This game just keeps looking better and better. Big question is... Should I buy it at release or wait a week or two and see what the reviews say? Either or my girlfriend is gonna have to deal with me playing this one lol.

wait a little for more game play videos. you can have it pre-order while your looking at those. if you see some thing you don't like you cancel cause the reviews will be air just before the launch. it's up to you on what you want to do though.

Another preview that sounds great. This is getting hard to handle.

Dude, I haven't heard or seen a single thing that's made me think that the game might not be so good, everything mentioned from the developers has been gold.

Yea id have to agree. At this point my only reservation is Activisions previous history with this character. Everything sounds wicked good.

Unless a pre-order bonus is too awesome to resist, my policy for any game is to just wait it out these days. Either because it might be a risky purchase or because I just know a huge price drop is right around the corner.

I understand that, but I took this information into consideration

-Combat refined, similar to Arkham Asylum =
-Rogues given more credibility for being included in the game =
-Camera issues to some degree have been addresses = big time
-Head into a battle any way you choose (head to head or stealth) =
-Spidey being able to use the environment to his advantage =

Those were pretty much the things that I wanted fixed that were present in the previous games, they addressed those issues, so in my mind I think that is gonna do this game alot of justice. Some of the previous games suffered from weak stories, but I can deal with a story not being that great and the gameplay compensating, but technical issues can totally mar the whole experience

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark, I'm assuming with his Username bing UltimateWebHead, the citizens of the Bat boards felt he had no say so whatsoever in regards to Batman's suit, at least I guess that's what happened :awesome:

LOL.

Which Bat suit we talking about? The Burton version? Shumacher version? Nolan version? Arkham Asylum version? All of em have been great minus Shumachers atrocities.

LOL. I was overexaggerating the situation to make the joke a bit funnier but yeah, it was pretty crazy over in the Bat threads.

Same for me. I have yet to really hear or see anything about this game that has me thinking that it will not be good. The only wrench in the monkey is the Activision curse, if you wanna call it that.

Yeah, I pretty much agree on all your points. Here is one point that I'd like to bring up and please add a comment with your thoughts.

So, one of the things they talk about is the "web rush back button." Which to me sounds just like Batmans grappling gun that allows you to get outta the thick of combat when sh_t starts getting too heavy. Here's my concern: Something that has bothered me with games like SM3, and even in SD, is you have human characters that are more powerful than Spidey. For example, in the SM3 game there are those Ninjas that move faster than Spider-man, are evasive to his web attacks and you can't hit unless you're in "spider sense" mode. Lame. I understand that they are ninjas but c'mon, they're still humans and they shouldn't be moving faster than him.

I hope we don't encounter the same thing in TASM and that is NOT the reason they have the escape trigger.

Oh I get what you're saying, you mean regular thugs containing a little too much combat prowess that what justify them being "the common thug" or "henchman". I totally agree with you on that, back when I played Web of Shadows, I distinctly remember getting knocked 60 feet away by a thug with a baseball bat, I was shocked, I had to go online and pull up the full list of Spidey's rogues to make sure I didn't overlook "Yellow dressed gangmember wielding a baseball bat." But yeah, I hope they fix that as well, I don't want Spidey to be extremely overpowered, but I want his movements and combat to invoke fear and incompetence in thugs.

No standard thug should ever pose a threat to Spidey, the same way no thug should bother Batman. They just need to be creative in finding ways to make those enemies a challenge. Arkham uses numbers and then will throw in some thugs with riot shields or stun batons etc. I think the same could easily apply here. Toss in thugs with riot shields and force spidey to remove the shield before he can drop the enemy.

100% agree, his encounters with thugs should only be as easy as the player makes it, time counters and punches correctly, no thug stands a chance.

I just might do this. There has been no word on any pre order bonuses information release have they?

LOL. Yeah, I guess you missed that issue when Spidey was overtaken by "Yellow dressed gangmember wielding a baseball bat." It was in issue #15 I believe :oldrazz:

I don't think the combat situations with "regular thugs" or any human enemy should be without some kind of a challenge but the challenge should be very minimal. Spidey is too fast, too strong and way too agile for any thug to pose a threat to him.

Absolutely. The only way I can see any standard thug being a threat to Spider-man is if there are 20 of them and half of them have machine guns and/or shields. In that type of scenario, I can totally understand how you may get in some trouble. But if Spidey is up against, say, 10 standard thugs, with nothing more than bats and knives...he should be able to mop the floor with them no problem. The challenge for the player should only be in making good attacks and counters. Otherwise, the thugs should pose no real threat to him.

The Arkham games were able to pull this off and i have a funny feeling Beenox will give us something very similar. We've already heard the comparisons with how the combat feels, so I'm sure the scenarios will be similar as well. You'll have your standard thugs then they'll start throwing in enemies with weapons and or shields.

As far as the thugs, ProjectPat2280 said it best, no standard thug should really pose a threat

I just heard the first bit of bad news concerning this game that honestly doesn't surprise me. Just note that i'm paraphrasing; but I just watched the latest invisible walls on gametrailers and one of the guys who was at GDC said the web rush stuff is really cool and that there were some great improvements to the game, but he did notice the game had alot of bugs that he believes might not be able to be fixed by the time the game is released.

Normally I wouldn't think too much of it, except i'm a little concerned the game might turn out like web of shadows- i.e. lots of great ideas, but not enough time to polish. Now I know Beenox says they've been working on this game for two years, but that could easily mean they had 2 people working on it for the first year and then the rest of the team jumped on after edge of time was finished (hyperbole intended).

When Spider-Man’s Spider Sense Tingles, Hit The Panic Button To Escape

March 19, 2012 . 12:02pmNew for The Amazing Spider-Man is a Metroid Prime-like visor mode called “web rush” which switches into a first person view through Spider-Man’s mask and highlights objects for him to swing on.

That's great

I still won't look forward to this as strongly as I want to do, but will hope for the best

Yea that's an absolute real possibility. 99% of all movie tie ins tend to be buggy as hell. It comes with the shortened dev time. The same will apply here. Hopefully the bugs won't be too bad and if need be, they can release a patch shortly after launch.

8 months for tweaking and the game is very buggy?:wow:
I think I'm glad I reserve excitement towards this game

If you can stomach Spider-Man 3, I think you'll be fine with this.

If the bugs are as entertaining and the annoying ones are pretty rare and don't force me to reset then I would.

Stomach it? Spider-Man 3 is a great fan service, with great creative and flexible gameplay, and I rightfully say that cause that is how it is

Anyways, after looking forward to Web of Stink and being severely disappointed by it, I still rather reserve judgment about future Spidey games, and due the first AC (average) game and Dead Rising 2 (bland and boring, "anything for a weapon" is the only good thing about it) being a let down I reserve judgment about any game before playing it, don't want to be disappointed the least
