Yeah there is but Stephen Moffat, the showrunner, already said that the current TV Doctor (at the time it films) would be in the movie.

That makes sense, but I'd prefer the movie to be standalone.

Like is said, not EVERYTHING is Raimi's fault. you guys act like he completely ruined Spider-Man, and at least he knew he made mistakes and was going to try and fix things with 4 until Sony started effing everything up.

How can you say not everything is Raimi's fault though? He deserves as much or if not more blame than Arad and Sony as he made the product. Sure, Raimi has apologized and said he made mistakes which is a nice thing to hear from a director/writer, but it is his fault because he made those mistakes. He was forced to use Venom and the symbiote but Spider-Man 3, the product that is the film itself, was what Sam Raimi created. As a writer and the main guy behind the entire machine, the blame goes to him.

And I myself wouldn't be all into a fourth Spider-Man film tbh. In my eyes, he royally screwed up Mary Jane in Spider-Man 3. It would have to take a LOT for him to make the character of MJ actually pleasant to watch. Although, it may have been nice to see what his next step with Peter would've been. That would have been intriguing, but any other character of that series would just be "meh". Obviously excluding JJJ because Simmons is a god.

Also please don't label me as a Raimi fanboy. I like Raimi, but I know he made mistakes. It's just i feel waaaay too much blame is placed on him. Not EVERYTHING was his fault. Some people here act like they want to see him stoned to death -.-

Your exaggerating. Putting the rightful blame on the guy in no way can be compared to people wanting him stoned to death. Besides, there is a long, long, long list of people in Hollywood that deserves to being stoned to death. Ruining a CBM is the least someone can do.

I just came in and started reading this discussion and this jumped out at me because it's been a constant thing lately and it's been said so many times before, and my question is, can our childhoods really be ruined? Like of course I'm not trying to start any beef with anyone or get into a war about it cause it's not that serious, but I've only had this discussion with my boys and we all are in agreement so it would be good to talk to some people who may feel differently. You mentioned transformers being ruined and ruining childhoods, but if you still have your old toys, comics, cartoons and anything else, can it really be ruined by a movie? I'm assuming most people in this forum grew up spider-man fans and love the character but if the previous trilogy was bad and this new movie happened to be bad, would that ruin our childhoods or "rape" them as I've seen some people say?

I'll thank Raimi for bringing Spidey to the big screen and putting CBMs back in the spotlight and that's really all I'll do for him. I'm ready to see Webb do it better. That's all I'd really like to contribute to this discussion.

I know I said this before when this discussion came up but I look at the previous trilogy like this: it was three movies, a beginning middle and end. To me, a fourth one just seems unnecessary. Sam told the story he wanted to tell, he took Peter from a high school kid full of guilt to a college young adult who found it in himself to forgive his uncle's killer. That's it then..movie over, trilogy over and journey over. For me, once Pete forgives the guy who killed his uncle and lets that guilt go, he loses one of the key elements that define him, very similar to Batman Forever when Bruce said he's batman because he chooses to be; that's not the character.

As far as Spidey 3 goes, as it's been said in here, the director is given something to do on behalf of the studio but it's on him to make it work and Sam didn't make it work. Is it all his fault? of course not but when you're the leader, when you're the director or the writer of a big hollywood movie, you get the accolades when it works and the blame when it doesn't, fair or unfair, that's the penalty of leadership. John Carpenter was given parameters for Halloween, he was told what the basics of the movie had to be about and he ran with it and turned a simple idea into a classic. No one credits the studio or his producers for the idea though, they credit him and if it had failed, it would've been on him as well

I was all for Raimi and co. to give it another go and redeem themselves in the fourth installment. I was initially pissed that it didn't work out between he and Sony, but my anger has slowly faded over time and now I'm looking forward to the Webb production.

I don't know if I'm the only one with this, but I never wanted Spider-man 4! I was hoping for a reboot way before problems started to show up with SM4.
I wanted a new edgier Spider-man film, with a more slim and dynamic looking spidey with an edgy costume, that's why I loved the new costume from the start.

Let me explain: I grew up watching the 90's animated show (actually, that's how I was introduced to the character), and while the humor was there and peter was a wisecracker, the world he was in wasn't really that lighthearted or cheesy. The show, at least from the start, was heavy on that unique atmosphere, and I loved it.

After that I started to read the comics. I was way too late for the ditko era, but the comics I got my hands on that time were edgy with a more dynamic looking spider-man. Again, the trademark humor was there with Peter, but the world he was in wasn't really lighthearted.

I was talking to my brother earlier today and we got to discussing the marketing for this film. I really think we need to start seeing something other than this "viral" campaign.

