The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 1

This movie has given me hope. If a company like SONY can hire such a ****** marketing team for a franchise like this, than I should have NO PROBLEM getting into the industry.

Dude, the movie comes out in July. It's January, calm the hell down man. I'm sure in June we'll be sick of seeing Spidey everywhere.

& as for the Room references:

Peter: *walks into Flower Shop* Oh hai Whino

Normally yes, but Sony's broke so nobody really knows for sure.

Oh well in that case...
No, marketing is still awful. How can you expect people who still aren't sure about this movie to take it seriously after only seeing Pez Dispensers and MegaBlok toys.

Oh and the crapload of pictures of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy sure are helping fueling the Twlight comparisons.

I'm sure the movie is going to be good but i don't blame people for jumping on the bandwagon because to an outsider it looks like crap because of the ****ing marketing

Andrew Garfield is a lucky son of a gun

Here is my take on the Raimi/Webb series comparison. I think that to me, Spider-Man-Spider-Man 3 was really introducing the character of Spider-Man to the masses. Spider-Man was always a very popular character, being one of the most popular superhero's among comic book fans and fans of the animated TV shows. But I feel like Sam Raimi really created Spider-Man (2002) to appeal to a wide audience by trying to tell the story as simply and dramatically as possible, that this is just a young nerdy guy in love with a girl who happens to get super spider powers and ends up saving the day. It's really just as simple as that and each film built on his burden to show how hard it can be being a superhero.
I think it introduced a great number of people, not only to Spider-Man but to superhero's in general. Because Spider-Man has that soap opera element that women can relate to too, while the guys enjoy all the fight scenes and all the big moments.
I think, upon first hearing the reboot would be going for a much smaller budget, I felt like I understood what they were trying to go for this time. It seems to be more of a focus on the individual characters and all the conflicts in their life, which has nothing to do with superheroics at-all.
You could compare the first three films to the reboot by comparing a soap opera to a drama. Soap opera's do things for dramatic effect to almost shock people and wonder what will happen next. Drama's don't really care about dramatic effect, they are trying to tell a story about a person and the psychology of the character. I think this new film will be more of a psychological study of Peter Parker than a comic book adventure.
I think with this one, I'm not even bothered about special effects, or huge fights or adventure like I was with the last 3, all I'm interested in is the performances of the actors and that's it. Any superheroics is just going to be an added bonus for me.

So that's my take on it. :)

I thiiiiiink RIM mentioned that in the scene where Peter is beating up thugs in the subway station that he is apologizing to them as he does so. I wouldn't be surprised if it's, as you said, Peter causing havoc without even trying because he hasn't figured out the proper amount of force to use yet.

That would be very cool.

Omg first last airbender and now spidey. Lets hope he stays far away from this lol
