Peter studdered more in TASM1 because he doesn´t have confidence or anyone who can really talk with, when he meets Gwen he starts to do it less because he is getting more confident, that´s why he does it less towards the end of TASM1

Congrats!

Andrew wants constructive criticism?

Here's all that was good about TASM2:

Andrew's performance was better then his performance in TASM1
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Sally Fields as Aunt May
The chemistry between Andrew and Emma

Everything else sucked and was terrible.

anyway, i think he was too confident as Peter Parker he didn´t do the dualism between Peter Parker and Spider-man i hope that now that gwen is gone he does the shy Peter Peter more sadly that has to do with the script too, other thing i would want is that Spider-man needs to talk to himself more kinda an inner monologue and Peter Parker to show his smarts WAY more and not from You tube vids (again script) but him delivering a performance he did great

It's constructive. I told them what they are doing good at and bad at.

According to the dictionary:

"criticism or advice that is useful and intended to help or improve something, often with an offer of possible solutions "

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/constructive+criticism

Saying "these few things are good, the rest sucks" doesn't cut it as constructive criticism.

EDIT: I'll add another similar, but more elaborate definition of constructive criticism:

"A recommended set of instructions that aims to collaboratively improve the overall quality of a product or service. Often containing helpful and specific suggestions for positive change, constructive criticism is highly focused on a particular issue or set of issues, as opposed to providing general feedback on the item or organization as a whole.

We don't actually know why Harry is bringing them together... he started forming the group while Spider-Man was absent, so it could be for a different reason. :oldrazz:
I suppose that is true. Though what else would he want that would be in line with his character?

Sorry if I'm late but have you guys seen this yet? I see it's an old article, but I don't remember it being posted anywhere here.

Spider-Man is about to face his most “sinister” challenge yet! No, we’re not talking about the logline for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’ We’re referring to the fact that the movie universe is about to branch out into a slew of spinoffs, including ones for ‘Venom,’ a female-led film, and, of course, ‘Sinister Six.’ A recent teaser for the upcoming Blu-ray release of ‘Spider-Man 2′ hit the web, hinting at what we can expect from the ultimate villain team-up through new concept art.
While the ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ Blu-ray teaser tries to stoke fan excitement with footage from previous films (including Sam Raimi’s original trilogy) of such characters as Rhino, Electro, The Lizard, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Venom, Sandman, and Colm Feore’s Donald Menken (who was rumored to become Vulture in a later film), one screenshot from the video seems to suggest that two of these names — and, possibly, even a third — could be showing up in the ‘Sinister Six’ movie.
Let’s take a closer look…
Click to enlarge As seen in the screenshot above (which you can click for an enlarged view), ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ director Marc Webb is standing in front of a board covered in concept art for his movie. Among the offerings are drawings for Vulture’s wings and Doc Ock’s tentacles, which we’ve seen teased at the end of ‘Spider-Man 2.’ In addition, there’s a frozen head in the bottom lefthand corner, which points to a spoilery plot point cut from the film — the severed but preserved head of Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper), thought to have died in the beginning of the film.
If you ask us, we’re gonna speculate and say that, while Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborn is banding together the Sinister Six as the Green Goblin we know and love, Norman will return as the mutated, demonic version of the villain from the ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ comic book series. But that’s just a fun guess at this point.
The ‘Sinister Six’ movie has a release date for November 11, 2016, and Drew Goddard is said to be directing.

I can see your point about Spiderman and NYC , but the character I think is so much greater than the city he from or normally protects. He's a hero no matter where he is as we've seen in other iterations . He symbolizes something greater than just his own interests or even his own world of queens NY. I think that Peter finding out there's more to being a hero than just protecting his own neighborhood or fighting bad guys would be a great lesson for this Peter learn. While the character is rooted in NYC , I don't think its so rooted that this version of the character couldn't have an adventure outside of the states. If we were talking about the Raimi films I think I would agree that it may be hard to tell the type of story Family business tells.

While I respect what May and Stacy said in the films, Webb and the filmmakers haven't really placed all that much emphasis on Spiderman being a hero for New York or being a champion for the city in the way Nolan emphasized Batman as a hero working for Gotham. We may have had a few lines and we had the crane sequence to be sure but it really hasn't been a focus. If anything, I think that's been one of the weaknesses of the new films. We all know he sort of represents the New Yorker from the mythology , but I don't feel at least these films have really hit that point home aside from some lines of dialog and the crane sequence and the Time Square fight. Its been kinda surface level references as opposed to the character articulating that he exists because the people of New York need him.

I think the recent spate of Superhero films have shown that the films that survive and transcend the genre are the ones in which the filmmakers are willing to go out of their safety zones of the characters common locations, time periods, subjects, etc and tell stories which nevertheless reveal a truth about the character or characters that we all recognizes. I think I would agree that he couldn't do the globe trotting thing for every new film , but as a one shot thing as in the Family Business novel did, there really isn't anything I would see that would make it inconsistent for this version of the franchise.

