Isn't that how it was with X-Men, though?

After TLS and Origins, everyone was pleading and begging for the rights to go back to Marvel only to be introduced to First Class which made a lot of people stop and scratch their head.

So, they simmered down on that.

It wasn't long until The Wolverine happened where fans started up again, pleading and begging until they were silenced by DOFP which fixed everything and now not a single person (Well, maybe not extreme) wants them to go back to Marvel yet as they wait in anticipation for Apocalypse, Gambit, and of course Deadpool.

Maybe that could happen with TASM? Eh, seems unlikely at this point.

Yes that is how xmen was and I even remember a lot of people thought first class was going to suck even after the trailers started to come out. I beat a lot of people thought first class would be like a 60 RT movie instead of a like 86 that I think it got.

So question guys. If asm3 where to be made but with out pascal and avi how much more confident would you be that the movie could be good/great? 10% 20% ect?

Well I've always thought the franchise had a ton of potential, only being held back by the two. If they're gone, I think there'd be a much better chance of it being a quality film. But avi mustn't be involved at all

I saw DOFP, and it was AWESOME!!! second best movie from 2014 IMO.

Not very. TASM2 really made a mess of the long term story. TASM3 would basically have to ignore it, like how Sam Mendes ignored QoS in Skyfall.

So like 1% more confident then you would be with asm3 with them lol.

it could be solid but I don't see a scenario where sony continues with the TASM series without Avi Arad

There's no saving those films. The plot is entirely mucked up. And there's so much ill will towards the ASM films (and Sony, moreso if they don't make the deal), that it would fail.

I think it is around my 4th favorite.

1. Dawn of the apes
2. ASM2
3. Interstellar
4. XMEN DOFP
5. Cap winter solder

1 is my favorite for sure and same with 2. 3, 4 and 5 could change lol. 2014 was on of my favorite years for movies ever just a great year of movies.

Maybe but I think a sony reboot is even worse then just doing asm3. I think it has to be asm3 or marvel reboot. Marvel reboot is there best option though.

I agree.

Either they continue down the path they started or let marvel work their magic.

sony doesn't deserve a 3rd chance to start over.

Even though I like asm1 and love 2 I do think they had potential to be better because there where a lot of things cut that would have helped with character devolvement that would have either fixed or greatly improved the problems in the movie and I think a lot of that has to do with sony and them interfering. With out those 2 people I think they would be a lot less interfering.

1. Interstellar
2. ASM2
3. Guardians
4. Cap 2

As for DoFP, meh. FC blow me away and Kingsman blew me away so that tells me Vaughan is ten times the director Singer is.

Yeah another reboot and you are going to make the fans you do have left mad and you are going to turn people away even more has you are going to have people saying another reboot already. Even if they do a reboot and it ends up good because it is a second reboot and because of asm1 and 2 and sm3 I could see a sm reboot with sony only making like 500 million WW.

Did you see dawn of the apes? I have only seen FC once a few months ago at a friends house for the first time. I have sinces bought it but not watched it yet. I need to watch it again but form what I remember while FC was good DOFP blew FC out of the water.

Yea, the 2012 reboot made a great deal less due to the fact it was a reboot, and so that will likely happen to the next reboot as well, and the franchise is already on the decline as it is, so the math would not be on sony's side if they were to reboot again

Took me a while to make this, hope you guys appreciate it:

What do you think?

Wow I didn't think goblin in asm2 could look any worse. I was so so wrong lol.

That's how I feel, but it's likely due to the fact that Singer's xmen is a series that is held very close to my heart, I grew up with them, and so seeing his return along with his xmen fighting for their life was just huge. If also helps that DofP is one of my all time favorite stories. And Dawn of the Apes, man what a great film.

Fox had a serious turnaround with their xmen, it makes me wonder if sony's capable if the proper changes are made. Too many roadblocks to though, hard to pave a path for them that doesn't involve marvel.

I remember when TASM came out, felt really low key and there wasn't really much of a buzz surrounding it.

but then again, Avengers and TDKR came out around the same time so it makes sense I guess.

It did feel kind of under the radar, even though it was pretty heavily promoted. The sandwich effect probably is to blame there, a reboot in between the two biggest film franchises doesn't fare well

It had the July 4th weekend and had 17 days before TDKR. Most Summer movies make at least 80% to 85% of their total American gross during the first 2 weeks.

I have acctuchley only seen DOFP, FC and XMEN 3. I am not big into super hero's out side of spider man and batman who I love a lot but there are some other super hero movies I like but spider man and batman I always not only liked the movies but games and cartoon has while. Yeah Dawn of the apes was a great movie. Revolution CGI that will aged greatly and I felt a lot of emotional connection with the characters in the movie.

The problem that sony has with sm now compared to what xmen had going when they had trouble is that asm2 only made a profit of 24.5 million so with out 3d the movie would have lost money and now because of the last 3 sm movies even if asm3 is good or even great there is a good changes that it could make even less then asm2 and so there is a good changes the movie could end up make only like 5 million or even losing money in less they find a way to make the movie with a lower budget then asm2 had.
