This is the first Spider-Man game where I'm actually looking forward too. I tried Edge of Time and hated it. I just couldn't get into it. I played it for like 4 hours and quit.

that's 4 hours too long :rimshot:

Yea i tried to get through the whole game but physically couldn't. Easily one of the most dull games iv ever played.

Honestly, I had fun with it. It was by no means an amazing game, but the story kept me going.

Not for me. I'm glad I got it from Redbox so that saved me about $60 I'm debating if I wanna spend the money to get this one coming out or wait for some reviews to come around.

Activision has a horrible record with this franchise so id wait until we at least get some good gameplay footage. I mean everything looks good so far, but I'm not about to put any kind of preorder on this, yet. I still want to see some uninterrupted gameplay. Then ill be able to make a better call. We shouldn't have to worry tho. There should be plenty of previews and then reviews come release.

That sounds about right. Knowing me.. It's best that I do this. I usually get so hyped I don't think anything else til 1 hour into the game and I'm thinking "what a waste!" I did that for Force Unleashed II..

Between PAX, E3, all the upcoming villain reveal trailers, and possibly some more reviews of the demo that Beenox released; we should have plenty to feast on and be able to make a judgement on this game.

In one of those fan questions that the lead level designer answered he said there will be more combat footage shown this month. Maybe we'll get one of those "behind the scenes/making of" videos that highlights the new combat system.

Me personally, I liked EoT. It was fun. I realize I am highly outnumbered on this topic but it was a good little game. I'm just thankful that so far it appears that TASM is several steps above and beyond.

Yea id assume the game will be on the floor at E3(assuming they take the game), so there should be plenty of footage.

I've always loved watching E3 over the internet. I just hope I don't have to work the days of them. I'm not to worried about Wondercon

I see no reason why they wouldn't take the game. They had EoT on display last year. TASM is a bigger game so I'd be very shocked if it was left out.

Suppose we'll ever get to fight like this in a Spidey game?

I'd love to do those, will be the biggest supporter of free flow if that happens

Edge of time was the first spider-man game I didn't play, it was apparent from the jump that it was just a quick cash grab and nothing significant was really put into making the game. Shattered Dimensions was ok, but I felt like it was a step back from some of the good ideas web of shadows had. I really wanted to like SD, but after beating it I felt a bit disappointed. Seeing another game being made that was similar to SD made me give up on Beenox. But this new game is really looking good, it's gonna be hard to not watch anymore videos.

I drive my car in the opposite direction when it comes to SD

Well the difference there is the release window. E3 is less than one month before the game drops. I mean if the game has any bugs and the attendees notice them, there isn't anything Beenox can do at that point and things like that will get out to the public really quickly. I wouldn't be surprised one way or the other. I mean you'd have to assume they will use E3 as the final marketing push before the game drops, but with Activision, theres no telling.

but I felt like it was a step back from some of the good ideas web of shadows had.

But that game had NO good ideas at all. It was an awful, iredeembable game all around. Only reason some people even like it is because it had free-roam.

There was the wall combat mechanic, that on's cool

The one novelty that Web of Shadows brought to the table was the Web Strike, and even in that game, it was basically the "win button". Aside from that, Web of Shadows had very little to offer, I remember being stoked for the game and completely let down upon release.

I thought you were a huge fan :oldrazz:

I mostly agree with this. It had free roam and IMO the web swinging was very good. Other than that...it was a wash.

See my above comment about the positives in WoS. I was also very letdown by WoS. It had some great trailers and I was feeling good about the game...it was released and after finishing the game I was left feeling unfulfilled like a girl on prom night. :woot:

So you think they wouldn't have it at E3 based on what you're telling me? If there were noticeable bugs in the game, couldn't they issue a software patch update??

To each his own but I disagree. The wall running/fighting was a good idea, wall sliding was cool, the web-strike (even though overused) I still enjoyed and liked the slowed down stylized approach to it. There were also small touches; like wall running while web swinging, or catching a civilian mid-air, attaching a parachute then dropping them. They were putting ideas into the game that made the player feel like spider-man. If they had better voice actors and more polish it would have been my favorite spider-man game to date, but ultimate spider-man still holds that title.

On a side note, It might have been discussed already, but it would be nice if a developer would let the player change into the superhero. You never really see the change from normal civilian to superhero implemented in any of the games, I feel like i'm the only one that would enjoy it. I'm not asking to create specific gameplay for the alter ego, but I think the option to change into the superhero would give the player a more authentic feel of being him.

Those were some pretty cool touches to add to the gameplay, but overall alot of them felt unpolished, and I would even go so far as to say the developers got lazy with it. The wall combat looked cool, but I noticed on a few accounts, when you down an enemy on a wall, they fall as if the wall was the ground instead of falling off of the building completely. Also, Spider-Man's character model was pretty detailed and it did look good, but the same attention was applied to alot of the supporting characters (something about MJ just didn't look right). The trailers for the game served their purpose and got a lot of people interested in the game, especially after the not so great Spider-Man 3 game that came out a year prior, but sadly, it just didn't deliver well.

Now as far as changing in and out of costume, the idea of it would be great but that would mean the mission structure would have to change significantly giving Peter opportunities to do part of a mission as himself, then switching over and actually wearing the costume.

Of course it's gonna be at E3, a tie-in for one of the biggest movies of the summer, about a month from release. It's gonna be present. One of the last chances to get hands on impressions as well.
