Thinking more about it, I'm not really against the idea of a giant Sandman, that's not what I hated about SM3, but I personally I don't think that S6 movie with a giant Sandman will be all that's needed to bring Spidey back on track.

The special effects may be great, but there has been little and very poor set up for a well done S6. It's not going to turn out to be an "evil Avengers" at all because regardless if you like Marvel Studios solo's or not, they did set up well and give a great/fun payoff.

Plus although a Thunderbolts movie if set up well could be awesome, the S6 are NOT the Thinderbolts and as a group in general the S6 are simply not good guys I could ever really root for. To make their first appearance something where Spidey would work with them just sucks to me even if visually they may knock it out of the park.

The same email literally named dropped Magnificent Seven. Why has so much changed just because Sandman uses his powers.

Because that implies a whacky tone that will pull the audience out of the movie. How do I know? Because the LAST time I saw a 100 foot Sandman I thought it was whacky and it pulled me out of the movie.

I can't believe Goddard left Daredevil to be a part of this..

Spider-Man can EASILY be fixed with the right people in charge but it looks like you are going to have to have a Batman and Robin (a financial and critical disaster which ASM2 was not) before the people in charge wise up and give the movie to a director with a vision (a vision that doesn't involve 100 foot sandman).

The "deserve' thing is also weird to me. I don't think anyone deserves much if anything from a movie studio.

Producers rarely recognize their faults. They look at trends, they crunch numbers, they work off of archaic quality assurance techniques, and then act like *******s when it doesn't work out. Because by the book, they didn't do anything wrong. Its how it always has been, good movies and bad. I don't think what Sony (or Fox for that matter) are out to purposefully make bad movies, or give them the time and energy they need to be good, or whatever other fan theory is filling up these forums. Its just cognitive dissonance to Kevin Fiege who is the ultimate outlier, who basically kickstarted a niche blockbuster studio because he is a fan.

Of course they're not out to make bad movies. Who said that? That's ridiculous. They don't begin a project and say "hey let's run this franchise into the ground." But they're paying for it now cause they did do a crap job of it. If the studio wants 'their' money, then they ought to give us a quality product. Sony isn't cutting it. Spider-Man deserves better and so do the fans.

I thought S6 was going to 'human' like villains so you could get across the drama and conflict through acting. Basically the Magnificent Seven/Usual Suspects of the comic book genre, but oh no, it's going to be played like a joke. Why am I not surprised.

I don't think a giant-sized Sandman for a scene takes anything away from the possibility of having a good performance from an actor playing the role. There's going to be cgi and that would take away from the human aspect but not necessarily the portrayal of the character. That being said, nothing has changed with my outlook towards Sony and my general lack of faith in them producing a quality movie. I've been against the S6 movie basically since it was announced and most especially after the release of ASM2.

I think at this point I can firmly say, TASM3 is NOT happening.

I remember the scene in SM3 and it completely took me out of the movie.
I wanted S6 to have a semi serious tone. I am pretty sure Suicide Squad will have a serious grounded tone. So why does a Spider-Man themed movie have to whacky.

So what exactly is the lineup for Sinister Six even supposed to be if it does happen (it won't)? They were setting up Goblin, Ock, Vulture, Rhino, Mysterio, and Kraven. Lizard, Electro, and (sorta kinda) Black Cat had at least been used, making them familiar for the audience. Why even use Sandman? I'm partial to the original lineup myself, but we've also heard Scorpia was being considered, so the classic lineup had no shot of being the lineup. How disorganized is Sony to not even be able to have anything resembling a plan for a movie that's supposed to have released less than two years from now?

  • Doc Ock *Quirky
  • Vulture *Youngish
  • Scorpia *nuff said
  • Sandman *comic relief
  • Channing Venom
  • ????

Well... that's what the leaks suggest.

A young Aunt May.
A female superhero group.
A female centric movie.
Venom.
Carnage.
Sinister 6 (with a 100 foot Sandman)

All these ideas and no where have I read any ideas to put out a great Spider-Man movie.

Sony will combine them all into one mega movie. Then they'll cross that movie over with MIB and 21JS for the movie crossover of the century.

I agree. Even if I think Goddard can create a SpikeSandman that could rival Loki in terms of popularity, there is no way the producers and studio won't mess it up.

Are those all separate movie ideas? I thought Carnage was gonna be in the Venom movie.

:wow:

And now I know why S6 will be going to London, to eliminate their other enemy

I think a Sinister Six movie could work down the line. But, not as the next installment of the Webbverse (or even a starting off of a soft reboot). If the villains were introduced in other movies (or a Netflix series), then the idea of them teaming up to pull a caper might be fun. But that's how The Avengers handled it. They had introduced all the characters in previous movies. Sony wanted to copy Marvel's "world building" but didn't have the slightest idea what that meant. And not including Spidey? What's the Sinister Six's obstacles? The police? And if they succeed, you have to ask "Why didn't Spidey do anything?" If they are foiled by the police, then why do you need Spidey?

With regards to the movie future of Spider-Man I have never felt lower but it is always darkest before the dawn.

Batman and Robin - Batman Begins

Wolverine Origins - X-Men FC

Maybe we have to sit through a disastrous S6 movie before major changes happen for the Spider-Man franchise.

The fact that those Sinister Six pitches had Sony execs frothing at the mouth (initially) is extremely disheartening.
