...it's a little different than that.

For one, they didn't already reboot Star Wars. Also, they'd never bring Tobey back.

No they didn't reboot Star Wars, they said it was done and that there was no story beyond the last film released. However to a lot of people he was their introduction to superheroes and a major part of their childhoods. It's really not that unlike the 80s kids who never thought they'd see Luke Skywalker again and that their last memory of Star Wars would be the prequels.

No they'll never bring back Tobey but if they did, there would be a much bigger reaction from the media (especially the media that reaches non-comic fans) than if Andrew ends up returning after being fired.

That's very true, but the situation still isn't really the same kinda thing... but I can see where you're coming from.

Also, it's not about a media reaction?

I think it's a little too late for Tobey to return, but I wouldn't mind seeing Raimi return as a director or producer.

:hrt::hrt::hrt:

They are amazing gifs. SM-2 is still my second fav CBM behind TDK.

I only like SM2 more because I'm a Spider-Man fan. However, both the Joker and Doc Ock hang proudly in my room.

I don't see them reusing any actors.

Although... I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE IT if Andrew returned for the MCU, but that ship has sailed. :(

I think Tobey returning is just as unlikely as Raimi returning. While it's a nice thought it just seems so out there. Though I'd like to think that if Raimi were to return that Tobey could too. I wouldn't mind an older Spider-man where he's already married to MJ. It was that way in the comics for a while.

I honestly wouldn't have minded them using Andrew again, either, but I can see understand why Marvel wants a clean slate.

There's always Dylan. :cwink:

I was reading TASM #38-40 the other day and thought about that guy.

I haven't seen too much of his acting, but he has the look down perfectly.

Toby is gone and Raimi well he could return as producer for a new reboot trilogy but I doubt it

In the end no nostalgia will make a difference to bringing back the character, it's like trying to go back to the tim burton batman series... Its not the only series of films now so the audience are somewhat spoilt for choice and opinion and a large audience won't feel anything special towards it like they would if it was the only series

It would just be a treat for some older folk to know that the guy who made Spidey so memorable for us in the first place would have at least a small say behind the scenes.

With that being said, if it didn't happen, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. It would just be a major plus.

I'm willing to bet pretty much anything that macguire won't be in the MCU

Absolutely no chance, higher chance of someone as bad as Dylan Obrien being cast in any meaningful movie

If Tobey came back the film would make over a billion easy, unfortunately that's not gonna happen.

I think someone around the 19-21 age range should be cast as Peter.

I meant more people who aren't fans would take note. I know my parents for one could care less about The Amazing Spider-Man films or most comic book films in general, but my mom always says she misses Tobey Maguire. Many of my friends who only see the MCU films (most of them) mostly because they only go to the movies when it's an event, have also said it's not the same without Maguire. A lot of the general audience would be very excited to see it. However given the Maguire is 40, it wouldn't be a long term answer so the studio would be stupid to bring him back- barring say a Spider-Men film.

That's my ideal range. Even if he's in high school I think they should cast a bit older just because of how actors tend to look younger than their actual age

I don't they should cast anyone around 24-28 the younger the actor is, the longer they'll stick around.
And there's no denying that actors Do age (Garfield being a prime example in TASM2). so it would be in Marvel's best interest to cast younger. (they'll stay fresher looking for a longer duration of time).

A Cut off is necessary, I'd say 23 at the absolute highest. Garfield was too much of a stretch. He was fine in the first TASM but seeing him in that cap and gown in 2 just looked odd for a high school graduate

I find it hard to comprehend that Tobey returning was seriously suggested. Well, by someone other than Sony of course. :whatever: That's the last thing the franchise needs.

I'd say, if Marvel gets the rights, it's given they cast a young actor to play a teenage Peter.

The only way I'd want Tobey coming back again is in a Spider-Verse film along with Garfield and the new MCU Spidey.

Yeah, Garfield definitely looked out of place at high-school graduation, he definitely aged between the two movies. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed it.

That's why I said he looked out of place with Dane, who at the time looked like a legit 17-19 year old (Dane still does look like a teen).

It was more the way he acted that made dane seem older to me, he was channeling Dicaprio at times. I thought he was a believable high schooler in Place Beyond the Pines because of his more shy outsider personality, but he didn't seem out of place with Garfield to me, they both seemed older than their actual age IMO

His looks are very youthful still, I'll admit.
