true but in the ultimate universe, when they are confirmed to be dead, THEY STAY DEAD.

cyclops is dead, daredevil is dead, wolverine is dead, professor x is dead, peter is dead, dr. strange is even dead i think, magneto is dead, etc.

Oh wow, I had no idea they killed off so many Ultimate characters

Yea ALOT of characters died in the wake of Ultimatum. And originally back then they made it seem like Peter died but in the story Ultimatum Requiem, we found out he survived. a few heroes found him under some rubble unconscious, then he Ultimate universe got rebooted and the comics changed from ULTIMATE -insert title here-
to ULTIMATE COMICS -insert title here-

Not really. Didn't everyone HATE the Clone Saga for the same reasons? If Miles showed up in his own seperate book like Spider Man Noir, or Spider Man 2099, I'm positive there would not have been any backlash. The problem comes from killing off a character we all know and love, for the sole purpose of replacing him with what I'm sure Marvel was thing was a better version of the character. I've just read the first USM TPB that has Miles's orgin and to be honest it was enjoyable and not bad at all. Again the problem is not with Miles himself, in as much as it is Miles REPLACING Peter.

Ppl complain saying Miles should have gotten his own separate spin off instead of Peter actually dying but u all know damn well ppl would complain either way.

If u have Peter get wounded, have Miles step in until Peter recovers and give Miles his own spin-off there are 2 problems:

1: not as many ppl would give a ***** about Miles. Not to make it a racial issue but lets face it, not to many comic book characters that are of different races/ethnicity, specifically black characters, these days are popular in their own series.

All the more reason why they should have left Ultimate Peter the **** alone.

U rarely EVER hear fans in the comic book community getting excited over Storm, Luke Cage, Blade, Black Panther, War Machine, Spawn, BatWing, or Static Shock the same way other popular characters get talked about such as Spider-Man (Peter Parker), multiple members of the Avengers, characters that make up the Justice League. Hell, even John Stewart, isn't as popular as Hal Jordan.

2: ppl would complain saying it's a rip-off of the death of superman but what's funny is Spidey fans act like that's what they want. Alot of ppl actually want Peter to be brought back from the dead but it's not gonna happen. Once a character has been confirmed to be dead in the Ultimate Universe THEY STAY DEAD.

Again, as I said, the more reason why they should have left Ultimate Peter alone.

What would be called a ripoff of the Death of Superman storyline, if Peter was brought back? If they brought him back, sure. But that's not going to happen, like you said. Which is why they shouldn't have even killed him in the first place.

Honestly the whole situation kinda sucks cause ppl view it as a marketing publicity stunt but Bendis said he thought of having a black Spider-Man YEARS ago. and I agree that this character would not be able to handle being in his own comic as a spin off. That he would have to be in Peter Parker's world of Ultimate spider-Man and the story just wouldn't have the same "umph" if Peter were to have lived.

I don't get it, why wouldn't it have worked? Pretty much everything would have been the same except Peter wouldn't have died, Miles would have taken over for a while, then would have been given his own spin-off. And if that spin-off didn't sell? Kill Miles off. Give the people what they want. :woot:

But I guess "THE DEATH OF SPIDER-MAN" sells better than "WELL, HE DOESN'T DIE, BUT HE IS OUT OF ACTION FOR A FEW ISSUES. THE KID WHO REPLACES HIM IS BLACK. BUY THE COMIC!".

I understand everyone has their own opinions but I personally don't see all the hatred towards USM and Miles Morales specifically. Just cause peter got killed off? Just cause you can't accept anyone else being Spider-Man other than Peter? Kinda silly seeing as how some of you like 2099 and also currentl enjoy reading Scarlet Spider

...Because Spider-Man 2099 isn't Spider-Man. He's the Spider-Man of the year 2099. The Scarlet Spider isn't Spider-Man. He's the Scarlet Spider. And notice how Spidey 2099 has his own series, how they didn't have to kill mainstream Spidey off in his own series to introduce him? Yeah.

I guess it'd be fine if Bruce Wayne's Batman was killed off and a 30something year old Japanese business man took over. It's still Batman, right!? Therefore we must accept him!

And people wonder why I hate Ultimate Marvel.

Ultimate SM sucks. The less influences of it in the movie, the better.

I'm glad they're taking a lot of inspiration from USM. In particular, Ultimate Peter/Spidey. I like him so much more than 616 Pete.

Damn, so much hate towards USM and especially Miles XD

1. i would've loved if Miles had've been given his own book rather than killing off Peter. If for no other reason than it would mean i could buy the latest of each and compare how two spideys act and react to their given situations. Would've lent itself to some variety

also Spawn is one of my faves and Static Shock was a staple of my childhood so i guess i dont apply to your example there (sidenote- Static shock's tv theme song version 1 is fooking awesome. Irrelevant to the conversation but must be said).

2. Miles could have definitely handled his own spin off imo. If Miguel could handle a spin off where the idea of Spider-man (a character who is widely loved for being grounded in the reality and is thus more relatable for the reader) is given life in the form of Miguel O' Hara in the future (of which we know nothing and therefore find it hard to relate to) then surely Miles Morales could easily handle a spin off in this timeline and reality.

I went through my teenage years and college life with Ultimate Spidey (as many of us did). Petey's problems and his handling of those problems alongside his emotional growth were a source of comfort to many of us who were the Peter Parkers of our respective regions and we grew alongside him (as i'm sure the parkers of the 60s did too) and to see that pillar of support and reassurance get killed off in a sense feels like a part of us has been killed off. It's not a problem with Miles being a Spider-man, i continue to read Ultimate spidey probably even more now than before (mainly down to finally finding a dependable local retailer, again besides the point). It's the problem of there being no Ultimate Petey, a problem i'm sure the folks who grew up with ultimate Matt murdock know all too well also. I'll read any Spider-man. I just miss the character i grew up with. Same way i prefer it when Captain America was Steve Rogers and not Bucky

And some people still think that leaked Lizard photo was concept art...

Ultimate comics suck in general. They started off okay, but now it's just garbage.

Also, I have a feeling that people on this forum are going to see that truck & freak out because of Lizard's design on it. DESPITE, Ock & Gobby also being on it.

this is how Ultimate Peter feels about u guys XD
