The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 3

hard to imagine that after 5 LONG years we are mere MONTHS away from a spidey movie.

wait a long time to wait. consider the gap between B&R and batman begins was 7 years.

See, that's what I really don't get. People complained for years and years that a reboot would have been started and released five years after Spider-Man 3, even though it was just two years less than the gap between Schumacher's film and Nolan's reboot.

Personally, I think that this film, if it is to justify retelling the origin, needs to incorporate the origin into the story afterward. People know Spider-Man's origin, so there's no need to devote 10-15 minutes just to tell us (the audience) that Peter was given powers by a spider bite, became the entertainer Spider-Man, let a robber get away who later killed his uncle Ben, then became a superhero as Spider-Man. This is probably one of the bigger problems of Spider-Man. The origin had little to do with Spider-Man vs Green Goblin, other than mere set-up, and the film as a whole was lacking real plot.
I hope that The Amazing Spider-Man doesn't suffer that problem.

From what we've heard so far Spider-Man's origin this time around has direct connection with the rest of the movie and even the later movies in the series.
In this take everything's revolving around Oscorp, that's where Pete gits bit, that's where the Lizard is created, that's where Gwen works and that's also obviously going to lead to the creation of the Green Goblin (which I'm am very positive will be showing up in this series)

We also know that obviously the origin story is what leads into Spider-Man actually becoming a hero, which also in turn causes Gwen's father to go after him, him being the secondary antagonist in this movie. Oscorp being a central place for Peter to go to to spend time with Gwen (and meet Connors too for that matter) means that it is also a location that also pushes forward Pete/Gwen's relationship.

And, in an ironic conclusion, Oscorp, a place that helped Peter find love and give him a purpose, will later take it away once Gobby kills Gwen.

So yep, I'm pretty sure its safe to say that everything is tied together very well in this movie :)

Interesting.

If I don't have work that day in the morning, trying to decide whether to go or not.

I live in SI, so I'd have to use ferry/subway transportation. Would just like some other opinions on if it is worth missing a day of college for this.

It's only one class, so it'd wouldn't be a big deal. I mean, they're hyping this up to be more than exclusive footage and now I feel like I have to definitely go if I don't get scheduled for work.

As a guy who skipped my fair share of classes in undergrad lol let me help..first, if the class is important, don't skip it. BUT, if you can get the notes or you know your professor won't trip cause you aren't there, then skip. 2nd, it will probably be worth it but at the same time, I would never skip a class if I knew I'd be paying for it later on or my grade would suffer.

Thanks, semester just started and my 2nd class for that one is tomorrow so I'll have a better idea of how my professor is with everything. Hoping the chips all fall in the right places.

Yeah that's a tough class to miss but definitely gauge him to know what would happen..check his syllabus too. Does he have that policy that says you can't miss one class?

Just read my syllabus and it says in print: You must attend class...EVERY class.

So either I talk to my professor that I might not be in attendance next week or just forget about the exclusive event. Oh well lol.

Yeah I wouldn't mess with that. I mean you could pull a Ferris Bueller but he may want proof you were sick or some type of proof to whatever excuse you use. If you can't do that, I'd definitely go. Too early in the semester to piss the guy off

I would do this.

Hope she doesn't bust a nut if I tell her I might not be there because I have a family occasion.

But it says you have to attend every class, so now I am a little frightened to even mention it lmfao.

Not a big deal if I can't skip the class, but this Spidey event sounds so damn awesome.

That may actually be a good idea..any excuse using family is normally airtight as long as you don't go overboard with it. Normally professors are pretty understanding on that kinda thing, they'll just remind you that it's on you to make up the work you missed or get notes. You'll know her better than I do though so it's a judgement call my friend

Lmao

I'll end up saying something like,"Professor, just wanted to let you know, I might have an important family occasion next Monday. It's not definite, but I really can't miss it if it happens."

Can't be too dramatic, can't be too simple. It's never simple.

He should walk into class and be like "I ain't comin monday. Deal with beeyotch!"

perfect..that way u make it seem like you really want to go to class but you may have no choice in the matter and you also keep the door open where you are really trying to attend

We are of the assumption that Connors, becoming more Lizard like psychologically, decides to make more like him and turns a swat team, supposedly after him, into Lizards.

So Lizards in flak jackets carrying MP5's? :D

No one ever mentioned the fact that they may be Argonians.
