The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 4

Am I the only one who finds it kinda boring that Black Cat is yet again in this game, when she could be totally replaced by e.g. Shocker who hasn't been used for a very long time now, and have the exact same thing going on?

That's one of my gripes about this game without having played it yet. The villains in this game just aren't exciting at all. The cross species and robots aren't able to talk and one of the things that make a great boss battle for me is the dialogue. That's one of the main problems with this game being tied to a film, and also why I want them to do a completely original game next time.

I would say wait until you play the game to see how she's incorporated into the game before you pass judgement. I was getting a little tired of her character as well because previous games had you chasing her, this time around its pretty different. I'm all for Shocker though

I never read the comics, but I thought the film made sense since Peter was wearing the suit at the time and it looked like the symbiote took over that. I remember in the cartoon, it happened while he was in his pajamas and transformed into any kind of attire, so it made more sense that it was its own attire and didn't have to be put on like it did in the film.

But of course, that's what made the church scene so weird in the film because Peter puts it on like a regular costume but then takes it off like it was attached to his body.
Agree on that, wish he just placed it in the trunks again

I haven't played the game yet, but I'm assuming there's no little kid asking you to bring back his balloon every 5 minutes. :p
Probably will stay exclusive to SM2

I hope they continue to work at this and aim for their next game to be Amazing Spiderman 2. I don't want a filler game in between.
Agreed

So i guess the Big Time suit also doesnt show damage? Either that or i just didn't take as many hits as i thought i did.
With the idea of using costume and bruises to replace health bar makes this sloppy mistake very inconvenient, but I will get over it if Spider-Man is invincible in those costumes

Just bought the Gameloft game for my HTC Thunderbolt, Freeroaming Spidey on the go baby!:awesome::up:

He's not. He takes just as much damage, it just doesnt show up on the suit. None of the suits offer any kind of bonus.

Yea unfortunately the more B list villains is what we'll be stuck with in these tie ins. Sony just doesnt give the dev team the rights to use many of the A list characters and then on top of that, you have them being more animalistic. I deff like the orig villains better.

I hope so as well. Though, I doubt he'd get more than a very small role in the beginning of that movie, unfortunately.

Has Black Cat ever lead a team of robbers in the comics? I never thought of her as that kind of criminal. I thought she'd prefer to do things on her own. That's why it feels so weird to have her in the game instead of Shocker, who'd much more fit as that kind of leader.

It almost feels as if Beenox felt that they had to include a female villain for the sake of equality or something because I see no point of having her in the game.

I think this was more 'Black Cat Begins', so to speak. After her mission you have to take some pictures of a robbery and theres much more classic Black Cat influence in the crime scene. Maybe she's just starting out at the onset of this universe? Thats how i saw it any way. I also rather have BC, in any form, over shocker just because i rather look at BC.

I just never found Black Cat that exciting and now we've had her in even more games than Shocker I think.

As long as they can make lesser villains work, it's fine

Yea I agree altho I don't like shocker any more than BC. Don't reslly care which one we get

I have to say I agree with the others who had to play for a while before the realization kicked in at how awesome the web-swinging is. I don't think it really hit me until playing last night. I just finished chasing down that damn rat (that was way too drawn out, one little negative.) The key is to FORGET Spiderman 2 swinging. You can't compare it. You really do have to have that "Ah ha!" moment where you learn to really use that combination of web rush and web swing to do things that you wished you could have done in Spiderman 2. Beenox deserves full recognition for their achievement! They took what was a small maneuver in Spiderman 2 to pull yourself towards a building edge by pulling both triggers at the same time (I forget the exact name for the move, but it always came in handy, and turned it into a massive control scheme that is used equally as much as simply swinging on the web-line, if not more. It might seem like simpler swinging at first, but beauty in it is when you truly get a grip on what is possible.

That CGI cut-scene in Spiderman 2 early on in the game showing him swinging through the city has long represented what many of us wanted to see become reality in a Spiderman game. That reality is here now. You just have to stop trying to swing like you are used to and start using a combination of steering, web rush and swinging.

