I made an identical thread in The Dark Knight Rises section when the news, videos, and set pictures thread started to become inundated with things that weren't the former.

This thread will be to discuss any general musings that one has in relation to this film and speculation that one might have in regards to TASM.

This will hopefully clean up other threads that are constantly barraged with off topic discussions.

With all that said this thread isn't meant to be for gloating or hating on any previous live action adaptations. Any objective (Not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts) comparisons are bound to happen but please try to avoid the usual "Raimi films are better/Webb films will be better" argumentative type postings. Nothing ever positive comes out of that and leads to an array of constant bickering which has nothing to do with the movie at hand.

This worked out quite nicely in the TDKR section and will hopefully work for the best in this section as well.

Agreed. The Lizard pic looks alright, too. The toy however, holy **** is it stupid.

Lizard making strong SWAT men into lizard minions sounds cool and could be pretty badass for Spidey to go through them all to get to the main man himself, but i do see SWAT team, big building and I do instantly think TDK.

To be honest, I haven't seen it in our archives. It's probably some character shot, that was made during the principle photography.

Lizard SWAT men is a terrible idea IMO. If true, then my excitement for this movie just faded away.

I like the lizard minions...it's such an old comic book/animated series type thing, My inital fear for this film is that it would take itself to seriously to cater to the vocal 18-25, that want everything to be dark, violent and mistake adult themes for emotional maturity. Spider-man needs to have emotionally mature and riveting human drama (which from what we've seen ASM seems to have plenty of) but it also needs to be fun, wild and a little silly (in a comic book way) The look of the lizard and the idea of him creating lizard minions...seems to feel like this is the way it's going, and I couldn't be more glad considering all I've seen is a bland overly serious tone in the pictures I've seen from the film.

Why wouldn't he be? He has an awesome ATV to ride!

Concerning the lenses debate, I suggest you guys to wait for the movie's release. This is where the truth will be revealed. Promo-art, toys, merchandise & etc - have a lot of versions, so there's no telling of what will end up in the movie or not.

And yes, Anno, the design is very Ditko-esque, but more muscular and bigger.

Aside from the lack of trenchcoat, Lizard really does look cool. He reminds me a lot of Ditko's Lizard.

Just a question that I'm surprised hasn't been asked, concerning the eyes...


What do the lenses look like in the actual footage you've seen? (SDCC, Russian expo footage and the VFX reel)...we've seen stills where he has yellow eyes and stills where he has black/silver reflective eyes. He even has yellow eyes in the games... so it'd be cool to find out. lol

I really like the Look of the Lizard. Aside from the lack of trenchcoat, he really does look cool. He reminds me a lot of Ditko's Lizard.

This is as close as we'll get to seeing The Lizard with a coat, for now.

As for the Swat Lizard men. Tbh, I don't mind it at long as it's done right. in the comics, Lizard commanded a bunch of reptiles instead, but this might work for the film.
