Just opened up "For Tomorrow" (something tells me a decent portion of this will be slightly based on that, at least visually seeing as there's a healthy dose of Batman and Wonder Woman in that Superman story) and saw a ton of panels where it's so obvious that Snyder's Batman is mainly based off of Jim Lee's. I know that should go without saying at this point but I mean look (these are from various other comic books not just For Tomorrow):

I absolutely love how they actually tried getting the textures and wrinkles that Jim Lee was going for. This suit is truly something else.

The cowl looks wayyyyy more like Jim Lee's than TDKR's.

Looks like Gotham to me.

Natalie Dormer for Catwoman.

Looks more like a smaller city like Bludhaven to me personally.

Gotham's skyline should dwarf New York's.

I'm sure Snyder is going to add in a lot of CG to the city like he did with Metropolis. I think it'll be fine.

My first impression of the suit is...

That's Batman. THAT. IS. THE. GOD. DAMN. BATMAN.

I loved the Nolan suit, by the way. Begins more so than TDK/R, but this suit is really something special. That's one of the benefits of having Snyder, a true lover of the comics, in charge of this film, he knows how to point his design team in the right direction.

It's funny reading that book because it's a reversal of roles of sort for Batman and Superman. Superman acts like the brash and arrogant one, rather than the other way around. Supes has some quite harsh dialogue towards Batman if I remember.

But it's understandable in the context because Lois Lane has disappeared.

The "textures and wrinkles" you mentioned remind me a lot more of David Finch's Batman Incorporated design.

For me it doesn't because the lines/wrinkles are almost identical to those of Jim Lee. The wrinkles are more uniform in Finch's but the ones in Snyder's it's far more random and "pencil" like akin to that of Jim Lee's.

That's how I see it.

Now lets just hope everyone that rejoiced with us over a comic accurate Batman costume, will be willing to do the same for Wonder Woman. But I won't hold my breath.:D

Jimmies will be rustled with Wonder Woman. Guaranteed.

If she's Jim Lee comic accurate then prepare yourselves for the Wambulance.

You mean the American flag/bathing suit complaints? Screw 'em. That's what I want (I could handle pants or a battle skirt, though).

The only thing that will **** me is having the first comic book accurate Batsuit and possibly Wondersuit... next to the first non-comic book accurate Supersuit (in spite of how much I love the MoS suit).

Yeah I don't think so.

I would certainly. But I know a few (IMO Great posters, nothing against them) who will not like it if it's very traditional.

I'm one of those. If batman gets this wonderful thing and WW gets leather panties, I call bull****.

Oh please can we make this happen. The fat symbol and the tiny ears are my only real issues with this suit, and that symbol makes it look ten times better.

Oh please can we make this happen? The large symbol and short ears aren't changing so dunno what you think is gonna happen. No manips are gonna change what the costume already officially is. My god some of you

I'm thinking black.
This is through and through a comic Batsuit, that manages to draw from every era of Batman since TDKR. It's most noticeable recent inspirations are without a doubt New 52 and Earth One. The belt is probably black by way of Earth One, which might just work better overall. Without the trunks I do think the yellow/gold belt looks somewhat awkward.

That is one thing that I truly love about this new suit.. That all of the little details, choices in design, both artistic and technical.. we can find almost exact references from the source material and varios books.
That was one thing that always bugged me about the TDK and TDKR suit. I was not a fan of the concept.. I felt that it was a bad choice in design, and that the people involved have been trying to explain it ever since I first saw it.
It was just never Batman to me.. It was a failure..
I am still a fan of the suits from "'89", "BR", and "BB"..
It just feels good to see something derived from the pages themselves...

and given that we have a somewhat good view of the COWL, does that look like they patterned the cowl to be the same one piece thing like Keaton's? the big reason why Bale's cowl looks like that is because of the general feedback that he cant turn his head.

Yes.. This new cowl on Ben seems to be a one piece cowl and neck. Every person to ever wear one of these things has always said the same thing.. turning the head has ALWAYS been an issue. Never technically solved.. Bale complained so much, that the design and materials were altered in such a way to avoid the issue. But the technical aspect of it was still yet to be solved. Which brings us to this new cowl. Many mention the "Nightowl" cowl as an example.. But in truth? The neck on that design was very thin, which would make turning the head much easier. The hard thing about that design? Getting the thin neck over the actors head when dressing him.. To which, the larger mouth opening area did help.. The designs of the Batman cowl usually has much more girth around the neck area as compared to, let's say "Nightowl".. So getting the big thing over the head is still an issue. The thickness of the neck area and the firmness of the material is what fights against the mobility. Let's hope that they have sorted something out.. Finally... It would be pretty cool..

I'm digging the shorter ears and larger bat-symbol. The TDKReturns influence is more exciting to me right now.

However, I could go for a more traditional New 52 style costume (slightly longer ears and smaller bat-symbol) in the JL movie.
