The Reboot Joker

If the rumors are true and Joker shows up in Suicide Squad I'm going to have a nice long meanspirited laugh at the "retire a character that has been around for 75 years because an actor died" cult. Oh I'm going to enjoy seeing those obnoxious loons squirm. I could not hate people who think that enough.
Who thinks that? That's mental.

I wonder if we'll get a post-credits Suicide Squad teaser in BvS. Supposedly Nolan was adamantly against it in MOS, but he's not involved anymore. Snyder might have also been against it though, I'm not sure.

Anyway, if we DO get one, I wonder if it could be a quick scene involving the Joker. Maybe a scene with Luthor or Waller visiting him at Arkham and asking him where they can find Harley.
It depends. If this story leads into Suicide Squad, and some of those members of the squad become Justice League villains, then i can see a Joker reference at the end of B v S.

If Lex Luthor is the only connection to Suicide Squad, with that film as its own thing with nothing to do with Justice League? Then they won't reference Joker at all. They'll be referencing Brainiac or something.

If Brainiac is the antagonist for the League, it would be pointless to have a scene to hype up a movie that has nothing to do with the League. It's called Dawn Of Justice for a reason. They won't tell us what their plans are for Justice League before Dawn opens in theaters. We'll only know the 6 members. We'll be in the dark for everything else. So i'll know right away, if i see a strong reference to Joker or Lex mentioning creating a Squad of prisoners at the end of Bats/Supes, i'll know for sure that this is all connected. That we'll be seeing a Legion of Doom in Justice League.

Aww how mean :(
I know I'm being childish and mean when it comes to this subject. And I know it's only a minority of idiots on the interwebs who believe such a ridiculous thing but it annoys me all the same.

Honestly I don't want to see Joker at all in BvS. That film is already juggling a lot of balls, it doesn't need anymore characters, especially one that is as ridiculously popular as the Joker is.

I think fanboys have a tendency to want to believe that whatever their generation is witnessing is the final word on things of its type. That is why the nonsense about The Joker "ending" with Heath Ledger came about.

So basically in this thread, until an announcement is made, people are going to post pictures of every actor that has ever smiled widely and go "I can see this guy as the Joker".

Maybe it's just me, but the Joker is a character that will never become over-satured in my eyes. Most Batman/Joker stories -- even when he just makes an appearance -- are infinitely more exciting to me then when Batman faces other foes.

With that said, I'm glad the Joker won't be a part of BvS, nor do I think he needs to be present in every individual Batman movie. Batman has the strongest rogues gallery of any superhero, so there's plenty of other characters and stories to draw from. Still, if DC is creating a unified film universe with Batman at the forefront, the Joker MUST be included in some capacity. Otherwise, the universe wouldn't feel complete. He is the Darth Vader / Hannibal Lecter / Voldemort of the DCU. I'd say he is just about as iconic as Batman and Superman themselves.

As for the rumor of Jared Leto taking on the role, I can't say I feel anything other than indifferent to the idea. I was honestly shocked and pissed when Heath Ledger was initially cast. I just could not see it and couldn't believe that who they chose to be the Joker, but we all know how that turned out. With Leto, I can see it, but the choice still doesn't excite me. Whoever does get cast as the Joker in this universe, I don't think I'll consider myself thrilled or content until we see more of the "big picture" or learn more about his look/characterization.

Still, until this rumor/story is either confirmed or squashed, I won't give it much though. But I'm excited to scroll past dozens of terrible Leto/Joker manips over the next few weeks!

Which is why Sean Penn should play the Joker.

The casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker was brilliant because no one had ever seen him play a villain before.

Sean Penn would be just as good because no one has ever seen him smile before.

But, crucially, can you find an image of Penn smiling widely? Because only then are you allowed to suggest him to play the Joker. Sorry, SHH rules :o

Penn as Joker confirmed.

Sean Penn ain't ever going to do a comicbook movie IMHO and if he does he ain't signing a multiple picture deal.

I knew you'd say this :funny:
Which is the same reasoning I felt it was worth bumping. For all we know Joker could (even if not likely) be rebooted elsewhere such as a small cameo in BvS. The SS bit of info is still just an unconfirmed rumor sir :o

This image got me thinking... Just maybe...
Bradley_Cooper-Esquire.jpg
He is a popular fan choice actually elsewhere on the net, not sure if he has been brought up for Joker on the hype. I think it could work as long as he doesn't have to force some of his acting to the point it looks campy.

I never realized till now, there was a slight resemblance from younger Sean Penn to Bradley Cooper. :o

I hope they keep the Glasgow smile idea. Would add creepiness to Leto's pretty-ish features.

I've always wondered. Just what is the deal with Joker's face?

Jack's was from a botched plastic surgery operation.
Heath's was the glasgow smile.

Does comic Joker just have a default sickly smile like Tim Curry? :o

This a million times this. Great post. I totally agree. I hate this stupid comments with a passion

No, comics Joker just smiled a lot. His deformity was damage to his pigmentation, not to his cheek muscles.

I'd truly and emphatically like to see them ditch the "permasmile" this time around.

If The Joker is angry, I want to see that he is really angry.

Can we please get the dapper white skinned green haired red lips classic joker before we get the New 52 Texas chainsaw massacre Leatherface lite version.