Avengers, understandably so, is a marketing powerhouse and TDKR really doesn't have to do much else other than sit on its hands and wait for the theaters to fill up. I have no doubt people will see this film since it has the name Spider-Man attached to it, but what I hate is that it's taking a back seat in marketing for no real reason. From my point of view, there's still a very large portion of the GA who have no clue what this film is about and why it's even happening. I feel like the confidence in it is waning on some ends and it's driving me crazy.

Sony does have a marketing division do they not? I know it's not going to be on par with what Disney can do, but there still needs to be something more going on here. I think if there were a new trailer that at least showcases a bit more action and some nice looks at the Lizard there'd be a bit more excitement. I'm just really put off with us getting little more than a few lackluster posters and an image here and there. I'm ready for Spidey to start competing this summer and really be aggressive about it. I don't want to see him take a back seat.

Nice post. Initially the whole idea of the reboot rubbed me the wrong way. So did that initial shot of the new suit. As time wore on though, and we learned of the intentions of Webb, heard reactions to the CC footage, and so on, my feelings changed. I began to love the idea of a reboot and the new direction they were taking with the character of Spidey, i.e. a darker more grounded story, Gwen Stacy, Peter's parents, mechanical web shooters, a wisecracking Spidey etc. While I still hold in my heart a desire to have seen Raimi give it a go one more time, I have also moved on from that so much, that I don't think I'd want it. It's weird saying that but it's true. As much as I like what Raimi did with the first two films I am still very much looking forward to the new movie. Webb appears to be on the right track with bringing a much truer version of both Peter and Spider-man and I truly hope he succeeds.

I think I can definitely say Bay ruined my childhood dream of wanting to see Transformers on the big screen. I mean, we will be getting a TF4 as well, but Bay will still be behind the helm and the pass three films did nothing that got me more excited about that franchise. When Spider-Man came out, it made me more excited to be a fan of Spidey and the same for Batman Begins. I wanted that kind of feeling with the first Transformers film, and throughout that trilogy, I just hated what Bay had done to that series. So, yah, saying he "raped" that aspect of my childhood can be true to a certain part; he "raped" the Transformers for what they should be, so with that, it also "raped" my dream of seeing an amazing Transformers film, and that trilogy could have been quite amazing.

I hope for a lot of things for Spider-Man 3, and as much as I hate that film, I know a lot about it just to have the knowledge about it when I do talk trash about it. Such as knowing the accurate time of that Venom/Sandman confrontation.

Well, I wouldn't say he raped my childhood or anything. I mean, I can watch the original trilogy and love it and I just have it in my head that the prequel trilogy was never created, nor do I bother to watch the original trilogy with the alterations that Lucas has done to it. In my mind, the original trilogy is all the Star Wars that Lucas had dipped his pen to make. That and the Clone Wars. I enjoy watching Clone Wars.

And speaking of Lucas, the funny thing is that I am in the minority that actually enjoyed Indiana Jones IV. I like the progression for Indiana into the fourth film; the idea of the inter-dimensional beings might be a bit out there for the Indiana Jones series, but I do like the themes and story for the fourth film with that Indiana has gone through; from a guy who met his father and lost his father to finding that someone he once loved gave him a son and he's now a father. Indiana Jones felt full-circle.

Went to see The Hunger Games tonight in IMAX and got to see the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man on the gigantic screen. Unreal. As if I wasn't excited enough for this movie. Definitely reinforced my decision to see it in IMAX 3D the first time. It's going to be epic. Also, the crowd reaction to the trailer was very good. The whole theater laughed when Spider-Man was talking with the carjacker. After the trailer ended, I can tell you I heard quite a few "That's awesome!", one "I'm sold" and another "Looks better than I thought it would be". All positive.

I got the same thing when I saw Hunger Games. Everyone loved the trailer for TASM and there were alot of laughs for the carjacker scene.

I don't think you should be but see that's my point: some people like the prequels or transformers and if you don't couldn't you just ignore it? I mean no one puts a gun to our heads and makes us spend our cash on this stuff it's all a choice. The godfather is my favorite movie of all time and I love the godfather 2 but I'm not one of those people who feel the third one ruins anything for me because I just ignore it. I own it, I'm not that fond of it so it sits on my shelf collecting dust. Now I actually liked two out of the three transformer flicks but even if I didn't it wouldn't ruin a thing for me because I can simply ignore it. But it wasn't a dream to see it on the big screen for me maybe that makes it tougher for some but the beauty is if you wait long enough eventually someone will do transformers or superman or any thing similar the way you want it done
