Spider-Man: Edge of Time - Part 4

The combat was one of the worst things about this game. Why would anyone want an arena mode?

Well, it's nice to have things :P Even if the combat is bad, and an arena mode probably is boring, it's always nice to have something new.

Oh and dammit Beenox, you should have your EoT/SD team working on that awesome comic book free-roam Spider-Man game that no doubt will be released in 2013.

Because maybe some people like it. Again, you've made your hate towards EoT pretty clear up to this point...just cause you dislike it certainly doesn't mean others have to follow suit. I enjoy the combat style of this game and there may even be some more bosses added to the arena mode which would be cool.

Oh if there would be bosses added to the arena, then I might even buy the game! That would be a very cool thing! (if it's new bosses, that is! like, Spot and Shocker or something)

This DLC they are releasing is stuff that they've had already made, it's actually hidden on the disc and you use a VIP Unlock Code to get it. Besides they have two different teams that worked on EoT and TAS.

Hey UltimateWebhead, has Beenox confirmed bosses for the arena mode?

Unfortunately, No, they haven't. I did send an email this morning to Beenox and got a reply within an hour...it was from J. Gendron. He said they can't say anything yet but once unveiled there will be some surprises for Spidey fans.

Although that doesn't say anything about any bosses, it makes me a bit giddy to find out what's in store. The bosses thing is just speculation but a few people have mentioned it.

Ah I see! Yeah, if the arena has bosses (besides the already existing ones) then that's definitely a buy for me. I love Beenox's boss fights.

On disc DLC is the worst. Why wouldn't they make it available from the beginning? There is no defending stuff like that.

And I know they have different teams, but I wasn't talking about TAS.

I really don't see what the problem is for it being on the disc. It's the same as if they were to release something over the PSN store only you don't have to download it and more importantly, it's free.

Yes it does.

Yeah it being free is certainly good. But if this is already on the disc, why not have it be available day one? It's just a ridiculous attempt to say that they're supporting the game when it should've been available all the time. Might have gotten some better review scores as well.

That is my problem, withholding something only to have it released later. Good thing it is free at least.

I prefer DLC on the disc rather than having to download it off the PSN. I hate when developers put thing on the store when the PS3 especially has more than enough space to hold the content. Id rather download an unlock code that takes 5 seconds and only 100kb on my HDD than the full thing which cane take over an hour and a few gigs on my PS3. If the content is ready and able to be shipped out when the game goes gold then they should put it on the disc rather than save it for download off the stores. I think its worse when publishers go the latter route

Yeah sure, I can see it that way to as I absolutely hate large downloads. But my point is, if its already on the disc and ready at release, why do we have to wait two months before we can play it? If it's on the disc day one it should be available day one.

As long as it eventually becomes available for free, I can't complain too much. I wish I could sue Capcom for the **** they are pulling. Having all the content on the disc and then charging you for unlock codes to get access to something that's already in your possession.

They finally revealed the picture of Ben Reilly's suit.

Oh wow I'm only now just seeing this. That looks awesome. It'll be what I rock whenever I get the game. Is it unlockable from the start?

No, you need to do challenges to get a key, in order to unlock it.

This and this.

The content is on the disc but since you didn't know it was there from the beginning it's essentially the same thing as it being offered thru the PS store.

If it was offered when the game was released then it wouldn't be BONUS content...which is what they intended it to be. It's free, unlike what other companies have done with some of their games so no matter how they offer it to us, let's remember that it's FREE.

Yeah yeah it's free and all. But why does it has to be bonus content? Why can't it be there from the beginning? It's like if the challenge rooms from Arkham Asylum would be released two months after and they were on the disc the whole time. It's just incredibly stupid. I'm not arguing that it should have been downloadable dlc, just that it should have been available from the get go.

"Oh hi guys, you liked Edge of Time? No? It wasn't enough content you say? Well that sucks for you. Oh and by the way, there is this major part of the game that you missed even though it was always there. We just didn't give enough ****s to make it available from the start."

What if Call of Duty or Battlefield had been released without online and then a couple of months down the line they'd say "Gotcha, it was there all along!"? Now I realize that this is a kinda bad comparison as online is the major selling point of those games but whatever. A (what I presume) big part of the game was unavailable from the start even though it was on the disc just so the could say they support the game.

I really am not understanding why you are complaining. It really doesn't matter whether it was there from the beginning or not. I look at it like 'cool, now there's more to do in the game.'

If Rocksteady came forward a month after the release of Arkham City and said, 'guess what everyone...now we're releasing challenge maps!' People would probably be excited about it even if it was something unlockable on the disc. Why? Cause it broadens the playing experience. BTW Batman will be getting some DLC in the future.

Call of Duty does the same thing. The online is part of the game, a necessary entity and something that they would never withhold. They release the game and then weeks or months later they release map packs. It's the same kind of thing only that you know that it is coming at some point...but you could apply the same thought process. "What?! NOW, you're releasing these new maps?! Why weren't they there from the beginning?!" See, that just sounds silly. Oh, and CoD charges you for the additional maps should you choose to purchase them.

It's all bonus content. It's a choice by the developer/company to decide how to release the new stuff but it still doesn;t change the fact that it is still bonus material.

Although that may be true...do you honestly care about the review scores? Yes, Beenox may care or Activision may care but they also probably don't. Spidey sells either way my friend.

I enjoy the games I enjoy because I like them...not because what some reviewer tells me to like.

Generally when DLC is released, it is stuff that had to be cut to get the game out in time, or something similar. Map packs for example, yes we all know they are coming. But they probably aren't done yet. Yes we know Batman is getting DLC, but it isn't done yet.

The two DLC packs that were released for Assassin's Creed 2, Bonfire of the Vanities and Battle of Forli was going to be included in the game at first, but was cut due to time constraints. Then after the game was out they finished the two cut episodes and released them as DLC. (Now whether or not we should have to pay for stuff like that is another discussion.)

This new stuff for EoT have been there all the time, then why not let us play it? I'm not saying people can't be excited for it, it's great that they are making it available. I just think that on disc dlc is lame as hell. Of course there is the bright spot that it's free but it's still lame.

This whole console generation have been this way, and unsubstantial dlc is the ****ing worst.

While I don't generally care about review scores as long as I enjoy a game. Activision and Beenox certainly does. Bad reviews put people off from buying a game, good reviews generally garner more sales. I for one still haven't bought EoT because of the scores. I'm not gonna fork over 70 bucks (yes, thatis what it costs here) for a mediocre game with six hours of content. Even if I would find it enjoyable.

And Spidey needs all the good scores he can get, contrary to what you may believe his games doesn't sell that well. Sure they sell enough to make their money back, last time I checked Shattered Dimensions didn't break the one million mark, and Edge of Time is probably never gonna get near it.
