No, Dr. Connors instead, so when he turns into the Lizard that's how he dies instead. :cwink:

Hrm...

I suppose me trying to make fun of you didn't go very well much like when Family Guy tried to make fun and hurt the FCC.

I suppose me trying to make fun of you didn't go very well much like when Family Guy tried to make fun and hurt the FCC.

No it didn't go that far. Most people think I'm trolling, but I'm really arguing a serious opinion. I think characters are a property of the public to reimagine for themselves. Kind of like when there are very different takes on an ancient Greek or a Shakespeare Play. Even the story of the Passion was made into Jesus Christ Superstar.

You like Batman & Robin, don't you? :o

Me thinks he's just a Schumacher fan :cwink:

I can like the Shumacher's films as much as the campiness of the 1960S movies. Even Batman has been done in a different light then the darker version given birth to in the 1980s. This why I find nothing wrong with there being a gay version of Peter Parker or female Spider-Man, a symbiote that takes over Scorpion, Electro or another character, because they are fluid enough to be rewritten that way.

A gay Spider-Man?

I'm no homophobe or anti-gay rights person but...no.

If people want to create a new, gay superhero, by all means, go for it. But, making Spider-Man gay? Altering the symbiote arc so it attacks a different host is one thing, but literally changing everything we've known about a central character for nearly 70 years?

And there is a female Spider-Man...

I'm not saying there is a homosexual subtext at all.

I'm just saying it would be an interesting take on the character. Why not do a special edition and simply do a little exploring with the story. They just did with the new half Hispanic and Black Spider-Man and before therer has been the the clone saga, Spider-Girl, Spider-man from another dimension, Spider-Man from 2200. Why not a gay Spider-Man? That's more down to earth than much of the rest has been.

And it doesn't work. You might as well create a new character if you want a gay superhero.

Gosh dang I was kidding.

Just stop...stop listening to Lady Gaga and creating these weird-ass fantasies, quit your run on heroin, go outside and get some sun.

Agreed.

This is crazy enough to work. I like the idea, it would cost Sony a hell of a lot of money, but I'm sure they'll make it back. Let me ask you this, what would Venom being doing in his solo movie without Spider-Man?

* Kaw, below, was once my thoughts on Sony’s then announcement, back in the day, of a Venom Spin-Off, with a brief synopsis & short trailer I wrote of the first film… providing those, interested, with a feel of how I would approach the film, character, and story.

:sym: Most of you know I like to write; most know although I’m excited about the prospect of a possible spin-off, I’m not as optimistic of this film, as most. Mostly because the film will be based off the horribly lame & hollow characterization of Eddie Brock from the comics, TAS, and now SM3; as well as, this notion of Venom being an anti-hero.

I prefer Venom to be the vicious/remorseless beast that he is; and, Eddie Brock to have a real foundation of who the man was before the bond. IMO, the film should re-invent the character and be based on this relentless combo as told from his POV… and maybe, just maybe, we can view and understand just why this unstoppable force is the greatest threat to Spidey and humanity.

This is why I propose they do a Trilogy… “Venom’s Origin”, “Seed of Venom”, and “Venom: The Final Conflict” In order to devote proper time in developing the character along the way, pierce into his psyche, and the effects of the Symbiote, as he approach his climatic confrontation with Spiderman. I know it will never happen and I’m sure most can not imagine what I’m saying or think should happen; however, I‘m trying to give a glimpse how it can be done. Here’s a quick synopsis of the first of three.

“Venom’s Origin”

Although the story starts off full of action, from the get-go, with Venom already existing; the story details the chronological path that lead Eddie Brock to the single event & revelation that change his life forever… and it’s not what you think. Unbeknownst as to why, he is being sought after by a fierce elite team of agents, as he search for the prime opportunity to strike, the source of his anguish and pain… and will kill any and everything, that get in his way. Here’s a brief teaser.

The Following PREVIEW Has Been Approved For ALL AUDIENCES By The Motion Pictures Association Of America

The screen is black, the interlude of Phil Collins, “In the Air Tonight” continuous plays throughout, as Eddie Brock voice-over narrates.

“My whole life, I have always been the antagonist.” A quick scene fades in of a nine year old Brock throwing a ball with all of his intense might, at an opponent, in a game of dodge ball. The screen fades to black.

“The one everyone gawks at… intensely.” The next frame slowly fades in of Brock sinisterly smiles at his poor dodge ball victim, who nose drips blood. The screen fades to black.

“I can feel their loathing gaze.” A quick scene fades in of a fifteen year old Brock walking out of the school’s restroom, smirking… with twelve dollars in his hand, as the student body stand by, repulsively watching. The screen fades to black.