Now of course whatever ASM 3 is gonna be is basically dependent upon S6 anyway so what ever idea I have is fan fiction, and the Family Business story is a one shot from a different continuity of a comic book. But as far as the international aspect I do think it could work and audiences would be willing to accept it, assuming the story is good. I don't think Sony would do because of how much it would cost to do international shoots and because I think they're pretty much stuck trying to recapture what Raimi had, so they're gonna be less willing to leave that formula and take a chance for one film .

I agree with the bolded portion of your opening paragraph, all in the context of a reboot. While it was hard to get used to a new character taking over Spider-Man when Garfield came around, I was honestly going into the theaters to watch TASM1 with the attitude that it can go in any direction. Peter/Spider-Man's depth in his personality, his struggles, the lessons he learns, accompanied by some of the best villains any superhero has gone up against give no ceiling to a Spider-Man film. That's what makes him so exciting as a character, and what makes people come back to theaters or buy merchandise no matter how poorly the brand is performing.

Fine, Sony might not have planted the deepest roots with Spider-Man exclusively being NYC's hero. Additionally, the references might be very surface level, but its the fact that the dialogue has been exchanged with characters who have had a profound magnitude on Spider-Man's character. There were people calling for Peter's head just by the ending of TASM1, accusing him of breaking his promise to Captain Stacy just days after his death. I just think with the way some of the characters have been introduced already, such as May struggling to pay the bills, it would make it very awkward for Spidey to go international in this series all of a sudden.

I strongly agree with the bolded part of your third paragraph, too. In fact, it's a good argument to make for S6 and the other spinoffs Sony is planning. However, keeping the discussion in the realm of our topic at hand, we have to look at the bigger picture and understand Sony's current state in comparison to the other studios making similar films. People are having enough of a hard time trying to predict where Sony is planning on going with the idea of an expanded universe. I still recall some of the discussions on the Hype and the frenzy this board was in for a while. Sony's knees are currently shaking just handling the S6, I think they would be tackling too big of a beast if they were all of a sudden worrying about focusing on filming in an entirely new environment.

The reason I also say this idea is best suited for another series is because it would ultimately lead to more shoe-horning. Think about how much of an uproar a few new villains caused in TASM2. With the remainder of the series, Sony would have to worry about the S6, Teresa Parker, MJ (even though we don't want to see a love interest, the GA does and it's what Webb specializes in), Black Cat, Venom, Aunt May, and Webb has also hinted at The Daily Bugle finally making its appearance. And oh by the way, they don't seem to be positive that they're done with the arc of Peter's parents just yet. This is why I think if a Spider-Man film was to be introduced with the scope of it being filmed internationally, it would have to start unfolding from the very first film of the series.

Furthermore, squeezing the international spectrum in this series would make it seem like they're juggling too many iterations of Spider-Man. Although the movie is presented in a modern environment, thus far it has been borrowing the arcs from some of the earliest issues of the comics. Intertwining that world with elements of a series published just in the beginning of this year would bring about more complaints of this series trying to do too much. As much as I have been enjoying this series, I would much rather have the idea of Spidey going international in the hands of a more proven studio and producers. Frankly, even some of the actors in this series, in my opinion, have been dealt an injustice with the way their characters have been written. I would hate seeing such a favorable series of mine, and many other fans, to be dealt with in the same manner.

If I were giving constructive critisism for ASM2 I would say the character interactions and performances were pretty good but the story tieing all the threads together needed to be tighter.

The major problem for ASM2 is the parents storyline should have been resolved in the first movie or the pay off needed to be bigger in the second movie.

For me, going into a movie my biggest concern is whether I will like the characters. If I like the characters I will forgive a hell of a lot (like plot holes and pacing problems) because when characters I care about are put in peril I will always be engaged. If I don't care about the characters regardless of how tight the story is I tend to check out of the movie (Tinker Tailor/Hurt Locker).

So, (IMHO) Sony's most important character (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) is very likeable. I also like Dahaan who is central to the S6 movie.
So the main building blocks are there they just need a storyline with big enough steaks to bring great performances from all involved.
The story doesn't have to be complex. A good rule for story tellers;
Simple story, complex characters.

I am hopeful Goddard is given the freedom and range to breathe new life into the Spider-Man franchise.

How is that character development though? It's like saying Batman had character development because we saw him strikes from the shadows less in The Dark Knight then he did in Batman Begins.

How is it that you can take any subject and turn it into a Batman-related topic? You have a special talent there Levi.

Another arc that I look forwarded to seeing in TASM3 is the iteration they go forward with regarding MJ and Peter.

I'll refrain from a detailed comparison and be more broad, but in the past the complaint was that Peter was the same both before and after attaining his powers.

