But...I didn't have a problem with it in the comics, and I don't have a problem with it now.

My whole point is that the general audience will, since they have no idea of who MJ is the way you and I do.

I do lol. It didn't made a good impression for me when I read the comic for the first time.

My problem with such introduction is that I didn't liked before and I'm sure that I will dislike it again.

That's why I prefer they meeting somewhere else for their introduction. Not "Face it,Tiger --" when she hadn't even met him before.

The only people who will understand the context of her saying that are, again, fans like us who have an understanding of MJ as a character. She's known to be playful and flirtatious at times, but I can see most of the general audience taking it the wrong way.

She is known to be playful and flirtatious because of scenes like that. The general audience is familiar with what "She has a nice personality" is usually a code for. The line, preceded by a shocked Peter blurting out that's Mary Jane?, isn't really hard to understand.

I can understand you not liking it now, but I think you have to understand the context of MJ saying that in TASM #42 in 1966. What's considered more flirtatious and frank now was actually pretty typical conversation between males and females then, from what a few oldies have told me.

Even in Gangster Squad, which is set in 1948, I'm sure you remember how open Emma Stone's character (Grace) was in the scene where speaks to Jerry for the first time. It's just how they rolled back in that era, and I've personally always wanted to see more of that in Spidey films.

I don't want them to use that line only because I'm afraid how the movie would be received. After TASM2, I don't want any more mistakes by Sony, especially with major characters.

I realize that. I just believe that it would rub some people the wrong way if those were her very first words.

If there's a small build up where the audience can understand that's how she is, the line will be more accepted and expected. I don't think the line, "She has a nice personality" would make people assume she's flirtatious and spontaneous in nature.

Indeed. I rather have her character done right than here that line. The only reason MJ appealed to me was because I can relate to her struggle and independence abd she's a more human character even fitting for Peter. She was also peter's voice of joy. I don't care for that jackpot line nor am I hype to hear that line. I just want MJ done right with a terrific actress

My last post was unclear. the line I mentioned was the "face it tiger" line. It's up to the actress and the director to convey her larger than life personalty. I think the line is too over the top for many people to take it at face value. Done well, it would be quite memorable.

I care for it.

I'm just scared for it.

I too believe it's up to the actress and Webb, but look at the immense talent they've already mishandled in so many ways.

It could and would be quite memorable, indeed. However, with this studio at the helm? I don't like the chances.

I love the line. Only a character like MJ could get away with saying something like that. I think they should keep it.

edit: Though, I have to agree that (with the current people in charge) there's a chance that it could be grossly mishandled. They have to be very careful about how they use it. It could easily fall flat.

Anyway, If they decide not to use the line, they could always use this song when she's introduced:

[YT]Xo1AO8WHUlM[/YT]

It'd pay homage to the comics without her directly saying it. Just a fun little easter egg. Plus, it's an awesome track.

Maybe it's because of that, maybe I don't know how the 60s relationship and flirts worked. It's probably because of those early years that MJ always sound like a name that I won't mention here. And that's why I don't want her to say that line again on the big screen,it would be awkward. Even for me,it would come the wrong way since it's how I interpreted the line after reading it.

 Sony? What they have to do with those characters? Lol.

If her name was that much of a problem for that reason, even the original trilogy wouldn't have used the name "Mary Jane."

I just mean Sony and Webb in general, and not wanting them to misuse major characters. Even though I liked TASM1 and TASM2, I still think Uncle Ben, May's relationship with Peter (which I think will be explored more in the future), Harry, and his transformation into Goblin could have been exceptionally better.

Oh yeah, like at the ending Peter and MJ have this moment at a dance and then some song plays on the player and then they look at eachother and kiss

I didn't meant her name dude. Just the way she sounded when saying that line. They way I interpreted her character in that particular time. It isn't nothing about her name lol.

For me,Peter and Harry deserved one more movies as friends, the rest was actually well done IMO.

EDIT: I have to do some stuff, later I check it out your reply if you do one.

For me, it was Gwen's intro and how quickly she and Peter became an item..

 I meant when MJ makes her first appearance. The track could be playing in the background.

Yes TASM 3 needs to introduce MJ, even if she isn't romantically involved with Peter just yet.

We don't need a whole movie about Peter moping around about Gwen, remember it comes out 2018 (although filming starts 2017) that's more than enough time for him to be over her! Four years!

Peter should be willing to move on by then.
no one wants to see a movie about Peter grieving over a (tragic) event that happened Four years ago!

Indeed. Peter should reject MJ not because just because of Gwen but because he doesn't want to get MJ into danger

Exactly! he doesn't want the same fate (as Gwen) for her.

Indeed. And speaking of which I want to see hints of MJ slowly figuring out if Peter is spiderman like how Peter behaves when he's late for something important like he's really tired and exhausted, paranoid, how he feels under certain situations, etc. she tries to find clues but plans on keeping it from Peter to respect his choice in telling her.

I hope they don't try to bring Gwen back. and i really hope they don't do the clone saga! :(

Yeah, **** the clone saga. Just go for KRAVEN or mysterio. It's better than clones.

People keep bringing up "Peter rejecting MJ". First of all, didn't that already happen in SM1?

Second of all, MJ shouldn't be sitting around lusting after Peter. She's not that type of girl.

Maybe you could have some playful banter between them initially, but at this point, neither of them should be looking for love or to be seriously involved with the other. Forge some type of bond or close friendship between them. Show the audience that Peter and MJ are ,in many ways, kindred spirits, then have them develop complex feelings for one another (that neither one realizes or is ready/willing to admit.) Show Peter struggling to come to terms with how he feels about MJ after losing Gwen like he does in issues #145-149 (maybe he even goes to the bridge to talk to Gwen and ask for approval, if they don't attempt the clone saga), while MJ is struggling to come to terms with how she feels about Peter like she does in issue #131 because of all of the crap that she's been through in her life. Show them both overcoming these hurdles and learning (teaching each other how) to love again.

Agreed.

No one knows MJ better than you do.
