Kevin Smith: See? @ZackSnyder gave us the Batman suit we always wanted: https://***********/ZackSnyder/status/466249462348644352 … BIG, FAT, BLACK BAT all across his face, neck and chest!

KS confirmed the bat on his chest is black

Good to know. Still think it's ugly as feck but I am starting to warm up to the ear length.

Urgh. I'm reminded of back in 2005 when suddenly everybody decided they hated Keaton, and then in '08 when suddenly everybody hated Nicholson.

I'll be happy when such discussion moves out of the batsuit thread.

Nothing?
Not everything can be fixed without straying too far from expectation. A batman without a cape for example. No mouth hole is stretch(for a photo reveal anyways). The belt doesn't have to be yellow for any reason, what's more, it's been black in several interpretations.

As for the molded muscle. The point is that it's his physique. A criminal see's a giant roided demon in baring them down. Seems like a good strategy.

If the criminal already sees a "roided demon baring down on them", is a slightly bronze/brown-ish belt going to make a difference?

Please see one of my last posts concerning the merits of each option.

hey come on guys, lets not pooh pooh on Bale's Batsuit. ive been around long enough to know that 99% of y'all were ****ing your pants when the suits came out lol!

No, you need to see it. To get the full effect:

i was just wondering Boom, is this to scale?

and given that we have a somewhat good view of the COWL, does that look like they patterned the cowl to be the same one piece thing like Keaton's? the big reason why Bale's cowl looks like that is because of the general feedback that he cant turn his head.

 x infinity. It happens every time a shiny new toy is released. All of a sudden the old one garbage. The groupthink in here is killing me.

Everybody you say? Seems like a generalization. Kinda like saying everyone loves this new DCU stuff.:o

Cause everyone loved them to begin with(I find that hard to believe with the sheer number of people that read the comics).

You are more than welcome to look through my post history and see that I have been critical of the Nolan suits for years (moreso the TDK one).

Or you can save yourself the time and take my word for it.

This. Even the cape has a tactical purpose for Batman.

My rationale for the mouthhole was always that Batman tries to strike a balance--he has to deal with cops and civilians, too. That presents a certain set of challenges for a guy looking to strike fear in criminals, which the costume accounts for. Give a terrified victim a face too look at and you're probably going to have an easier time dealing with that person. Similarly, if a cop sees a toolbelt on you, they know you're a professional, not a monster.

I just love how the new suit is attempting to sell the idea that this Batman is some sort of creature.

I said roided demon in response to the molded muscle. You asked what's the purpose/advantage in having them over not.

never said two words about how a belt adds or subtracts to that feature. I said the belt being yellow adds nothing to nothing. Unless of course you have a reason for it?

Exactly.

Also it'd be easier to breathe, talk, smell (something Batman uses in his detective work), and you wouldn't have to worry so much about heatstroke.

Just for clarity, I was speaking with regards to performances. The TDK suit, well, I've always thought that was an eyesore.

Personally I've always hated the TDK/R suit.

I still love the Begins and Keaton suits though.

A notion paralleled by the fact that the actors wearing the cowls complain they can't hear anything in them. Really, the cowl is a fictional indulgence; if you apply strict logic, Batman should be wearing a tactical helmet and goggles.

Sorry, if you want to play the "Let's take this statement absolutely literally" game, I'm out. Play with yourself.

Games? You said what you said.
Perhaps if you phrased it differently...

My point is pretty simple. Not everyone was hip to keaton, not everybody was hip to nolan and perhaps now you are hearing form them. Seems plausible. I know cause I'm very much one of these people and I'm not one to sit idly by and be call something similar to a bandwagon new shiny thing lover.

See Kevin Smith's reaction to see this new suit in relation to the old suits to see an example of what I'm talking about.

I, too, hated the TDK/R suit. It was a response to some of the comments I've seen about the performances in the past films, not the costuming.

It was probably my mistake to say it in the first place; it'll just stir the pot. Consider it retracted.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh hard.

Not necessarily. The difference between the movie world and the comics world is that Movie Batman's cowl is rigid and in a shape, whereas comics Batman's cowl is usually fabric-based, fluid, and loose in movement (closer to say...Spider-Man's Mask). These differences might be huge if someone actually decided to make the cowl fabric-based.

Bale was a good Batman, and a great Wayne, in an uneven but generally strong trilogy. The Begins suit was good, the TDK suit was mediocre, and the TDKR suit was jarring..taking the flaws of TDK and adding on to them (more jagged puzzle pieces?).

Ben can be a great Batman, though I think his Wayne will always be thought of as an extension of himself, so he might as well go all Robert Downey Jr on that role :D
