this point).

He said he wouldn't post anything until after the weekend. So Monday is the earliest, but expect it sometime this week.

True Spider2099

I think it's defintely a scoop on spidey based on the wording of his tweets the last few days

Yeah, it's probably about Spider-Man. Let's just hope that:

1) His scoop is good news for those who want Spidey in the MCU
2) That what he's saying turns out true (if it's good news)

I think he's scared another news source like deadline may jump on it before he does so I'd place all bets on Monday

He should just write this story tonight then. I'm pretty sure I've seen online internet sites post breaking news over the weekend before. But whatever, just one more day I suppose.

So this guy on Twitter is going to reveal his scoop tomorrow? I highly doubt it...

If it's from Latino Review, then I wouldn't believe it at all lol

Anyways, fingers crossed that all of these rumors have been nothing but bs.

Have to disagree with you on this one. If starting over with Marvel and a new Spidey to get a quality film means dropping Garfield, then so be it. I liked his version of the character, but not enough to continue to see Sony drag Spidey through their destructive path.

Ehh. Agree to disagree. Sony's proven themselves in my eyes, so I'd definitely rather have them back with Garfield than to reboot again with Marvel.

A huge pipedream of mine is for Sony and Marvel to trade the Spider-man movie and animation rights. And then for Sony to get Greg Weisman and his team to do Spectacular Spider-man seasons 3-5. He's available now that he's not doing that Star Wars show.

Noooooooo. I loved the Spectacular Spider-Man but in my opinion, it's not worth losing the Amazing Spider-Man franchise over.

Just my opinion though.

Personally I'm more interested in excising the ASM movies themselves than Garfield personally. That said though I don't think he really nailed the part of Spider-man. He wasn't awful by any means, but I wasn't always enamoured with the performance. At this point I'm ready to accept ASM as done and Garfield as having moved on also.

This X10000. Getting TSSM back on television while Marvel gets to do their version of Spider-man would be the perfect trade.

I agree with you. I like Andrew a lot, but the TASM series at this point is garbage to me. Garfield isn't enough for me to want Sony to continue the series. I'm very unsatisfied with what we've seen in the past two films.

Me too....I'm ready to move on to whatever is next.

I may have to release my opening scene to my Sinister Six story....it may change your mind.

Maybe not....cause Sony wouldn't adapt it.

Whatever you have is probably better than what Sony is conjuring up.
