Well in the comics Spidey can gripe through fabric...not shoes. So barefoot is not necessary.

LOL @ gripe. :woot:

It's true he can thru fabric as I remember that from the comics as well. I was just using barefoot as an exaggerated example, like mentioning him wearing a crown.

The reason I bring it up is in the comics, when peter is running around outside of costume, he ties his shoes together and swings them around his neck so that he can stick to stuff with his feet. I have several comics where he does this...but stupid google images doesn't appear to have any :cmad:

In any case, it's true that when you have super strength you could get away with climbing with just your fingers, but if he ever needs to just stand on his feet and free his hands...then it becomes a problem.

And I already addressed the Raimi films as suspending more disbelieve for the sake of just a fun movie than how it would appear they are doing things with The Amazing Spider-Man.

Yeah, true. But foir all be know, the new shoes might actually be thin soled. The bottoms of the sneakers are flat and smooth (with the exception of the track spikes) unlike most sneakers, They could just have the appearance of being thick soled.b

@Spider-X's posts: Except... this isn't the comics, so they can tweak Spidey's abilities for the movie. Assuming it's some form of electrostatic adhesion, I don't mind them making it strong enough to work through about an inch of rubber.

Could you imagine?

"Peter! What are you doing? The Lizard's coming right for us!"

"Hang on a minute."

*unties shoes*

"Ready!"

*turns around, sees the Lizard tearing Gwen apart"

"Whoops."

It's one of the reasons I am liking the idea of TAS more than the Raimi universe. But it's still a movie about a very fictional idea and therefore there will be certain things that aren't explained. It would be nice to know exactly how he can do the "stick-um" stuff whilst wearing shoes however like you say, it's not a decapitation move to the head of the movie if there's none.

Completely agreed. I was just wondering if there was any chance it'd been explained and I just never caught it.

good call.

@Troy_Parker: I don't mind if they don't even explain it...I was just wondering if they had.

Also, when making a live action movie based off a comic book and trying to make it realistic, you'd tend to want to be as (if not more) realistic than the comic...wouldn't you think? It's not that much to ask really.

I don't see how them changing his wallcrawling ability so it's strong enough to work through about an inch of rubber is defying whatever rules they've set for this movie...

There is also a chance that like SpideyFan said, the shoes are somewhat thin soled. Apart from the bits where the studs are.
