The Batman General News & Discussion Thread - Part 2

Dafoe's Joker would surely be ludicrous enough to threaten to dock Batman's wages over insubordination or something idiotic like that lol.

:hehe:

I mean I'm half joking, but I loved Dafoe and Pattinson together in The Lighthouse and wouldn't mind they work together again. And while I have Joker fatigue too, I wouldn't mind getting something like Arkham Asylum: ASHOSE for a finale if Joker is going to be saved for last. I'm up for anything ultimately though and trust Reeves.

Nolan didn't have a trilogy greenlit from the start, and Reeves does, so honestly it's possible. I'd prefer for it to be more organic. But I could also see just one final scene *before* the credits being used too. We'll see.

I want Oscar Isaac desperately in this trilogy, I think he'd be amazing as any villain, including Joker, Freeze, Dent, etc. but he could be really cool visually for Hugo Strange. Strange as a doctor in Arkham maybe? The cool thing about the character is he's sort of a blank slate for reminaginings.

Definitely on board for the Hugo idea. I'm very curious to see how many non-main Batman villains Reeves uses. Originally I was completely convinced it would be mostly all Adam West + Two-Face but after the trailer I can definitely see some lesser known villains popping up.

He was pretty great in Scenes From a Marriage.

FYI- ***I moved some of the posts that were getting into borderline spoiler territory to the spoilers thread***

This is going to be a tricky thread to needle as the line blurs between speculation, "informed" speculation, and outright spoilers. Especially when we have people like ViewerAnon and Kris Tapley out there tweeting stuff out in the open. Appreciate you guys using spoiler tags. We'll have to adjust as we get closer to the film, but if you have to ask yourself if it's a spoiler-- I'd say air on the side of caution and use the spoiler thread, and still spoiler tag it in there for good measure.

Thanks all.

I think WB and Reeves will be able hand pick who they want for the sequel. I’m sure Rob is going to get a big pay increase.

Just finished first episode last night. Great stuff. He's one of my favourites around. So good in Inside Llewyn Davis, Ex Machina, At Eternity's Gate, Most Violent Year and Card Counter. Can't believe Dune is in two days.

Whoa, when did you become a mod and why?

Can you imagine the second movie being set at winter time in Reeve’s gotham with Freeze as the main villain. :wow: I’m praying so hard for that to happen and I would absolutely love if Two-face was in the mix as well.

Those are my 2 favourite batman villains and I think they would compliment each other really well in a live action movie.
How so, if you don’t mind me asking. They are literally nothing alike and have completely different motivations.

I noticed Shauner mentioned Abrams’ Superman above. Considering Reeves and Abrams’ long friendship, what is the likelihood of Abrams’ Superman and Reeves’ The Batman crossing over? I think if Pattinson’s Batman crosses over with anyone it would be that. It’s pretty interesting that Reeves threw in some Superman Easter eggs in The Batman.

I would ****ing love a proper World’s Finest movie. But not without proper build up first. This Batman is still early in his career. Maybe it could look like this:

I kind of enjoy thinking of The Batman as it's own world. Like how the new BTAS Caped Crusader was described. There's no Superman, no Justice League, no nothing.

yea, while i enjoy stories where batman goes on these missions w/ the JL, i feel he always works better as a character in his own contained universe.

he originally came from the world of the pulps - where he's fighting gangsters, mad scientists, and psychotic villains.

none that alien stuff.

at most, he deals with vampires and ghosts - but thats all domestic to earth .lol.

These themes were explored a bit in TDK, so I'm curious what Reeves will do with it here.

i can imagine reeves will delve deeper into these themes than nolan did.
or show another aspect of it that the previous movies didn't.

For the record I don't want sexy Joker either.

I'm fine with ugly Joker admiring himself in a mirror or something like that but please no hunky Joker. And before anyone says anything, they covered Heath in a Glasgow smile and runny makeup and made him look dingey. He wasn't really "sexy".
