Another awkward countdown video.

I loved that Marc was talking about how this new world for Spidey is much darker, and it will take that drama very seriously, but will remain true to the fun and humor of Spidey. Goodness. This film seems to be doing everything i've always wanted in a Spider-Man movie.

It certainly seems that way. For everything I have heard about this movie it all points to being a great take on Spidey and a lot of the things that we may have missed out on from Raimi and co.

he also goes on about POV shots. sigh...

when making a movie every single shot should be in service of the story, not because the lends itself to a perticular medium (3D). you do that and you ensure the movie will be dated in a few years when that medium is no longer in vogue.

the pov shots in teminator are establishing the antagonist isn't human and thus serves the story. showing a pov shot of spidey swinging serves what purpose?

It puts the viewer in Spidey's shoes?

This conversation has already been had.

There was a POV shot in a version of Raimi's Spider-Man script from like, 10 years ago. It was almost exactly the same POV shot in the trailer word for word. And that movie wasn't going to be in 3D.

He's still going from point A to point B, only in POV.

As long as it's not used too many times I'm fine with it.

Most things like that are really cool once or twice, but more and it gets kinda ridiculous.

Ain't it great? Someone who actually gets it!

Who said Spider-Man HAS to be serious. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that this movie will be more serious in some aspects and be humorous in others, but Spider-Man was never intended to be like that. It CAN work for him, but it ISN'T him. Just because you prefer that version doesn't mean everyone should naturally prefer it too.

Agreed. I love how this film is turning out with every new interview.

I can agree with that but I don't think he meant it that tehy whole movie and everything in it has to be dark, serious, and brooding.

Its just that, imo, the serious moments and even the humorous moments, has should make you take it seriously.

Manuly, it has to come off as genuine emotion rather than something that feels somewhat empty and movie emotion.

If the audience doesn't feel anything, the movie isn't doing its job.

Like in SM3. One notable scene is when the crowd and newscasters are reaction with immense sadness to Spidey being pummeled by Sandman and being held down by Venom.

That scene was supposed to elicit an emotional response but ask some people who saw that movie and they'll probably say it didn't do that.

Another scene like that is the scene where MJ breaks up with Peter or Harry's orders.

You were supposed to sympathize with the characters but it came out as goofy and just plain stupid.

The emotion needs to feel genuine and be taken seriously. Not just manufactered emotion.

You shouldn't feel like you are having one of those signs they use on live studio audience for tv shows that tell them when to laugh and sigh used on you.

You should actually feel for the characters you are seeing and indentify with their situation.

Please for the love of God shut up.

I'm so sick of you every turn I am at. You just don't see the abstract idea of it being "serious" do you?

Just get lost. That's all I ask.

We don't mean serious as everyone brooding the whole movie.

Just that when dramatic moments (humorous, sad, etc) occur, we by able to feel for the characters and take what's happening seriously.

I.E. When Uncle Ben dies, we should crying like little girls.

OK, maybe not that far, but you get the point (hopefully).

I've always preferred the Spidey comics where New York is a dirty place, with hobo-infested streets, litter, grime, depravity. And where Spidey is the light, the comedy. Where one guy stays sane when seeing all the scum and evil by cracking a joke, putting up a front. That's the Spidey I love. From the interviews and information, that's the Spidey we're getting. Perfect for me.

I couldn't have said it better myself!

It's basically how a lot of horror/action films that get pretty serious usually have that integration of humor, in a sense how the Buffy series was. That **** got insanely graphic and dark, yet the humor was still there.

Me too. That was how NYC was portrayed during and after the 80s tuns on Spidey (considered the definitive are by many) and I always loved portrayal.

He's the little guy fighting for the little guy.
