The Batman General News & Discussion Thread - Part 2

I'll be content if Hatter never appears at all. I can't really see Hatter getting involved with some power struggle for Gotham, so the most I can see is using Tetch as some creeper on a street corner trying to lure kids to his wonderland or some ****. Just to show how f'd up Gotham is on a daily basis. But beyond that, meh. Never seen the appeal.

I'd rather see Ventriloquist any day of the week over Mad Hatter.

Mad Hatter is appealing from a visual perspective. Provides the opportunity for some psychedelic fight sequences. Scarecrow kind of provides that too, but Hatter is more like a psychedelic LSD trip, whereas Scarecrow is just pure fear with hallucinations.

I just re-read Legends Of The Dark Knight Halloween Special #1, which features Scarecrow. I think That, combined with his origin story from Batman Annual #19 would make for a great movie!

I think you can do the whole psychedelic thing without Mad Hatter.

don't wanna digress, but do y'all think Something In The Way makes it to the movie? end credits at least? I remember we were discussing Matt using it in the film when the first teaser dropped. They used it again in the trailer, so i think there is a high probability of that.

Might be the piano version heard in the featurette.

I'm sorry, you want Syd Barrett to rise from the grave and play the Mad Hatter? :hehe: Because I'd be down for that, so long as you're supremely confident of your abilities at necromancy, oh dark lord of the netherworld Mindreaper!

Ventriloquist would be ****ing awesome as a secondary villain. Nolan-Crane type of sized role.

Perfect guy to bridge the gangsters & the freaks, one foot in both worlds. Organized crime war, he's the third gang/losing party, gets offed by Harvey or Penguin. Those two survive but Bats manages to get Harvey back in Arkham and maybe Pengy does a few years prison time. Both to come back another day.

I’d love to hear it as the end credits roll, absolutely.

As I've said previously, I honestly want Something In The Way to be for The Batman what Extreme Ways was for Bourne. Even the lyrics can be fitted to Batman's mythology and it generally sounds so similar to Giacchino's theme that not having it be a reoccurring element would be a mistake in my opinion. I'd love to hear an orchestrated cover of it or something for the credits

I do not want pedo Mad Hatter and that won’t happen

Hatter can be a child killer, but him being a pedo can be suggestive like what was done with Freddy Krueger. Never speak of it out loud, but allude to there being “sick” evidence in his murder cases.

Ehh, the Nirvana track works a charm here, not sure I'd want it to become some emblematic go-to melody/theme for the Reeves/Pattinson Batman overall.

Have a different song for each movie, preferably different artists each time, work it into the score in a similar fashion. Giacchino's more than capable of it.

Yeah, it was a great "way in" to this interpretation, but I hope it doesn't overstay its welcome either.
