The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 1

Yeah. It's been almost 2 years since the reboot was first announced and Spider-Man 4 was cancelled.

I was so angry back then, but now I see that it was most likely a good thing. :awesome:

All we need is a trailer this month. If they don't have one in January, they blew it. Here's how it should go (in my opinion). I made one before, but since the whole "trailer in December" thing never came to be, I changed things around.

- Teaser Trailer (July 20, 2011)

- Theatrical Trailer (January 2012, possibly with Underworld)

- Superbowl Spot (February 5, 2012)

- Theatrical Trailer in Circulation with Other Films (Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance to name one)

- Final Trailer (May 4, 2012 with Avengers; also attached to Men In Black III)

-Crazy Amount of TV Spots (Late May-July 3, 2012)

-The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3, 2012)

If they don't have a trailer this month, I won't even see the film. :cmad:

That('s?) when you were only 13 year old. :wow:

I remember when the reboot was announced. I was just don't know what I supposed to say or do. I was sad to see that SM4 was cancelled. I just wanted to give one more chance Sam R to make up from the messed that SM3 made. At the same time I am happy that I will not see Tobey or Kristen anymore and hope that the new reboot will do wayyy better than Sam's. Yeah, many reasons.

You are not the only one. :(

Sounds good.

Right before the reboot was announced, I was about to watch Con Air to check out John Malcovich in a villain role (he was set to play Vulture in SM4). And then I went on the internet.

Rhys Ifans is the main villain in the big film release of 2012 - The Amazing Spider-Man - and Daniel spent some time in his company as he filmed the role of The Lizard. Rhys on how much he has enjoyed the challenge of acting in ASM:

"I didn't get too excited when I first heard I'd got the part; that would have made me terribly nervous. But while filming, you realise how much of a beast this £16o million project is. I've never felt quite like this on set before - feeling the pressure of having to deliver. I know this is a huge film and that I'll have to be at my best. When I finish Spider-Man, the feeling of completing a sizeable work like that – I’ve nailed it, I’ve done that (Spider-Man). It is a fantastic feeling because you’ve worked hard – no other reason at all.”

Also, Sony Pictures released the official synopsis of ASM:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), a student who is rejected by his peers and who was abandoned by his parents as an infant. Peter was raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Like many teenagers, Peter tries to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter's story also begins with his first girlfriend, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), and together they deal with love, commitment and secrets. When Peter discovers a mysterious suitcase that belonged to his father, he begins a journey to find the reason behind the disappearance of his parents - which leads directly to Oscorp and the laboratory of Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), a former partner of Peter's father. Looking for answers and connections, Peter makes a mistake that puts him on a collision course with the alter ego of Dr. Connors, The Lizard. As Spider-Man, Peter has to make decisions that will change lives and shape his destiny of becoming a hero.

Well I'm glad they've confirmed that Dr Connors worked with Peter's father (even though most of us kind of figured that out ourselves)

"Secrets"...Gwen will definitely find out. Sony didn't do a great job of hiding that fact.

We all do. We just have to wait a little longer. Two people have already supplied us info that point to Mid-January. But don't get your hopes up. It's good to be cautious.

Like we made the mistake about last Dec and trailer. I even think that we better say nothing lol.

The official synopsis of ASM sounds good! but.."Peter makes a mistake that puts him on a collision course with the alter ego of Dr. Connors". Mhm, interesting.

If his parents are killed, do you think Osborn is behind it?

Not gonna lie, a cameo from MJ would be cool... but a cameo from Norman or something at the end would be even cooler.

The after credits scene should be multiple "thugs" talking in a bar when a man in a trench coat appears and offers them a job to take out Spider-Man. The man is creepy and mysterious and leaves his calling card...a small jack-o-lantern pumpkin. Its a homage to an awesome comic scene that was posted here like a year ago. I can't remember where...
