Yep....I got to meet her at the Superman Festival in Metropolis Illinois around 20 years ago. She was real sweet.
I haven't been to Metropolis in around 12 years....so I will tell you a story about how things were run there then....things could be different now.
They would bring in multiple celebs that were comic book related. I would have to find my scrapbook to say who else was there that year (and I don't want to search the garage) so I'll just speak of Yvonne. The organizers would have a different celeb at a different place in the town (a bank, the library, etc) during the morning....and them all together at the chamber of commerce in the afternoon. If you wanted a chance to get all the celebs autographs at the CoC....you had to stand in line outside on the sidewalk (and it gets damn hot out there).
I got in line at the CoC because I liked to get as many autographs as I could, and I was fairly close to the beginning of the line. After waiting there for awhile, the celebs were brought there from the other sites. All of sudden Yvonne showed up and there was a commotion. It seems that when the organizers told her to leave the site she was at, she was upset that some people had been waiting in line for her autograph and were now being told - sorry but you don't get one -....this did not sit well with her. She quickly tore strips off of a yellow legal pad and gave the strips to people who didn't get an autograph. She told them to meet her over here at the CoC. She came out of the door, sat right down on the sidewalk, and started signing things for the people with the strips of paper. After she signed all their stuff she went in with the other celebs (and in the air conditioning) and the organizers started the line moving. In my scrapbook I have pics of her sitting on the sidewalk signing things. She cared about her fans.
