I haven't seen the film but many have, so I have only one question, to 3d or not to 3d? please follow your answers with detailed explanations as to how you came to your conclusion. Thanks for any responses.

I just bought tickets for the midnight show, and there were less seats for the non 3d show than the 3D...

I'd say nay, just because it wasn't filmed in 3D. I haven't seen it yet, but I bought my tickets for the midnight showing in 2D. In fact, I saw both Thor and Captain America at midnight in 3D last year, and both times the theaters that were showing the 2D versions were more packed than the 3D ones. Not making that mistake a third time.

I am not a fan of 3D being used in films, unless it was porn, in which case I would like DD :woot:

It's a shame that it wasn't shot in real imax as well... thats the reason my IMAX isn't playing it, they don't do digital

Yay 3D for me.

Only film I saw in 3D was Iron Man 2 and I loved it.

So Avengers in 3D means I would love it so much I'm going to impregnate it.

Here's BleedingCool's review on 3D:

There are of course some pros and cons.

The pros being all the action scenes (despite the reviewer having a stigmatism) with the Hulk towering above you, feeling like you're inside Iron Man's suit with him, and feeling that you're right there with the team as Captain America leads you.

The cons were the Chitauri looking more CG in 3D and some of the flips Captain America makes looks like a video game.

In short, BleedingCool gives Avengers in 3D a go!

BleedingCool ends it with this:

You’re going to love this film. So many great scenes that will burn into your retina (in 3D, natch), such great dialogue, so many moments that will live with you and and that you’ll be quoting at length afterwards. Avengers 2, however? It needs to be about something much bigger than itself.

I have never liked anything I've seen in 3d. No way would I want to potentially ruin my first viewing of the avengers with a format I don't trust.

If i see it a 2nd and 3rd time, maybe. But for the first time, hell no.

I'll see the 2D version, I don't like how the 3D makes the film look dark and don't care for it.

How much are IMAX tickets usually?

depends on location and time of day. I live in Michigan and at a local theater they can be 7 dollars for matinee and 14 prime time and 15 for 3d

Make sure to see it in IMAX. If there are no 2D IMAX showings then definitely see if in IMAX 3D.

Going to see it in IMAX 3D tommorrow night so I'll post my opinion on here soon after.

Again, there are scenes where you feel immersed in the 3D, but a couple darker scenes where it's hard to look at.

I could either see it in Imax 3D or just 2D. I went with the Imax. Right move? By the way every ticket is sold out already for the Premiere here in Orlando

Thanks this was pretty much what I was looking for. Honestly I would normally just kinda bypass any post production 3d cuz its usually pretty horrendous in my opinion. But Iv read a couple reviews that were blatantly praising the 3d, so I figured Id get a second opinion.

Iron Man 2 was never released in 3D.

Apart from Titanic, the best conversion I've seen, good depth, it looks really good in the battle at the end, but it's dark and not necessary.

Nay.

Oops I meant Transformers. I was talking about Iron Man 2 previously and subconciously had it stuck in my head.

But really Iron Man 2 was never released 3D? Why didn't they do that?

Anyway I'm for sure seeing Avengers in 3D already purchased my ticket online.

Says he's not a fan of 3D, but he loved Avengers in 3D!

Says it's seriously worth it, and says the he recommends seeing the last 30 minute action sequence in full 3D.

I will never see a movie in 3D if a 2D version is offered.

2D. I wear glasses and just dislike 3D in general.

Well, i saw it in 3d. Sometimes works great, other times not really...i thinks in general it turns the movie greater!(sorry the english)
