The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 5

Not that I can think of but I seem to remember Beenox saying they were going to be supporting ASM after its release. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure a couple of the designers said they had some stuff planned.

Yea, which more than likely is just the DLC we already got. They'll just release that for those who didn't preorder.

I hope we get something more tho.

I'm finally getting a chance to play this and I'm still fairly early into the game, but I'm really having trouble with the fighting camera. I know they were inspired by the fighting in Arkham, but I wish they would move the camera back as well like they do in those games because its been hard to tell where my next targets are. Other than that, I'm really enjoying it so far.

They weren't cheat codes. It was VIP codes that released the content that was already on the disc. Look at how you want, but it was still free content that was released after the release of the game.

They were cheat codes. It doesn't matter if they were released a little bit after the game. They're still cheat codes, since they were content IN the game, and DID NOT require any downloadable component to unlock.

Yeah, the combat camera is a bit too close and takes some getting used to. I found that if you keep the camera rotating during the fights it makes finding the next targets a bit easier.

They're called VIP codes.

It doesn't matter if they were released a little bit after the game.

Actually it does. We had no idea that content was available until after we received the information from Beenox/Hero HQ and after the game was released. It may have been on the disc, but because we had no idea of its existence until notified...it's essentially bonus material.

Again, they were called VIP codes and it was still 'bonus' material that was given to us after the release of the game. The fact that you didn't have to download it just made it easier to access the content.

Come on you are really splitting hairs with this cheat code vs VIP code. At any rate, whatever you want to call it, the content was NOT DLC, which was his original statement. Going back and forth about what kind of codes Activision was calling the thing doesnt change that

I think the fact that I want DLC or bonus material so badly for ASM, it's driving me a little crazy. No word from Beenox. None from Activision.

*sigh*

I seriously doubt Beenox will release anything more in regards to the game, the film has already came and gone and it's been a little over a month since the game has released. As much as I would like some new DLC for the game, I just don't see them trying to keep that much longevity in a movie tie in. We might just have to go ahead and put this one in the books

I want Raimi's suit. I liked using the black Raimi suit, specially since it can be torn.

It's sad but most likely true. I'm not giving up hope though, not until something concrete is stated/printed. The PC version comes out on August 10th so maybe there will be some extra content released then, as a means to increase sales.

I'm glad that I decided to preorder the game so I was able to get that suit. But it would have been nice for someone to advertise that fact. I'm sure more people would have opted for the preorder knowing they would get the red/blue Raimi suit.

also, since the game really isn't a AAA title, Activision probably won't go out of there way for a game like this. Call of Duty has a huge fanbase therefore it gives Activision more reason to make sure those fans get DLC to keep them playing the game. Spider-Man on the other hand doesn't really get to share that same following, die hard fans will play the game through and through, newcomers may play it, beat it, and forget about it.

Nice post Alchemyst...now look what you did...you made Spider-man cry.

If Activision was really smart, instead of having yearly releases of the same character, they should have tried to bring other Marvel heroes in by having their own solo games. They could have practically had their own "phase one" which could have culminated into one big Marvel "Mass Effect" type game. In my mind, I've kinda already wrote it off that we may not ever get our "definitive" Spider-Man game until Activision loses the rights to the character, that which I find highly unlikely with the success of the Avengers and Marvel pretty much becoming the new bar in Comic Book films, Activision is gonna hold onto Spidey as long as they possibly can

Activision doesnt have the rights to release multiple solo Marvel titles. Up until recently Sega held the rights to Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and I think Hulk. Spider-Man and Wolverine are the only ones I know they have for sure. They most recently announced Deadpool.

I meant in a sense if they had the rights to all of those characters, as much as I can diss Slactivision, I think they would have did a somewhat better job than Sega did

Beenox is the best thing to happen to Activision, imo. They've created an awesome Spidey title despite the many obstacles that have been put in their way. They've made considerable progress since their first Spider-man game and with more time and experience, they can only get better. I really hope that as long as Activision keeps the rights to Spider-man they also keep Beenox around.

Anyone know what the sales were to this game? Its hard to find now that the NPD doesnt release that stuff any more.

I would hope Activision keeps them around, I give Beenox a lot of respect. They came to the table playing it safe with Shattered Dimensions, EoT tanked, and then came back strong with ASM, despite what people may think of the game. Alot of the complaints made by people are the ones who just can't keep ASM and SM2 out of the same sentence. As I've stated before, if you're the type of person to get emotional because the webs don't physically attach to EVERY surface, you're every bit of an idiot, how many other games out there cheated physics in some sort of way. Those same naysayers bow down to an Italian plumber who runs around breaking bricks by jumping up and headbutting them.

I think that's quite ignorant and uncouth of your part.
Webs sticking to any surfaces changes the gameplay in a drastic way. Hence why SM2's and TASM's swing system are so different.

It's not about cheating physics.

Not really, it doesn't change the gameplay, you're still getting from point A to point B, it does add to the angle that he is swinging from, but I don't see it as one of the types of implements that completely makes or breaks the game. If you look at how alot of the missions are set up, anchoring the web at certain points would make some missions seem more tedious as opposed to fun, especially taking down the Spider-Slayers, I can't really imagine those missions being tackled if his webs were being anchored to buildings, given how fast paced those missions are, but that's just me. Sorry if my previous comment came across as uncouth, but that's just the way I feel. Spider-Man games have never been part of a certain "continuity" therefore, I don't think they have to follow a predecessor, games like Mass Effect all take place within a certain continuity, so each game in the series has to play the same. For a person to compare ASM to SM2 is ridiculous in my mind because those are 2 games from 2 different generations, one which being almost 10 yrs old

I really think Beenox should look into using a web system that makes players use the buildings around them. Swinging around with the web rush reticle, I always imagine targeting the side of a building and getting the perfect anchor point for a web swing. I REALLY think it has potential to be the best web-swinging system if they had players do that.

I would THROW money at them if they gave me a Hulk game akin to Ultimate Destruction.