“I sense their disgust.” The next frame fades in of a student stumbling out of the restroom shortly after Brock, drenched and messy, with a solemn look on his face as he collapse to his knees. The screen fades to black.

“Because many detest me,” A quick scene flashes of an twenty-one year old Brock stepping into the center of a circle with a bayonet, in the Iraqi desert. A soldier mouths out in searing jealousy, “kick his freaking ass Jimmy” with soldiers, encompassing the circle’s outer fringes. The screen fades to black.

“ and most dread being near me,” The next frame fades in of Brock delivering three quick blows(Matrix Style), thrust, 360° side slap, uppercut. The screen fades to black.

“I am alone.” The vocals to the music begin. “I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord"… as the frame slowly shows Brock dropping the bayonet as he step out of the circle… leaving a bloody and bruised mess. As Phil continue to sing…”I’ve been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord, of Lord"; another scene slowly fades into a 180° panoramic shot of Brock standing in front of a casket.

The music instantly pauses, Eddie Brock’s maniacal looking face appears on the screen, talking to the audience… “But not any more.” As the heavy drum interlude of “In the Air Tonight” plays… the Symbiote slowly covers, the distant, but angry look, on Brock‘s face. The screen and music suddenly goes blank…

* Of course now, I would do it slightly different given the direction Sony seem to be taking with the reboot, TAS. The premise is still the same, as far as, the story’s background, and the current situation. The film main antagonist to Venom, would be The Jury. Of course, I would tweak the team’s background and affiliates, to accommodate the story… and yes, they would be a major threat to Venom. Allowing Eddie to learn the scope of the Symbiote, as he approach the day he goes after Peter/Spiderman.

Forget the titles I once wrote, because if it was up to me, I would essentially name it “Eddie Brock”. Given the story is essentially about the man behind the mask. The second would simply be called, “The Symbiote”. Two films is all that is needed… Venom’s third appearance would be the showdown, in the TAS#. Simple titles, I know; but believe me, there is a significant reason for that, explained in each story. Understand, I would like to see the character re-invented, Eddie, the Symbiote, and Venom… as explained previous.

I think it can work if Sony, Columbia, and Marvel Entertainment have the balls. The anticipation of seeing Spidey vs. Venom, after two solo spin-offs, and the new tone of TAS… in conjunction with a re-invented, deadlier, more serious, mature villain in Venom; and, the new background of Eddie Brock, a better look or scope of the Symbiote. Those anticipating factors alone, imo, would make TAS# with Venom, a billion dollar film worldwide.

I can see this working and working well. But I think you can tell this story in one single movie called "Eddie Brock: Venom." All three parts that you speak of, can easily be written into one story/one movie, and still hold all of its impact.

To have Eddie Brock and the symbiote already fleshed out in a movie, and Sony announcing that it will merge it with the new Spider-Man film could be HUGE for an Amazing Spider-Man 4 film. I would personally want them to keep the suicidal aspect of Eddie and the fact that the symbiote doesn't come from Earth. The mystique and origin of the symbiote has to be celestial. No making the symbiote in a lab.

I was thinking about Venom, and the common criticism of Brock's lack of motive to kill Spider-Man. Here's I would address it: Originally, Venom was a pregnant woman who lost her husband and her baby in a car accident caused by driver distracted by Spider-Man. How about if we have a similar scenario, but the woman dies, and the husband survives and becomes Venom? This would give Eddie Brock plenty of reason to want Spider-Man dead, right?

Spider-Man could have accidentally injured Brock in a fight with another villain and caused him to lose his job, place of living, and the rest of his life. He could simply learn Peter's identity upon coming across the black symbiote.

I Kind of like the idea of a better developed Venom through a possible solo movie.

Only one thing to add: Since we're focusing on Venom we might be able to have the symbiote create some offspring in some way that can pay off later.
Not saying Carnage exactly but maybe an army of Symbiote men or something like that one game.

Although, seeing Spidey and Venom stop fighting to reluctantly join forces and take down Carnage is something I've wanted to see on film for many years.

I'd be happy with a Venom origin movie if they're planning on introducing him in a future TASM sequel. Introduce the symbiote in say, TASM 2 or something, end the movie when Peter gets rid of it, it finds Eddie. Begin the Venom origin movie with a quick flashback of the events at the end of TASM 2, jump forward to present day with the now bonded with the symbiote Eddie, and his antics as an anti-hero.

Thing is, who could be the villain in a Venom movie?

Morbius is cool but I don't want vampires in a Spider-Man movie. There's enough vampire movies these days.

Electro would be so awesome for ASM2. I'm really hoping to see him being adapted to the big screen.

Carnage.

There will be no way Venom will get his own film before becoming a part of Spider-Man's "universe" on film.
