Gustin didn't make a bad Barry on Arrow. Yet to see him in action though. I'm really digging' Amell as Green Arrow though. He's a boss.

I liked him a lot and thought he did great with what he was given.

Back to the OP,

not sure if I've posted it in this particular thread but my choices are
related to which Flash shows up (and IMO there's nothing wrong with
having both of them, given the amount of time travel that goes on in
the Flash series).

For Barry

1. Chris Pine, he's got the look, and quite a bit of charm and humour,
which are essential parts of Barry's character.

2. Garrett Hedlund, also has the look, not quite as charming as Pine, but
believable as an earnest and likeable Barry.

3. Ryan Gosling, has the look, probably could carry off the humour, but
my only concern is that he may not have Barry's earnest moral centre.

4. Bradley Cooper, not quite the look, but he's got a lot of personality that would carry the film, and gets better with every performance. I reckon he'd bring a great energy, humour and warmth to the character.

To be honest, given his personality, I think that Ryan Reynolds would have been a much better choice for the Flash.

I can't comment on Grant Gustin, as Arrow hasn't got that far down here yet. Mind you, if he turns out to be good, why not make the leap to the big screen, from the small screen.

For Wally, again, given the time travel possibilities you could have a young Wally, and then an adult Wally showing up. These choices are based on Wally as a young adult, in his late teens to early 20's

1. Logan Lerman, say what you want about Percy Jackson films, but he's likeable, which is the key to making Wally a good character - he's a hot-head but he's not an annoying ass.

2. Josh Hutcherson, another pretty likeable kid (capable of range of emotion, i.e. Bridge to Terabithia ) can hold his own onscreen with actors with much more presence.

And that's where I'm up to so far, but hey it's all IMO.

If any of you folk up there in the Northern hemisphere have seen Gustin's Flash, or even his Barry Allen, and want to share some thoughts, I'd love to hear them.

cheers.

I would add Jake Gyllenhaal on that nice list. I think Jake has the personality of Barry Allen and would be excellent as Flash.

I´m up for Ryan Gosling or Bradley Cooper

Now thinking of recent rumors, what you guys think of Matthew Goode as Barry?

Hate it...not a fan of Matthew Goode in anything, and I thought he was the most miscast character in Watchmen. I'd like to like him as an actor though...just based on what I have seen of him, I have yet to find some way to like him yet.

Really Ryan Gosling is the best guy for this job. He'd be so perfect, but he may be overqualified, and he is kind of a big star to do a role like the Flash. He will always be my number 1 choice for Flash though.

I was too. Common as John Stewart and Adam Brody as Flash were the two best castings for that movie.

I'd take Caflin, Goode, Hedlund or Ackles over Gosling.

I don't want any more A-List actors Affleck is enough.

Personally, I think Gosling should be reserved for Joker duties. That's more of an actor's role.

Gosling as the Joker... now THAT is some out-of-the-box casting. Could be interesting.

Anyway, most of the actors mentioned here could work, I think. I like the idea of Goode. While I'll agree that he was one of the weaker aspects of Watchmen (mostly because he looked too young and because they did very little to hide the fact that he's the bad guy) he's been great in everything else I've seen him in. I think he could make an interesting Barry, though I think I'd prefer him in a villain role.

However, I think he could also make a goode Batman, if the rumors about Ben possibly dropping out of the project are true. Not saying that I hope he WILL drop out... just throwing it out there that I think Goode would be a goode choice. Here's to hoping that his role on The Goode Wife won't keep him from landing other goode opportunities in goode movies.

How about Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey if they want a up and coming actor? He is playing the villain in the third Night Of The Museum movie and his film The Guest has gotten rave reviews at the Sundance film festival with people comparing his performance to the T800 from Terminator and Gosling's driver character in Drive.

I thought Goode was brilliant in Stoker, what did you think? And I agree he was terribly miscast as Ozy.

Goode himself said he was miscast. Goode said when he turned up on set all the design stuff for Ozymandias had Jude Law in :funny:

Goode said his friends kept telling him that lots of people on the internet were saying he ruined Watchmen. Matthew Goode had a good sense of humour about it though.

I thought those castings were the best of that movie too. Common could have worked as John Stewart and Adam Brody could've worked as Barry Allen/The Flash...I could've seen it back then.

Didn't see it. :-/

Oh wow, so Jude Law was being considered for Ozy at some point? Interesting. And that's cool that Goode is like that, I like actors who are like that.

Well at least Eisenberg wasn't cast as The Flash/Barry Allen.

:awesome:

And I mean that in sincerity.
