....Damn.

So help me... If Gwen is killed by the Lizard I'm gonna be so pissed..

Disregard that spoiler. I just read what Emma Stone had to say about Gwens death and how it SHOULD happen within this series.

Not to mention we have seen pictures of her in game character.

7.5, not bad at all, some of the complaints IMO are nothing that bad. I kinda disagreed with the model variety. I mean Spidey faces off with thugs, super-villains and from time to time robots, don't really see how u can vary up thugs, I mean, some with street clothes on, some in prison suits, some with ski mask on, some with baseball caps, what more did they want? Oh well, still getting the game

Based upon that review, I think the biggest factor for lowering the score to a 7.5 would have to be the 'automatic' swinging feature. Most people seem to favor the swing system in SM2 and considering this is one of Spidey's most notable attributes, the game is gonna get a big negative chunk taken out due to that. The rest of the complaints are minor ones, imo. The one part in the review that has me worried is the screen tearing issue. I really hope it's nowhere near as bad as WoS.

Agreed. I don't think character models looking similar should be held against the game. I mean... The thugs in AA/AC all looked pretty much the same. Hell, in AC every single thug was voiced by Nolan North. I didn't hold that against Rocksteady. :oldraz:

The main thing I want to know is how spoiler-ish is it? I mean.. Is it just "Oh Spider-Man saved the day" type of "duh" spoiler or is it an in depth spoiler as to how TASM ends?

If so... Stupid release date.

There's one spoiler I am aware of concerning Dr Connors. Beyond that, I've no idea.

Well if the web swinging ends up being boring, then i completely agree the total score should be docked a point or 2. I mean thats a HUGE part of the character.

Absolutely. I completely agree. However, I am not one of those people who are completely in love with the swinging in SM2 so if it's not exactly like that system...it's not a real issue for me. If the swinging ends up being too boring in ASM due to this 'automatic' deal, then yeah, I'm dropping 2 points off easy in my review.

I never thought the swinging would be that pivotal as far as what anchors the web, but hey I guess in this day and age with video games, people want those webs attaching to surfaces. On one end I can understand where people are coming from, but on the other hand, hell I just want the game to be good, where the webs attach to and what not can be addressed in the next game. This new freeroam Spidey game is like a prototype of sorts because they're introducing a lot of things that haven't been done before, so the whole "where the webs attach" thing isn't really a big deal for me. I'm pretty sure Beenox knows with every bit of good they try to do, their will be some things that didn't do as well as others. To a degree, they've addressed a lot of our concerns with previous Spidey games, so I think they will take the general responses into consideration when they start work on their next title

Yea i never had the love for the SM2 system either, then again i haven't played that game in ages. I did enjoy USMs system tho and i remember people knocking that.

I seem to remember an interview with a Beenox team member in which he stated that they tried to use the 'webs attach to bldgs all the time' method and for whatever reason it didn't fit with how they wanted the gameplay to flow. It makes sense but I also understand why those people who love the SM2 efforts would be upset. Again though, you and I are on the same page about this game.

I really feel for any developer that has to take on a Spidey game cause no matter what they do, there's gonna be backlash from someone. For me, this game is gonna be like any other game I've played...there will be things I love about it, things I am neutral on and things I hate. I just hope the love category is the biggest.

This is just me, I would think with the camera being so close to Spidey, the webs anchored onto buildings could possibly cause camera issues and might also create a nauseating effect on the player. IMO, i feel like they chose the safest route. Getting the camera to work with a character like Spidey could be a difficult task because his movements are sporadic, you want to create that sense of actually being Spidey, yet you don't want it to be a vomit inducing experience

I actually liked USM, as a whole, a lot better than SM2. Swinging included.

That makes sense. What I am guessing is kinda what you said...Beenox was going thru the motions of developing the game and came to a fork in the road. They could have gone with the swing system ala SM2 but maybe in the process would have to give up another feature, such as the closer camera. Or they go with the closer camera and lose the SM2 swinging. IMO, I prefer the camera. That's difficult to say though cause I have yet to play the game.

Me too, the way I feel is that any Spider-Man game could get dinged for something because the character has a lot to offer from a 2D standpoint, translating that to an interactive 3D experience is not so easy. For as good as the SM2 game was, it did have its fair share of problems as well, and the were times in that game where I was swinging and got completely turned around and had to regain my bearings. A lot of SM2's success comes from the novelty of having that freedom to go anywhere and do anything, that game came out 3 years after GTA 3, and we all know what kind of impact GTA 3 had on the world of video games, SM2 hopped on the bandwagon

From all the stuff we've seen, swinging aside, ASM should have plenty of upgrades over SM2.

Well from what I've seen of the gameplay videos, there were very little times where the camera went completely stupid on the player. For the most part, it tried to position itself in a way where you could still accomplish whatever task it was that you were trying to accomplish. Compare this to SM3 the game, and you'll see where the issue has been addressed pretty well, I can literally make the camera mess up in SM3 and trust me, stare at it long enough, you'll need a barf bag

The poor camera in that game was also due to the poor physics of Spidey himself. He had NO weight to him. The camera just couldn't keep up half the damn time.

Yeah, I think Beenox went with making a better experience with the camera and control...something that a lot of previous Spidey games had serious issues with, including SM3.

SM2 had it's fair share of problems.... Mostly the camera. Like you said, I got turned around a LOT on that game. I'd be headed to a checkpoint or whatever and all of the sudden the game would spin me around and I'd have to get my bearings again.

Like I said, I much prefer USM. In pretty much every way.

As far as I'm concerned

Spider-Man 3: Webs were anchored to buildings, everything went downhill from there.

TASM: Webs not anchored by buildings, all footage thus far looks to be a whole lot damn better than SM3 from a gameplay standpoint

I agree.

At least we don't have to jump through colored rings in the air to use some of our powers.

That's right. I'm looking at YOU Superman 64...

haha! I think that's what we need next...a really good Superman game.

Dude...you have no idea how much I keep wishing and praying that a Superman game is in the works, but there never is... :csad:

I bet WB is waiting for the Man of Steel to come out so that they can judge Superman's current popularity and the demand for a game.

Apparently Lego Batman 2 handles him extremely well. I wouldn't know as this is the SECOND factory disk defect I've had in two days...

I know what you mean. I would love a quality Supes game and it's sad that there isn't one. I was kinda hoping Rocksteady was gonna announce they were working on it around the time of E3.

Disk defects? That sucks.

Now that, I can definitely agree with you on that. I feel sorry for ol Supes, just never seems to really make it well in video games. I think he would be a developers nightmare, this guy can do virtually anything, incorporating that into a game and making it fun as hell, whew boy.
