I'm tempted to see the Dark Knight suit beside this thing...but I never want to see the Dark Knight suit again at the moment. The complexity and yet relative simplicity of this design just kicks the living crap out of the overdesigned Dark Knight Batsuit.

The Utility Belt is FINALLY the black pouch belt I've long wanted to see adopted. I hate the fact that he wears a gold/yellow belt just BECAUSE in the comics. It may be tradition, but it makes no sense from a tactical perspective. Finally someone with a brain designs the thing, and it looks fantastic, and creates a worthy visual stand in for the trunks.

Nothing on the Batman suit makes "sense" from a "tactical perspective", be it exposed mouth/chin, long billowing cape- or in this case, moulded musculature. These are form over function conceits that are iconic to the character. Do they make "tactical sense". No. Sometimes it seems that in order to boost one franchise up, the "fans" need to trash another.

I love this new batsuit. Best batsuit of them all. Blows all previous versions out of the water. Just this one image has me more excited since I saw Batman '89 when I was a kid. Snyder truly knocked this one out of the park.

Hopefully this erases the memory of Nolan's weak Batman with Christian Bale phoning it in, in his eyesore Robocop/Batman suit and 20 pack a day smoker's voice.

It looks like the utility belt is no longer yellow but black.

Nothing on the Batman suit makes "sense" from a "tactical perspective", be it exposed mouth/chin, long billowing cape- or in this case, moulded musculature. These are form over function conceits that are iconic to the character. Do they make "tactical sense". No. Sometimes it seems that in order to boost one franchise up, the "fans" need to trash another.

I'm speaking in a visual sense. He might as well provide a target just above his crotch if he's going to wear a yellow belt over a dark outfit.

Not trashing a franchise...I'm saying the fact that he wears a yellow/gold belt has never really made much sense to me visually, and it's something I never really liked on film especially. Especially with darker versions of the character.

I really don't think he phoned it in as much as hammed it up, with Rises having him take the role of an unenthusiastic and wearied Batman too seriously.

I think Rises was a good (but tough) reminder of Nolan's limitations on the genre, and that his Batman just wouldn't work for the Justice League.

But a lot of that is in the writing, costume design, audio in post, and yes, directing.

Perhaps, but I'd think the white skin of the lower half of his face contrasted against a black cowl would provide an even better target.

But to each their own, I can see how a gold-ish/bronze worked to break up the Nolan design a bit, and how an all black one unifies the monochromatic Snyder one.

This is just a much more intimidating and "masculine" approach, much like Snyder's Superman.

Not everything can be fixed without straying too far from expectation. A batman without a cape for example. No mouth hole is stretch(for a photo reveal anyways). The belt doesn't have to be yellow for any reason, what's more, it's been black in several interpretations.

As for the molded muscle. The point is that it's his physique. A criminal see's a giant roided demon in baring them down. Seems like a good strategy.
