Unfortunately I will be on a plane flying to Charlotte as the movie hits but I will be coming back to Boston the next day so I will catch it that weekend.

Dude, you mean Charlotte in the state of North Carolina? Awesome!! I was born there. What you're doing in Charlotte anyway? Mock them for Panthers loosing to your Pats in the Superbowl 38 or something? I still have the scar from that lost. Heh! :p :p But have a safe plane trip there.

Yes my friend, NC. I will be visiting with a company there that I do alot of business with. I will try not to mention the Superbowl heh heh.

My honest take? I recommend reading Garth Franklin's column on Superman on darkhorizens.com.

Because this is a 'vague sequel' the comparisons to the older films will be greater than having a reboot. Meaning, Routh could do a good job, but is because he's a good actor, or a good Chris Reeve impersonator? It may not be an original take on the character, but an interpetation of another ACTOR playing THAT character. Samething with the source material.

I'm looking foward to the movie, but it could be too old school for the new generation of fans. Now, it's almost a mandate for comic book movies to be faithful to the comic books. I'm sure that Singer got that with Superman (and X-Men). But fans also like easter eggs or obscure references too. I doubt that SInger got that. Maybe that bar and the bartender but that's all I can think of. No STAR Labs. Or whatever.

I think that Superman Returns could a good start to a new franchise. I just hope that Singer can get the ball rolling..

It's ok. If there is trouble I can call on Metropolisman and his posse since they are from the area.

That is a very interesting way to look at it. Is Routh really playing Superman/Clark or is he playing Reeve as Superman/Clark? Food for thought.

I have nothing negative to say about this film. I've followed every version of the new Superman film since about 1997 and have waited since S5 for a new one to be released. I could care less if it's a slight origin retooling, modified/repeated elements from STM, there's a kid, Lois has a fiance, , Lex is camp/not camp, if Singer calls it "Titanic with superpowers", there are no superpowered villians, Jimmy comes outta the closet, etc.....I'm just thrilled "Big Blue" is on the screen again. I've seen about 3 minutes of this movie via teasers/trailers/Singer's prod vids/etc and I'm totally hyped.....this movie won't disappoint!!

These kinda questions are usually a bit too nerdy for me LOL, but it's easily a combination of both and more we haven't considered.

Not me man. I don't want to see the origin again.

blame the artist in me. it's not that i don't like Donner's version of the Supes's origin, in fact i love the imagery...i'd just like to see the origins presented in a different way...

...for instance, Superman's suit is never explained in Donner's origin. we can assume that Jor-El packed it in the ship before he launched it, but why did he make Supes's clothes so drastically different than what the Kryptonians normally wear?

that's just one of the many things i'd address if i were at the helm.

Ya,its the only problem I have ever had with S.R. No \S/ on the cape.I understand why,but still....

I didn't like the belt logo and the idea of no logo on the cape. I didn't understand that concept until researching that the belt logo has been done and of course the no \S/ on the cape has as well.

If you were doing the origin than it might find it's way in. You have to remember that as long as it pushes the storyline forward it is fine to include those details.

of course...the storyline is the most important thing, but that's just one example of why i'd like to see a new origin movie.

but alas, we're given Singer's version of Donner's Krypton...and that's perfectly fine with me. :D

If you are interested in the his journey to earth as the 1st part of the origin than by the prequel comic. I just picked it up and it screams STM.

This thread still goin' on?

Most people who get upset about GAM are the ones who were not invited to join.

as for civilty.. unfortunatly is does not work.. nice idea C lee and showey.. but once again this thread has prooved that "certain people" cant do it. these people are the hippocrits.

Really ? Most people in their 30's would consider it pretty sad that a man nearing 40 years of age, has to start a childish gang. Its more a case of disdain and amazement, than a desire to jooin in the playground antics.

As the wannabee mod above states, civility wont work when it is asked for, because half of them think they are omnipotent to such views and can declare their own but screw everybody else. Then have he has the audacity to call others hypocrites (notice the correct spelling ?).

How many official warnings you on now ?

It's basically just STM as a comic book but I know you would like it, I thought it was pretty cool. They even had the Kents as spitting images of their movie counterparts.

Only because Jack Bauer has endorsed it with his scowl.

And what a scowl it is. Although, this is kinda off topic at this point :-/...it was a noble effort Showtime.

I personally have no beef with GAM, in fact, I didn't even know what it was until yesterday...but don't you see an inheirant problem with a group made to promote civility on these boards calling themselves "Gods Among Men" (which sounds a bit arrogant) and inviting certain people to join then telling others "You're just bitter because we didn't invite you"...it seems to contradict your mission statement.

Notice how the one constantly accused of being the "problem" on this board (myself) actually tried to make this thread work? Same with the other civility thread.

I dont recall anyone here being told "your bitter because we didn't invite you". As I recall, any membership to this GAM deal was pretty open. Hey, I got a membership, so I doubt that any group that lets me be a member have high standards.

As for the comment "but don't you see an inheirant problem with a group made to promote civility on these boards calling themselves "Gods Among Men" (which sounds a bit arrogant)", sheesh, try not to sound to full of yourself. It's a tounge in cheek reference, get a grip man.
