The Batman Likes and Dislikes.

I thought the scene in Arkham was pretty bad, like Dano was trying but not quite pulling it off.

Penguin definitely the stand out.

I really wanted to like the Riddler and Dano has some moments. However, again I thought the more terrifying scenes were the ones where he wasn't present. I've heard that this movie had some Se7en influences but they should have taken a cue from the John Doe character. I know it's a comic book movie, but must every villain performance be over the top? I'm praying I don't get a lecture on how I don't undertand the character. John Doe was as equally menacing in his reveal largely in part because Spacey kept the cerebral character grounded. Yes, I know, different genres, but again must every actor playing a big time villain do the usual grandiose interpretations? Sometimes less is more

Penguin was the MVP of the villains I thought. Every moment with him was gold.

Couldn't agree more. There's a lot of little things I missed in the theatres that I appreciate more on repeated viewings. The limp in his walk, the penguinesque walk while handcuffed, the scene with Gordon/Batman and I love the way he rotates his neck (like a bird) while spinnnig his gun in the air while approaching Selana who is behind a car. I keep hearing this persistant but ludicrous online complaint that they should have just hired someone that 'looked' like the Penguin rather than hire Colin. Thankfully such narrow minded opinions did not prevail in casting choices.
