I never knew that. Are you talking about Ultimate or Amazing? [or are you pulling my leg?]
The 616 universe. Prior to that, JMS was on the book with JRJR, and they had a fantastic run togeather, so it was sad to see the book drop to such a level after their great run. Thankfully, ASM is great again.

Simple: all of them!

Yup..Sin Past is just tragic. The Other is a bit tough to swallow too since none of it mattered after like three issues...I actually had a job interview at Marvel during that period and remembered talking to their staff about it..they definitely seemed like they knew it was bad lol..all that aside though, love JMS' stuff on ASM

All went down, when John Romita Jr decided to quit. After his departure, most of JMS issues sucked, both story-wise (because there was A LOT of pressure coming from Joe Quesada & Marvel editorial team) and art-wise (because I don't like Mike Deodato's art, too muscular).

However, I do have some guilty pleasure in form of Civil War: Spider-Man and Back in Black TPB's. I thought they were good and exciting + I'm a big fan of Ron Garney's art (since Mark Waid's run on Cap, I believe).

I'm with you on all points. There was a real chemistry he and Jr. had that made the issues pop and they just didn't after that and having Quesada's mandated story lines along with ALL those events they did every single issue it seemed, the stories just became bogged down. I liked parts of Back in Black but you could tell they were taking him in the direction where they were going to have to do something because Peter/Spider-man was getting to the point of no return

I always love them too. I remember one time I was watching some random youtube videos then I found..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yoq1oWytyW0
After watched it, I was really curious about it. I started to watch more Spidey comic videos. Yeah basically... that's how I got into the Spidey comic book world. Even before watched it, I already saw many different kind of SM cartoons like 90's etc and the movies too.

JMS' run was frigging DISASTEROUS!
osborn sleeping with gwen and having twins?! seriously, WTF?!!!
that run push be to the brink and then OMD pushed me over the edge, I haven't brought another issue of ASM since*

* actually I bought the guantlet trades

Well, ASM is doing pretty good right now. You should read Big time and Spider Island.

not picking up amazing again until peter is married with MJ. I'm getting my spidey fix from ultimate spider-man. miles morales is an interesting character.

But let's face it, not a single Spider-Man story since JMS' Ezekiel Saga & Happy Birthday two-parter was really mind-blowing (well, yes, I must admit that there's a very unique 2011's Marcos Martin Massacre Saga, but aside from it - nothing special).

I think of BND and post-BND not as something particularly bad, but as something, that you can skip and nothing will happen. It's like you are back in the 90's and there are a couple of Spidey titles to choose from (Sensational/Web/Spectacular/Unlimited & etc), and unless you're into the second Clone Saga, there's no need to buy them.

Don't get me wrong, Dan Slott is a cool bloke, true Spidey-fan and stuff, but in the end, his run on Spider-Man will never be on the same level with the likes of Ditko, Romita, Conway, Wolfman, Stern and etc. That's the reason, why I don't read any Spidey-related comics, that Marvel has to offer.

I agree with you guys, JMS' run started out amazing but went downhill fast. His first story, Coming Home, is one of my favorites and its actually when I started reading ASM regularly.

There's some real good stuff in the Brand New Day era and I found that to be a breath of fresh air. Dan Slott's current run I'm really loving as well, I think Brand New Day/Big Time is the most exciting for me reading as I was losing interest by the end of JMS' run.

Nice! My first Spidey-related comic was Spectacular Spider-Man #200 (Best of Enemies). God, that was awesome! Back then, I really loved Sal Buscema's art (I still do, but not that much - sometimes it's too dark and confusing, especially in his later works).

*sigh*

RIM, have you heard anything about the trailer for this thing? Just thought I'd ask... maybe you'd know a date or something. :csad:

I really wish I could cheer you up and say, that I know all the details, but, sadly, I'm not aware of anything right at the moment. Would be great, if Sony decides to release ASM trailer coincidently with the second Avengers trailer, but somehow I doubt it will happen.

My first Spidey issue was well, the first one. I wanted to read the comics, but didn't think I would be able to since they're so expensive now. Luckily, I did a search on amazon and found the marvel masterworks books. Ever since then, I've bought one book with me to read to read on every vacation so I have something to do when we go to the pool and stuff. Needless to say, I love them.

That's true. I love Dan Slott too but I think the real problem with ASM is that marvel wont let Peter to grow. If you know what I am talking about?

Agreed.

Oh, lord knows, I do, I do... It's so damn hard to forget the whole unmasking act during Civil War.

Why can't you just sub the digtal comic at Marvel.com for only 9$ per month. You can read ton of Spidey comic books: ASM 1-110, Gwen's death, Black cat, some Hobgoblin, Black suit saga, Vemon saga, KLH, Max Carnage, ( much more) 500- 650, MANY short stories like SM: Blue etc, and complete run of USM and Spider-Girl too.
