i watched it last night here are my thoughts...

i thought it was very good, to me it's up there with Spiderman 2. It feels very different to the previous films we have seen which, i think was maybe the issue with the original.

The swinging through New York in 3D is amazing, totally nailed it.

It's a massive loss with Gwen dying to the movie

the chemistry between those two, gives the films a terrific grounding for the rest of the film.

Electro is a good villain, not amazing, i don't think they totally nailed him from a story sense. Harry's arc is good, again

The goblin felt a little underused he was in it for 2 or 3 minutes, although his actions have a big affect on the story

All in all it feels like it's building into something big that if they nail it, it could potentially make this trilogy very impressive but it could as easily be ruined by the wrong decisions.

As many people have said Gwen's death is done really well, very sad. Im glad they went with the neck break rather than Goblin's glider and Pete and Gwen having a final moment. It has more impact thet they don't have a moment knowing Pete can't ever speak to her again.

Go and watch it guys you will enjoy it, im really looking forward to the next film, it's a step up from the original which i thought was a good film if flawed at times it didn't feel fresh, this one does.

She's a smart woman. Perhaps she didn't know how close she was to the ground but probably knew she was falling too fast for Peter to catch her safely.

I listened to the score at home and i was thinking this isn't zimmers best work but listening to it again after watching the film i now love it!

I'm not going to attempt to argue with people who dislike ASM2 because even though I don't agree I can see their point entirely.

A movie like TDK or Iron Man is going to be almost universally loved, a movie like ASM2 is going to polarise people. All I can say is ASM2 had what I want in a superhero hero movie and more importantly, what I want in a Spider-Man movie.

Same here. What people call 'campy' I like, especially in Spider-Man. It's endearing and full of character. I liked it with Raimi and its here too. The scenes with May - laundry, chimney, having a cold and taking down the thief, etc. I think it would be a sad day if that material was cut away.

Thing is people can love campy movies and hate other campy ones. Campy or rather comic booky or cartoony works for Spider-Man.

Tonally i thought this looked and felt similar to Avengers, which one of those universally loved ones.

I absolutely loved the darker tone of ASM but the truth is, Spidey is a 'fun' character and I guess his world should reflect that. After the realistic and moody WS (which I liked) I loved just having 'fun' with a superhero movie.

The audience in my second viewing were much better, they were laughing, I heard actual crying, and it got louder as more people broke down, was very cool! When it ended people actually clapped, I wish I filmed it.

My family LOVED IT, so glad I didn't spoil the ending as they said at the end of the film they were so glad I didn't! Thanks Perry! I heard plenty of chatter after the film, tried to write down what people said

The General Audience LOVE it guys, it is an emotional rollercoaster.

If you look at it as a spiderman themed love story with the villians in the background, I reckon you'll love it. The only thing I'll change from my last review is I am now giving it a 9.5/10!

My biggest gripe with it is the ending. I wish they had not ended it with spidey and really let is sink in what just happened. I really hope we see how what happened in this film has affected him in the next.

I was so shocked and happy (not in the sadistic sense) with how they did gwens death. To see the snap... I didn't think they'd do THAT. Incredible.

It was one of the best parts of the movie IMO. The graduation video scene really got to me, this film's equivalent of Ben's voicemail message in TASM. I thought it was the right note to end on, and the little boy was a great addition to the plot.

Don't you mean spidey 2? Bigger problem in that story was that he didn't come back because the city needed him or whatever...he got his powers back when he saw that MJ is in danger [as usual] and that was really bad IMO. It was like he didn't care about anyone else.

After spidey3 i was glad they're done and I enjoyed the reboot. I wouldn't be able to watch another villain taking MJ hostage. How repetitive Raimi can be?

So glad to hear this, BRAB. It's weird, but I actually got a lump in my throat reading your account of the audience reaction... and I haven't seen the movie myself yet! It really does make a difference when you see a movie with a spirited crowd, who react how the filmmakers intended... it makes the whole experience so much more communal and impactful. And to have your family with you, all emotionally invested, that's really terrific.

Good point, but what I meant was if they left him just being Peter in ASM2 then I wouldnt want to wait in ASM3 for him to decide to be Spidey again.

My one take away from the movie is they totally NAIL Spider-Man. 5 Spidey movies and this is the first time he 'feels' like Spidey and the quips absolutely cracked me up something no Spidey movie has managed in the past.

That is the greatest thing about this movie. It really features the title character for the first time in five attempts.

If you want to see Spider-Man himself onscreen, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is by far the best movie to watch.

Just seen ASM2 in Aberdeen and honestly I can say I'm glad I did not read the critics views. 10/10 my vote.

I loved every bit of this flick and Electro certainly sparkled for me anyway. Harry/Norman scene had me on the edge of my seat and the finale fab. Again I SO LOVED THIS MOVIE

I've seen it twice and not that I noticed.

Don't want to get your hopes up but I do think Mysterio has been hinted at once more in ASM2

Just back from seeing it and was FAB.

The scenes where we see Capt Stacy could be illusions and also my eyesight is not bad at all but when you first view the scene of Harry with board members look carefully at the two pictures left and right of Harry's head.

The image I got looked quite like Mysterio's eyes & pattern from his costume.

You also see this same pictures on wall later.

Plus just a little hint with the space man suit. Again these are just possible links but I would like to see what other folks theories are.

I can totally see why you think that, but I always thought that Doc Ock's confrontation with Peter and his capturing of MJ knocked him back to his senses because he was putting the personal stuff aside, finally. He sees the love of his life in danger, and he comes back to his senses, thinking "forget MY problems, she and the city are in danger!" His line with Harry, saying "There are bigger things here than me and you. Harry please, I've got to stop him" is the line that solidified that for me.

Also, remember his conversation with MJ in the hospital in Spider-Man 1? About how when he looks into her eyes, he knows what kind of man he wants to be? Peter Parker's loved ones have always been a source of strength for Spider-Man. You can call that selfish, but I think that's beautiful, and it showcases how Peter's love interests end up saving him as much as he saves them. It gives his love interests more dimension other than being the hot damsels in distress, too.

I completely agree that having MJ captured in Spider-Man 3 was redundant. To my understanding, had Bryce Dallas Howard not gotten pregnant, Gwen would have been the one that Venom captured (which would have made SO much more sense!). Also, I believe the original plan was for MJ to convince Harry to help Peter in the final battle, instead of the Butler doing that, which also would have been so much better. Le sigh.

Anyway, I went on a tangent. About how TASM2 ends: I'm totally all right with the movie ending on a positive note instead of it ending on Peter deciding to hang up the tights until near the end of TASM3 (that would pretty much be copying Spider-Man 2, which would be repetitive). As long as they give him some time to grieve in the film, that's fine. Pacing is the key for that. It also makes Gwen's character more poignant for her to still inspire Peter to keep fighting (it would show how strong their love was, IMO), and I do think it's awesome that the movie ends with a "Hell yeah, SPIDER-MAN!" moment. I feel that the first TASM movie really, really needed one of those moments.
