I meant to say I don't think they will do both Green Goblin and Venom.

Green Goblin and Venom repeated?

I don't see that happening.

There are spideys top villains and plus oscorp is heavily involved. Blus they repeated joker,Bane and two face for the Nolan franchise why not reboot the most popular villains as well.

Doc Ock stands a better chance than Venom. He's more iconic and a classic hallmark Spidey villain. The only other villain on equal footing to Green Goblin.

Green Goblin is like what Joker is to Batman and Venom is like Zod to Superman, so they will be used but have some new villain as an addition to these main villains.

And don't use both (Green Goblin and Venom in one movie.) one main villain and one smaller villain like Rhino or Electro.

Venom is not nearly in the same league as Zod.

Turning Spider-Man into an actual criminal is a great idea.

Lets have him smoke some pot on top of a building in between slinging breaks too. Have Mary Jane be a prostitute he meets while buying some weed from his drug dealer in the sequel as well.

Yeah that's so Spider-Man like, all of it.
This would make a good elseworlds movie, nice suggestions.

But the world isn't black and white. Tagging to fight against certain powers could be seen as noble.

and lets not forget that Spider-man turned against the law eventually during Civil War.

Definitely not in the same league, but comparable cause, Zod and Superman have same powers similarly Venom and Spider-man, but on opposite sides.

Well see I was born in the 90s and in the 90s Venom was spiderman ultimate villain. He was literally everywhere and he still is today. Half of the hype for spidey 3 was venom soooo yea I can see them using him again.

Doc Ock was the Villian that Raimi pulled off the most. The Green Goblin needs to be given a better representation IMO. Dafoe was good, but hindered as GG because of the mask they chose and the overall tone of the film. Prosthetics next time. A three film arc reaching the climax in the third film with Gwen's death is what I think we'll get. Norman is mentioned in the first(perhaps cameo) and his presence felt, a character in the second (as Norman), and Norman/Green Goblin in the third.

I think if Venom were to be used, it should be in his own series. A possibility in the future. I don't think Zod is better then Venom myself. Venom has been underwritten many times in the past, but a well written Venom story would do well.

You can bet your ass that the Green Goblin will be used at one point in this franchise.

They could easily NOT have had Oscorp in this movie and had some other company instead, either a made up one... or something else from the comics.

I think a lot of people want to see the Green Goblin. And the death of Gwen Stacy. I also think that we're going to get exactly that considering that Marc has mentioned the Gwen Stacy saga in a few interviews.

I definately want to see this but not for a while. give us mysterio and maybe scorpion first

I really think Venom won't be used again. And I hope I'm right because with the exception of Green Goblin, there should only be villains that Raimi didn't use if you ask me. Otherwise, it would feel like not using Spidey's rogue to its full potential. For the sequels, we still have awesome villains like Mysterio, Kraven, Electro, Scorpion, Chameleon, Shocker, Vulture etc. etc. to use from. As somebody here said, Green Goblin is to Spidey what Joker is to Batman. Now, imagine a Batman trilogy (that is totally set apart from other Batman franchises) without Joker.

Not to mention that Webb himself has mentioned the death of Gwen Stacy story in interviews, also mentioning that Gwen is interesting much because of her fate and so on (now let's hope he's not talking about the Ultimate version).

We also have Oscorp, and having Oscorp without Norman would just be wrong, and having Norman without Green Goblin in turn feels wrong as well.

So I think we'll definitely have Green Goblin in one of the sequels. I just hope it's not the Ultimate version because that would suck hard (especially after having Lizard).

I think venom will definately be used and may even be the very next villian we see.

1. the character lends itself to the ultimate universe

2. there are strong ties with the scientist parents of peter (eddie's dad is a scientist who creates the ooze with peter's dad).

3. there is a stong oppertunity to do the character properly

in fact venom for the sequel actually makes a lot of sense.

I'll wait till the trailer. I only just got back from London.

All these points make sense.

But, that would mean another movie with the whole symbiote stuff again, which we had in SM3. Many people even think having the origin again makes it too much like Raimi's film.

I think they won't have more than one villain that Raimi had and that one villain would probably be Green Goblin, since he's Spidey's arch enemy after all. Especially now that we have Gwen Stacy, and her death was never covered in the past trilogy.

I know that Webb's version of the symbiote saga would probably be alot different than Raimi's, and hopefully less cheesy. It would maybe be the film with Venom as it should be done. But still, having a trilogy with 1) the origin, 2) Green Goblin and 3) Venom would maybe make the trilogy itself seem too much like a remake instead of a reboot.

what matters first and foremost is th quality of the movie. for instance I 100% didn't want to see joker again and look how that turned out.

if you are a film maker the very first question you should ask yourself is 'do I have a story worth telling' if the answer is yes then everything else is largely irrelavent. so if webb has an interesting story of venom (a character we've already seen) I would rather see that than a movie that has electro (for example) who is used because the studio thinks he looks cool and will sell loads of toys.

for the record I personally don't want to see venom but if they made venom I'd give it a chance.

good rule of thumb = the audience have no idea what they want

Guys. I know what they're gonna show.

They will reveal the secret recipe for Aunt May's wheatcakes. I'm already one step ahead, though.

What you say here is very true!

I'm open for a film with Venom as well, I just think it would be unfortunate to not make use of more of Spidey's awesome rogues gallery. Of course the story comes first, I don't argue about that. But I hope that Webb and his team will give villains like Mysterio or Electro, or Kraven a chance, because they have great potential for awesome stories as well. Just imagine something like Kraven's Last Hunt on the big screen.

as much as I like venom, no i don't want him used in the reboot at all any time soon. I would like this film to last longer than 3 films and if it does i wouldn't want venom used in the first 3. ppl act like Venom is the greatest spidey villain ever just cause he is similar to Spidey and is invisible to his spider sense.

truth is up until recent comics (like past 3 years) venom has been a pretty one dimensional character. eddie brock's history was really not deep or interesting at all. he is very simple. he's just a jerk who gets pissed at spidey for exposing the fact he fabricated stuff at a newspaper, loses his job, ends up hating spidey and peter, gets the symbiote, and just wants to destroy spidey's life.
ooooooohhh that's SOOOOO interesting.
how many other villain's want to do nothing more than destroy spidey....
and i have more to say but i have to go to class for now so i'll add more to this thought later.

bottom line, venom is cool, but no where near as cool as everyone makes him out to be.

like a certain emo/gothic pointy ear hero with a cape :oldrazz:

I don't see that happening.

Whether we like it or not, the popularity of those characters makes it impossible for them not to be used again.

Like the Joker in the Nolan series.

I'm sure Nolan would have intially prefered to stay away from that character but he probably felt obligated to use him.

Those characters will be used again. Period. However, characters you can expect not to see is Doc Ock, at least as a villain, and Harry as Green Goblin II.

I'll bet almost anything that Green Goblin is used in 2 and perhaps even 3.

Doc Ock is great, but GG is in a league of his own.
