Well if he really wants to be in the MCU in any role, let him play Leap Frog then. :o

Hopefully the next guy in the role will be as passionate about the character as Garfield was.

I'd say studio / writers. You can love the character and everything about him / her, and know anything there is to know, but if the studio wants to take a dump on your film, tough luck.

Of course, if Garfield did get that role, he will have gone from the star of Sony's main franchise to just a little frog in a big pond.

Just imagine the press release statement :D
Sony/Marvel: We would like to gladly announce that we have come to terms on an amazing deal! Spider-Man will finally be joining the MCU! and that's not all.. ladies and gentlemen, meet your new Spider-Man!

Logan Lerman!

That last part would single-handedly ruin the whole announcement and my love of the MCU forever. So no thank you :o

Speak for yourself :o
Besides who do you have in mind for Spidey?

Of course not! leapfrog is awesome! he's the little one that could! Garfield would absolutely nail this role!

Of all the names regularly suggested, nobody. There aren't any stand out young male performers between 15 and 18 that I can think of, and that's the age range I imagine would be looked at - so I'm honestly expecting a complete unknown and / or newcomer.

Well admittedly it would be a good way for Garfield to bounce back from the disappointment of ASM2 and losing the role.

Fixed :cwink: but in all seriousness, I think this is the perfect role to jump-start his career again.
It takes someone with immense talent to bring such an iconic character to the big screen.

How can you fix something that is already a pun? You bounce back from setbacks. Leap is just making it less subtle with less of a double meaning.

Damn.. I though we had some chemistry.. stupid me!

I don't think Lerman is a poor actor I'm just not excited by the idea of him getting the role. Maybe he will prove me wrong but right now I don't see anything overly special about him and I don't see him being right for the role. That's just me though, I'm not dismissing the people who are excited about him as an actor.

Everyone was talking about how amazing he and Watson were in Perks of Being a Wallflower and although I thought he was fine I thought Miller easily was best in show.

I'm not too excitd at the idea of Lerman as Parker either, but then again I have no idea who I'd like to see in the role. I know? BenedictCumberbatchIdrisElbaMichaelFassbender. At the same time.

Avi arad said a lot of stuff last year. Said joining avengers would be a last resort and that they have millions of things planned. Feel sorry for the guy he really thought this franchise would blow up.

Nobody should feel sorry for Arad, nobody. Not even Arad himself.

I don't have any suggestions either. I wouldn't care if a little known actor got the gig, as long as they are right for the role bring em on. Most don't know who Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are and yet they are the young leads of the new Star Wars movie. Spider-Man sells itself, a lesser known actor wouldn't be an issue.

Let's say they do go with a lesser-known actor.

Should the film be successful both financially and critically (GA included), that lesser-known actor suddenly becomes a star and a top priority for many future projects (not just Spider-Man related, either).

I think it's the best way to go simply because it lets everyone go into seeing the film with a fresh mindset on the actor, as opposed to already loving the choice or hating it.

I don't think there's an issue with casting people Lerman's and O'Brien's age for spiderman right now, however, in a couple years when a reboot would start filming that may change. They could wind up looking a lot more mature in just a matter of a few years. I say for the sake of fan casting, it may be a good idea to look for actors that are 18 or 19 now.