I want to see the transition of the confident Peter we saw in the end of TASM1 and most of TASM2, now mixed in with a befuddled, but more mature, Peter. It'll be interesting to see whether or not we get the more aloof, seductive MJ, or one that's more sympathetic and sensitive towards Peter.

Plus, it's still a question whether or not MJ will be aware of Gwen's death prior to meeting Peter, or aware that he was in a relationship with her (assuming May has already established a relation with the Watson family).

Peter shouldn't date anyone till TASM4. Their inevitable romance can slowly be set up for the sequel but not before that. It won't feel natural for some people IMO.Peter should still continue grieving Gwen and MJ can be the woman that would make Peter's heart bump again after such tragedy he had been through recently.

I'm pretty sure we will finally get a mature and adult Peter Parker. That learned from everything that happened on his life and molded the new Spider-Man who is less cocky and proud toward his enemies.

One of the things that I wanted to see is Peter being Spider-Man non stop because he doesn't feel like doing anything else besides helping Aunt May,owning an apartment and working for the Bugle. He's giving all of himself to don't let anymore tragedies happen again.

I agree him and MJ can be friends but nothing more in till asm4.

I should have mentioned that in my post; I also don't want to see them be in a relationship before TASM4.

It's more of an interest with what's going to happen.

A.) Peter is grieving for Gwen and MJ is the typical, carefree spirit us comic fans are used to. He eventually falls for her over the course of TASM4 because of her striking personality.

B.) Maybe MJ falls head over heels for Peter, but he rejects her constantly either due to the fear of losing another love interest, or he genuinely isn't interested in her. This really creates a chance for tension and drama to develop before they delve into the inevitable and iconic relationship everyone is aware of.

Whatever happens, I want to see some conflict between them before they get involved with each other. Also, with MJ never having met Gwen, this gives the producers the opportunity to give the audience a version of MJ being jealous and wondering what kind of girl Gwen must have been to leave Peter in such guilt and anguish.

Of course, Gwen's death is enough to warrant Peter feeling that way. At the same time, however, for MJ to never have met her creates a mystery woman in her mind. Maybe she gets to see pictures of Gwen and hears stories about her from Peter, but I can imagine them showing MJ wanting to live up to what Peter had with her.

Great post

The bolded part is exactly my thoughts. I want to see Peter afraid of loving again and rejecting MJ for some time. She can spend the movie comforting him but nothing more than that.

Or they could bring Gwen back and and make Lucas the happiest guy on Earth :oldrazz:

:)

If they bring back Gwen in the form of Peter's nightmares, hallucinations, or mind games by Mysterio and Chameleon, I'm all for it.

Just enough of a dose of Emma Stone to get the job done. Hell, I might be grieving for her more than Peter.

Webb probably will make Norman into a different villain instead of a goblin.Mysterio will be a mysterious villain who we know nothing about. Then the smoke in the fishbowl clears and we see that it is Norman's head on a robotic body.

Hell no! Andrew is the perfect Spider-Man! while I agree 35 is kinda pushing it, I'm sure he could pull it off!

I like Sean, but recasting Andrew would be pretty idiotic.

Spidey isn't always gonna be a teenager. Let the character age with Andrew.

I disagree with some of the points he made.

1. Recasting Andrew Garfield.
Andrew is 'THE' best thing about the ASM series. His portrayal of Spider-Man blows Maguires' out of the water. I also prefer Garfield's PP as you can see in his personality where the wise cracks would come from as Spidey. Maguire was way too moppy to believe he would be the happy go lucky Spider-Man once he put on a mask, the two personalities (Maguire's Spider-Man/PP) flew in the face of each other.
Wise cracks have to come from 'somewhere' and Maguire didn't show even a hint he had that playful side to him whereas Garfield absolutely does.

2. New director.
If there is a new director then it should be Goddard as the S6 movie and ASM3 can dovetail together, otherwise let Webb close out his trilogy.

3. Sole villain.
I would absolutely like to see a sole Mysterio movie but for better or worse Sony/Webb have made their S6 bed and now have to lie in it. There is a S6 in the works and that movie absolutely has to tie into ASM3 or they may as well scrap the S6 movie and start a fresh take with Spider-Man.
The way I see Sony are now locked into this path with S6 and ASM3, any changes in direction have to happen after those two movies.

I personally think after S6 and ASM3 they should recast and hire a new director but not before. Close out the trilogy with the S6 and then leave the Webb universe behind and new in a new and fresh direction.

Spider-Man is in a poor position as a character because the image the majority of the general audience and probably fans in general will forever see him as a teenager. So you have a character that is rebooted time and time again to return him to that age. He is a teen in the USM cartoon and in the Ultimate comic, give it a few years and he will be teen in and Marvel Now universe as well.
