The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 3

Why? Do people honestly care about pressing a button to swing, release, swing? I dont.

I think you're getting offended for no reason.

But there's a problem there. In the videos you can see him LAUNCH into the air and then just stop shooting any webs. In one video you can see him trying to shoot a web but he's at the highest point the game allows you to swing and he just keeps letting go. If it was on auto pilot, he wouldn't automatically go out of the boundary which he can continue to fire webbing within. Why would the game automatically stop him from swinging?

There's just too many points AGAINST this idea.

Offended for no reason? The two of you called me a troll and one of my best friends a liar. I would say I have reason to be offended.

Please, please, please show me where I said EITHER of those things about either of you. Really. Show me.

No one else said anything on this.. Im not attacking Rose but I have no idea who her source is.. And while she may trust this source... I dont.

So until I hear it from someone else or until I play it myself I'm gonna doubt this.

And then.. If it ends up true.. I still won't care. :p

Yeah, no one called you a troll.. They just pointed out some things that goes against what your friend said.

Hell, my friend said you swing yourself.. No autopilot whatsoever.

Is he a liar?

No. I am. Because I totally made that up.

God, now I'm confused. I really just want to know if this whole "hold the trigger to swing" thing is true, and if it is, I'd like to know why the hell they decided to change something that worked so well for so long!

first off note I said the two of you.

From Jericho

"Yeah, I'm not buying that statement. Just unneccessary flaming."

there we have calling me a troll

and your statements that its not true would be calling my friend a liar.

I'm glad for the Spidey 3 Black Suit, I actually like the suit and it also sorta like said confirms the original Raimi suit. Still hoping for Ben Reilly suit, Scarlet Spider, and the original Alex Ross Raimi movie design.

Beenox knows people like alternate costumes. It's safe to say there'll be plenty in there.

Well, the flaming thing wasn't me. So, that's not on me. The "lying" part, you misunderstood, which is ironic because that's what I was referring to. My last sentence was that you and your friend had a miscommunication. I meant that one of you didn't understand the other completely or something along those lines. Not that either of you lied. A miscommunication is accidental. Lying is on purpose. I never said you lied. So there's that.

And then there's this...

You're right. I decided to watch the developer diary to see if maybe I could get a hint at it, and it hit me in the face automatically. He does remain level when he swings and when he remains level, you can see Spider-Man follow through between swings (that's when he extends his right arm before any button is pressed) I always wondered how that was timed so well...now I know. Spider-Man raises in elevation when the player swings by releasing the trigger...WHICH IS THE CORRECT WAY, GOD DAMMIT!! *Ahem* I'm really pissed at this, but I'm not going to fully judge until I play for myself. It may work better than I think it will and I may even be pleasantly surprised. If not...well...I'll do my best to avoid that idiotic system.

The amount of times that people in this thread have loved and hated this game makes a quit amusing distraction. :p

Why are you guys freaking out? Maybe if you hold R2, it WILL auto swing, but that doesn't stop you from letting go and breaking the web and then pressing the button again to reswing.

I don't hate the game. Not at all. I'm just baffled by the absolute...NEEDLESSNESS of this change. Seriously, no one complained about the old system, nothing was wrong with the old system. Yet...they change it anyway. That doesn't make sense. It makes even less sense since they said they were drawing inspiration from Spider-Man 2, the game which created the swinging system of manually releasing and firing web-lines, and they disregarded it completely. Hmp...ironic, no?

I was freaking out when I thought that wasn't an option, but apparently, from people who have the leaked version, it's possible. So, I'm good.

I don't think it's as bad as you think it is, bud. In the old games you used to let go of the swing button to release, and you can in this too. Only difference is if you keep hold of it in this one, he'll keep swinging if you let it. From a lot of the swinging footage he's in the air most of the time because the player is doing it the old way, letting go.

Well i can say from the 3DS demo, you just hold the web swing button and Spidey does all the work. He'll raise and lower in elevation if need be. It works really well. Granted those are indoor environments but still. I dont see why people are freaking out, didn't you just hold the button in Beenoxs last 2 titles? Or did you have to press the button for every web line(i dont remember)

You had to press the button. I was just playing Edge of Time, just to look at it again, and you had to press the trigger for each web line.

Ah got ya. Well i can say that swinging in the indoor levels in this game will be better than it has been in previous games. As for the free roam environment, idk, but i know that no one has complained about the system.

You see Rose, If you have info on this game people are thrilled... If they don't like the info though, that just makes you a terrible, terrible person. It's quite simple logic.

Seriously, I can't think of any other game that people are so prone to get their pants in a twist about. It's like the 'robots' thing all over again.

Its the nature of the beast. Spider-Man has a horrid track record outside of a gem or 2(SM2 for arguments sake). We all expect to be let down based on the previous games, so when something good pops up, holy crap we get excited and say 'maybe this is the one'. Then, when they show or detail something thats less interesting or something we didn't really want, then its 'oh, there is the crappy Spidey titles we've come to know'. Until Spidey gets a string of solid titles(hopefully starting with this one) that dance will continue to carry on.

And for the record, i still dont want to fight f***ing robots. Not even a one.

This. If it was that bad, wouldn't someone have said something about it by now?? I dunno. I guess I'm gonna do things the old fashioned way and wait until I play the damn game before I pass judgement.

I Understand scepticism based on past games, believe me. What baffles me is just how frequently people swing back and forth, hate and like, get aggressive or become defensive, usually all reactions based on fairly small info. Playable Stan Lee? Ridiculous! Random events? Awesome! No air tricks? Wtf?!?!

It's like people are both totally disgruntled at Spidey games that they don't want to get their hopes up but they do desperately want to have a great game again that they're willing to give in and get excited. I could only describe that as an abusive relationship. It's like Spidey games are the abusive boyfriend that we "Just caint quit!"