This game is absolutely not a 6.75 or whatever it was and anyone who is avoiding the game based on that is being very, very foolish. I can already say that even beyond the webswinging, this game just for the overall experience alone so far rivals Spiderman 2. The second coming, indeed! This game deserved more push than it got leading up to it and deserves more attention now.

Not that anyone paid attention to it, but my earlier gripe about the design of the city still holds though. I do wish it had a similar "true to life" design the way Spiderman 2 did, but other than that.. it does look great! What's missing doesn't detract from the game.

As an aside, to whoever posted the spoilers about references to other villains that are made in the game that could be possible DLC... the spoiler tag exists for a reason. I work full-time and have other things to do in life. Not everyone is here with the goal to complete the game in the shortest amount of time possible for some bizarre bragging rights that no one gives a **** about and neither is the rest of the forum.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed he's been overlooked again. He's not the most well known character and some view him as not a real challenge to Spidey, but I'd love to see him in more games and even in future movies. He's got real potential there.

It would have been cool if he was one of the escape convicts and throughout the game as Spidey was doing his thing, Schultz could have been constructing his suit and weapons. During the side missions where you have to take the inmates back, Shocker could have been the very last one prompting you to fight him. They could have also made his weapons and suit look makeshift similar to Whiplash from Iron Man 2

That's a good idea. It would be consistent with his character and origin. Plus if the makeshift costume looked as good as Whiplash from IM2 then that would be cool.

yeah, he could have taken parts from defeated Spider-Slayers, possibly broke into one of Oscorp's labs and stole a few pieces of armor, just picturing that occurring would have been cool to see. I wish they would show how smart Shocker is as opposed to being some dumbass that just blasts things, I mean the guy was smart enough to make those contraptions

Yeah, he's got many qualities that make him a sort of mirror to Spider-man.

That's kinda all I really want out of Spidey's rogues appearing in games, I want them to be 3 dimensional and not just somebody in a suit that hates Spider-Man solely because of what he stands for. I picture in my head Shocker and Spidey battling it out in the city, Shocker tries to zap Spidey, misses and hits a building, causing an electrician to hang off of the ledge, Spidey cant get to him in time in which the guy falls onto power lines, getting shocked, and putting him in a coma, later we find out that the guy becomes Electro.

Basically, the villains that originate as a result of freak accident need to somehow have Spidey involved or have a motive for the villain to dislike him

I just finished the story, Awesome game, the best Spidey game to date, way to go Beenox! Combining webrush with swinging is outstanding wow is it fun, the story, the voice acting, so good, it's just a great game 9.5/10 AWESOME!:awesome::up:

The Black Cat is her title. She's not a cross species but she does have an animal name in her title.

I like having villains who aren't one dimensional either, but I don't think every villain needs a personal connection to Spidey (and I loved Molina's Doc Ock). It's still possible to have a good story for the character without it being about something either Spider-man or Peter Parker is responsible for. I'm not against changing Electro's origin somewhat, but I'd like to see something more substantial than just being a guy who's angry at Spider-man for not saving him.

I love Molina's Dock Ock, I actually felt sorry for the character, as for Osborn, I didn't feel sorry for him not....one...bit. I think with the Amazing Spider-Man game, Beenox wanted to play it safe and use villains that in their minds might be a little too over the top for a film per say, and also with the whole "cross species" thing, any villain that is very well a villain based on an animal, insect, etc, could easily be a candidate for that theme

As a Spidey fan who hasn't enjoyed a Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2.. is this worth my money?

I'll be honest with you, this game is very well the definitive Spidey game for this generation of consoles, is it Arkham Asylum great....not exactly, is it Superman 64 bad...not hardly. The game has some flaws, but none of those flaws are so bad to the point you can't enjoy the game. I wouldn't let any of the reviews knock you, the game is very solid and Beenox pretty much proved that they know their stuff when it comes to Spidey. If you enjoyed the combat of the Batman games, you'll enjoy it playing as Spider-Man, it's definitely worth the purchase and I'm sure others will agree

You mean as in DLC? I think the costumes confirmed so far are all that are currently present, but I think people have said that there were going to be costumes as DLC. Though it was never said what they might be.
