On a side note, are there any good quality manips out there of this guy as a more comic accurate GG? Would love to see that.

Sorry, could not find anything. But i found this:

Wish Raimi would have used that instead.

Hi folks. Man, those Willem Defoe shots really are world class. I will try to do a Green Goblin Willem Defoe manip on a different thread later today, but the prosthetic makeup one that Bluerayer posted above is hard to top. Can you imagine if they had actually used that? Wow!

I hope you all don't mind if I repost some of the images that were deleted as a result of my unfortunate lapse in civility yesterday.

Since my Will Smith and Charlotte Rampling pictures survived, I assume that it's still okay to post humorous imaginings of outside-the-box candidates for playing the Joker, so long as I don't follow them up with any rancor. I will certainly avoid any bait for that kind of behavior in the future, and I'm sorry again for violating the spirit of the forum rules.

While I don't think Kirk Cameron could or should ever be considered as a candidate for playing Joker, I can't help but see so much Joker in this guy. His smile, even since he was a kid, bares an uncanny resemblance to the Nicholson Joker-grin. There are so many pictures of him online with him spotting a goofy grin, sporting 3-piece suits or other Joker-appropriate attire, and gleaming with those wonderfully zealous eyes, that I cannot help but think "Joker!"

Again... this is not a serious suggestion, nor is it an attempt to troll the thread, just a humorous exercise to sharpen my nascent 'shopping skills and celebrate the absurdity that is inherant to the Joker's character. Personally, I look at these images and I see a pretty darn good Joker. You may just see the renderings of an odd, gnomish mad man (myself). But I hope that some of you at least get a kick out of seeing the Joker-side of a childhood icon who has gone on to be known for other reasons.

In any case, at least these are pictures of what this thread is supposed to be about: celebrities who have not played Mr. J, but who have a little bit of the Clown Prince of Crime in them, when looked at in the right way by the right set of eyes. Not that Green Goblin isn't cool!!!!

Back to some serious suggestions...

Michael Sheen has an incredibly impressive range. From the cold, subtle seriousness of Dr. Masters on Masters of Sex, to his flamboyant Bowie-esque turn in Tron: Legacy, to his genre experience with the Underworld franchise, Michael Sheen is an artist on the rise and an incredibly potent contender for the role of Joker.

I gotta say while I'm not the biggest Pegg fan, I actually really dig the idea of him for this role. I could easily see him across from Affleck's Batman, and giving us a unique and different yet great take. I'm sure there are plenty of actors that could do very well as I've seen suggested here, but I think he's my favorite I've heard so far.

Call me crazy, but mix Jordan Belfort with his Calvin Candie and you've got yourself a pretty amazing Joker...

Eddie Dean (long days and pleasant nights!),

You're not crazy at all. Leo would absolutely *CRUSH* as Joker. I think he had so much hype as a potential for The Riddler, and it's a role I'd rather see him in, but I think he'd be great. I just worry that we've done the "young guy" or at least "young seeming guy" thing with Heath, which is why my preference would be someone older. Sort of in between the Jack Nicholson and Heath range, age wise.

I think the best way to go characterization-wise is a Puck-ish Joker... something in between Heath's chaos demon Joker and Jack's (in his & his character's own words) pop "artist" Joker, and in more of a supporting role as a very colorful addition to a larger rogue's gallery. My dream for a standalone Bats movie would have many villains, as some of the best comic arcs do, where the emphasis is more on Batman himself than any of the previous movies, and where each villain serves to show different sides of Batman, and not to showboat.

I still think that Simon Pegg is the best bet for that. Like Bluerayer said, I can imagine he'd be a great foil opposite Ben's Batman. Heath and Bale were sort of evenly matched, Pegg would be more of a comic underdog. I can see him being the Joker that started out as the goofy but evil Red Hood, wheras I see Heath as a truly anonymous outsider character and Jack Nicholson's as a previously known criminal with an established identity. Pegg's Joker would be incredibly evil and would still chew scenery, but I think he'd be light enough to just bring out a side of Batman, not dominate him. We've yet to see a Joker that doesn't steal the limelight. In the best of the comic book arcs, I've always found Joker captivating (I obviously love him), but I always find Batman even more compelling for how he deals with him. In the movies, I find the Joker *amazing*, but Batman always lackluster in comparison. Pegg could share the spotlight while still getting the job done.

I think that Michael Sheen would be a very close second to that interpretation.

Since NinjaTurtleFan seemed to agree with that, I did another Sheen manipulation.

I think I like the white teeth better... but the yellow teeth has sort of become tradition I guess, right?

I took this image you posted and made a little Leo Joker out of it.... along with a half-assed beret wearing Jonah Hill as Penguin.

Okay, last pics and then I will try to cool my jets on this thread and give it some air (unless anyone else has any suggestions and wouldn't mind my giving them a shot)...

Kirk Cameron looking crazier than ever. I can't believe he just came so ready-made for the Joker process.

Next, a Pope Joker! (there were others I made/posted last night, but let's not rehash that story...)

And finally, to break the cardinal rule of posting on the internet... a picture of yours truly plus girlfriend as Harley. My cousin just sent this to me after seeing all my Joker posts.

As you can see, I am a chubby gnome, which is why I had the strong reaction to being called a troll. Gnomes and Trolls are enemies. I hope you all don't mind my posting all these pics... I :hrt: this forum and am trying my best to contribute stuff made by my own hands. My Joker pics are crude, amateur things at best, but working on them is the closest thing I've found in my life to meditation. I'm very grateful to SHH for being an inspiration to try my hand at image making. You all are an amazing community.

Peace!

I hate the way that he gets suggested for everything, and it pains me to be a part of that. But, one you begin to seriously think about it, it seems obvious...Benedict Cumberbatch.

Willem Dafoe is a great choice also he is a great actor, but to put my two cents in I still don't think we've seen the joker straight from the pages of a comic all the other interpretations have been great in their own way but or me I want to see the joker from the killing joke, that's the joker as I always imagine him and I think is the scariest, I've said it before on here but for my money I think Richard E Grant could really pull it of

Perhaps, but Withnail and I was 27 years ago.

True Withnail and I was a long time ago, but he's still a good actor and I think he is one of those actors that just never got the recognition he deserves

here's a more recent picture, I just think the guy can act and physically looks like the joker

Yeah his face really resembles Joker

Hey BattleAngel, how about a manip of Clayface? post it in the "Next Batman Villain?"thread. :yay:

Meanwhile, here is Benedict Cumberbatch as The Joker:

I'm sure Cumberbatch could act the hell out of being Joker and he is quite the impressionist not to mention he can contort his face into many animated expressions (see all the faces he made as Smaug with motion-capturing) but my only worry is the voice.

In my head, I don't picture Joker with a low voice.
