Don't think we can say one way or the other until they come out and say. That or unless someone gets wind of how it's going, but you would expect them to be especially wary leaks right now.

I think the deal is happening, whether or not it's discussed at the Spidey Summit.

I certainly hope it's happening. I think most others do at this point also.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

WHO KNOWS!?

DO YOU KNOW!?

Nice new sig. :cwink:

On the topic of the Spider-Man Summit, I believe it's happening.

It could be anything, though.

We could have Sony declare "REBOOT" and bring on adult Spider-Man with Kraven's Last Hunt like the leaked e-mails suggested, or continue moving forward with their franchise killer known as The Sinister Six (which I first believed would be great, until stuff kept going downhill).

Alternatively, we may just get Marvel and Sony's collaboration.

As I said, it could be anything but all we can do is speculate, sadly.

I don't see what else Sony can do. The fact that we aren't hearing anything now is encouraging, if not a guarantee. Maybe Sony and Marvel found a way to actually put a lid on it.

Garfield will be playing The Leapfrog in the MCU.

Let's say, figuratively speaking here, that Sony decides to reboot the series again and go with what the e-mails suggested:

In that scenario, it'd be better if Sony just made one-shots based off of famous Spider-Man stories. No continuing saga, just one-shot films with different actors and actresses each time.

That may be the only thing that could salvage Sony, if they even are still salvageable in terms of Spider-Man.

Aside from that though, I'm with all of you who want Spidey to go home.

I would think that some people at Sony are at least open to the deal.

Since December, we haven't really seen any indication from the rumors that Sony is outright rejecting the deal. Whether it's CBM, Latino Review, Reddit or any of these assorted sites, they all say largely the same thing. I'm still cautiously optimistic rather than certain, but, y'know, where there's smoke there's fire.

All I know is if it gets announced that Spidey is coming to the MCU, I know a few quotes from Arad I want to post, along with the news that is coming to the MCU, and a particular GIF from that movie, "Let's be cops".

I just got to know how to make that GIF... :hehe:

Damn man, you're prepared.

I seriously just want to know how to make them.

This is the only negative story from December about the deal:

Last week Latino Review revealed that Marvel's plan for Spider-Man, were they ever able to free him from Sony, would have been to recast the role and reboot the story - start over again from scratch. Kevin Feige and friends wanted Spider-Man for Captain America: Civil War, but Sony's inability to work out a deal squashed that.
Then Mashable combed through the leaked Sony emails and discovered that in October Sony was considering the ins and outs of licensing Spider-Man to Marvel for Captain America: Civil War and possibly even a solo movie set in the MCU. This leads to the belief that it could still be possible for Spider-Man to show up in Civil War.
I reached out to my sources in Marvel and followed up on all of this - what's the realistic chance of Spider-Man being in Civil War? According to my sources that ship has sailed and Spidey is not in the current conception of Civil War. The movie will go ahead without Peter Parker.
For now. That's an important note here; there's always the possibility that Spider-Man gets himself a cameo in the film, some sort of post-credits sting. The process on these films is fluid, and Marvel relies heavily on additional shooting, so nothing is in stone until the film is in theaters. But anyone hoping that the word of Sony and Marvel negotiating could mean Peter Parker having a major role in Civil War should put that hope away.
One of my sources reiterates that Winter Soldier will be central to the story, and that there have been hints planted through the Marvel movies as to how that works. When I asked if the fact that Winter Soldier killed Tony Stark's parents could have anything to do with it, my source noted that it was an interesting line of thought. That's not quite a confirmation, but it makes an awful lot of sense that a conflict between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers starts when Tony finds out Steve's best friend killed his mom and dad."

If the rights go back to Marvel, I'd rather that they not shoehorn him into Civil War, even if he is a big part of it in the comics.

I went and looked at some old threads back from when we were getting a Spider-Man 4. It's sad that Sony ditched the Raimi franchise. They could have made one more Spider-Man film in that series that would give it a good conclusion. Spider-Man 3 had a downbeat ending. Oh well, we can still imagine how the franchise would be today if we got a fourth film instead of a lackluster reboot.

If we get Doc Ock again, they have to adapt portions of If This Be My Destiny. Spectacular had a really nice homage to the ending with Peter lifting the machine, which is absolutely iconic in the spiderman canon. It's also extremely high-stakes and even brings aunt may into the fold.

The five villains I want to see the most in the next series are Doc Ock, Sandman, Scorpion, Hobgoblin, and Vulture. Honorable mentions are Mysterio, Kraven, Green Goblin, and Venom.
