It's not a matter of letting Spider-man slip away. It's a matter of having Marvel help you make better Spider-Man movies (given their track record) with less risk (being co-produce) for a percentage of more money than if you made the films on your own.

That'd be good, but I was addressing the possibility of simply selling away the rights, no co-production. That's what I got from the post.

I don't think we have had any new rumors for like 3 days. With all the rumors over the last like month or 2 I think 3 days is like a record with out a new rumor coming out lol.

It doesn't matter what the potential is, what matters is the reality of the situation.

For example, if you had a classic Lamborghini that was worth a zillion dollars for whatever reason, but you were straight up broke and didn't even know how you gonna pay for your house your food, etc, then that Lamborghin is gonna go and it's not gonna matter how much it's worth.

Your immediate need is more important and if you wait too long you're simply going to lose it anyway. It's not like simply holding the rights to Spiderman is getting them automatic money like a savings account, they have to invest something into it to get something out of it, and right now they're proving they don't know how to make a good Spiderman product.

In terms of money, I've heard they're not doing too hot, but not that it's absolutely critical that they sell right away. I could be wrong, I guess.

Regarding quality, I don't think you'll hear many execs saying, "We can't do this right, let's just forswear whatever money was to be made with it". Confidence in Sony may be at zero, but that won't mean much once the studio sees an approach or script they like and gives it a go.

If it's true that the big-wigs in Japan are truly upset with Spidey's current direction and they want Columbia Pictures/Sony to make a deal with Marvel, then it's really just a matter of time.

If the above is not true and it was only speculation that Japan wanted Sony to revisit the Marvel deal, then it's still possibly in play but nowhere near definite.

now everything or nothing is possible but the fact that the first time that they announced the reboot was January makes me nervous, i don´t want another reboot, either stick to what you´ve done or give up the rights

Whatever happens, I don't think we'll end up with either company having all the booty. It's likely to be a collaborative thing.

That 75/25 deal sounds like the most realistic one to me. Marvel probably sweetened the deal, within reason, in order to get Sony to capitulate.

A lot of people claim that one favors sony too much, but I think Marvel benefits a llittle from it too, mainly because it states that sony would go in 25% of the civil war budget

Bad Spider-Man movies could, in the long run, start to poison the Spider-Man brand. Making a deal that favors Sony a bit with the film revenue isn't a big deal when you're protecting that Spidey annual merchandising figure. You know, the one that's significantly higher than the film profits and is wholly owned by Marvel/Disney.

Part of me believes Sony could pull off another good Spidey movie to get 'em back on track (look at FOX and X-Men), but as long as Avi and Tolmach are around, it's really unlikely.

-Honestly, Robinov's plans for an adult Spidey and Kraven's Last Hunt actually sound pretty good. So "No Deal", as unlikely as it may seem, might not be ALL bad.

"Kraven's Last Hunt" aka one of the worst Spider-Man stories of all time IMO.
