Every time I look at it I fall in love with it even more. I swear to god if they make a hot toys figure of this batman (come on they will ;)) I am so buying it. And I don't own any hot toys.

I don't own any hot toys either, but they'll definitely be making one of these. I just need to start saving now lol, would love to have it alongside the man of steel one.

I think we all expected the suit to look something like this, given Zack Snyder and his fanboy tastes. It's got Frank Miller and Jim Lee elements to it, and stuff like that. The important thing is, it looks like Batman. Regardless of your tastes, at least it still looks like Batman and isn't a radical re-interpretation of the character.

I'm hoping this movie is good. I know the costumes are great, but I hope the script and story are leagues ahead of what Man of Steel was and that Affleck's writer can give these characters the great movie that they deserve.

It's just so...sleek or something! Just pure batish goodness. :hrt:

The image is even a bit melancholy, like he's about to turn to stone himself, but it still fills me with glee somehow.

The subtle touches like the nose wrinkle and the straight-outta-the-comics mouth opening really make this design fantastic.

I knew it could be done.

It was only a matter of time, vision, and courage. And though it has been a long haul, in the end it came sooner than I would have thought. But here it is. And it is vindication.

They said a "film" batsuit could only ever be a black rubber suit. They said Black&Gray was a dead end and that all the money in the world couldn't make that look work. They said spandex. They said camp. They said you could not rip Batman from the comic page and translate it to the screen. They called us haters because we did not blindly accept what was given us. They said we were trolls because we dared to believe. They said it could not be done. It is done. And it is magnificent. And it trumps all that came before it.

It is Batman as he should look. A modern take on the original that embraces the traditional look rather than shy from it. A take that understands how much Kane and Finger got right 75 years ago. A look that has not diminished with the passage of time but that has endured and is deserving of it's place in the modern canon.

Traditional is no longer an old fashioned idea to be laughed off as the musing of delusional fanboys. Today tradition is the very definition of iconic.

I might change a thing here and there... I would have preferred a straight up DKR logo and a different belt design, but it was never about "my" ideal as much as it was a defense of the iconic look in all it's aspects not just the pointy ears or the scalloped cape and this checks off so many of the boxes that even I would have to characterize any complaint as nitpicking.

Having said that, not all questions are answered and I suppose there is the possibility it could all go bust, but if this:

... is what it looks like when the color is turned on then, well... the fight has been won.

Gray is the new black.

My work here is done.

Excellent summary. This batsuit really is a beaut.

Hoped.. Expected is a very strong word till I see it.
We had a hunch that the suits would be cool with Snyder's involvement , but I think my hopes went way up after Kevin Smith opened his mouth..
Prior to that? Even with Snyder.. And his love for Miller?
Still had doubt..

I can knit pick if I chose to, but it would be very minimal.. Add a 1/4 inch to the ears..
But after waiting for a comic book version of batman since they said it was coming in '80? I am just going to sit back and smile..
I liked some of the live action Bat-suits from the past, but they never looked like something from the pages to me..

For now? We celebrate.. In the future... I will send my personal Ninja's to find Snyder.. And sort him out if this film does not deliver.

But for now? He is safe...
And I am happy... Cheers...

In a matter of a day, the suit has managed to grow onto me. All thanks to The Guard's compelling post on the details of the suit and the juxtaposition to Superman's suit.

In case someone didn't know...

DC vs Marvel and flat out trolling isn't going to be tolerated folks.

Isn't it great to know that this suit actually exists?

To be fair, the main reason people 'said it couldn't be done' was because they pointed to things like the Dead End suit as being an example of how it should be done. I guarantee if anyone on either side of the fence had been shown this (which to be clear appears to be a mix of fabric over armor), they'd have gone ape**** and agree wholeheartedly. I always knew a brilliantly compromise could be reached, but I didn't know exactly how until this week! :yay:

Wilkinson should go down in nerdom lore as a genius.

Except that in many respects, the elements of the traditional Batman costume are quite tactically relevant and functional, if not realistically functional in the real world. Though there are plenty of legitimate explanations for why he doesn't wear a full facemask. Plenty of them.

Go on then. How is Batman's uncovered mouth more logistical than Terry Mcginnis's covered mouth?

The point is that none of Batman's costume is "real world tactically functional". It's just not. This is why we allow for artistic license and flourishes like a long billowing cape, emblem and non-black belt.

"The color yellow" or "the color gold" is not a tactical advantage in any real respect. It doesn't really make sense that he'd want it to be easily seen, or that he himself would need to be able to see it all that well, he'd have learned the belt forward and backward before using it in the field.

No, it really doesn't...but then again, neither does an emblem, etc...we're talking about a superhero who fights supervillains, not a member of the swat team or a navy seal. There are expected to be fantastical flourishes. He's a fantasy character.
And it doesn't really even look right from a fashion standpoint, especially without a yellow oval emblem to balance it out, as there's usually no other yellow on the suit.

In your opinion. It must have survived in the comics and other media for so long because it looks horrible.:whatever:
Honestly, some of my thoughts on the yellow belt comes down to me just wanting the thing not to look like an eyesore, and for the suit's components to match. I feel ike a man who goes to the trouble of desigining a particular image and then essentially color-coordinating his costume would care enough to do so properly and not just forget to color coordinate part of his outfit just...because.

So...aesthetics. And you know what, that's totally fair. It's much more honest than bending over backward trying to somehow prove that the most unrealistic thing about Batman is his non-black utility belt.

Sorry but anyone who used the Dead End suit as an excuse as to why a fabric suit couldn't work is an idiot. At this point in comic book movie history people should know that a cheap made at home costume can't compete with expensive professionally made movie costumes.

I don't see the armor you speak of...is it molded to look like muscle?

Yes, yes indeed!

exactly because it's not like anyone else made comics faithful suits

Now that (and Cassandra Cain's Batgirl cowl) a challenge for another day (and project)
