The BATSUIT Thread

I feel like CGI white lenses over the eye holes on the cowl itself would make the most sense, rather than the way Deadpool did it

That I can go for...it would make Batman look more badass

With evidence that Matt Reeves was watching the actors eyes during the screen testing, I feel like the lenses are becoming less and less likely.

I still have hope there's a chance it can be done for a scene like Batman Forever and Dark Knight but just better and not sonar tech

I'm not a big fan of the cape, honestly. Reminds me too much of the TDK suit, gimme something like in the Arkham games which covers the shoulders.

If they go with an Arkham video game type suit in terms of the look of it then I would love that

Or if they go with a look similar to the Joel Silver/Tim Burton franchise as far as the overall look of the Batsuit then I wouldn't be opposed to that either

That would have been an awesome suit back in 1989 (can definitely see the Burton cues in the cowl, symbol and belt), but for today? I don't know, it feels outdated, imo. How is he supposed to turn his head in that?

Drop the underpants, shorter ears and put the arkham games bat symbol.

I'm kinda iffy on going for being 100% accurate to that, as you'd likely get something akin to the batsuit Alex Ross draws. While yes, the suit definitely needs to be less armor based, I feel like the suit needs to have some type of pattern to at least suggest it's a bleeding edge tech like material. A billionaire deciding to make a suit for vigilantism out of exclusively spandex just doesn't make sense. Less armor based, definitely. But the BvS suit got it completely right in my opinion with the pattern and the fairly obvious implication that the suit itself still has protective properties.

Since it's been on my mind for a while and I actually have time tonight to post it, here's a more detailed run-down of what I'd do if I were in charge of this movie/trilogy (be warned, this is a pic-heavy post)

To start, as I mentioned in my "must haves" for the suit, it has to be a cloth-looking suit. In particular, I've always felt that while the suit for Captain America in the 2012 Avengers film was his weakest on-screen look, it would make a much better base for a Batsuit than for Cap.

Honestly, I really love the look of it. This next picture, while not a perfect representation, gives an idea of what a base suit like this would look like for Batman. It's kind of a cross between Cap and Batman's Arkham Knight suit (only cloth-based and not all armored up):

For gauntlets and gloves, the Avengers Cap ones shown above, if re-colored and given fins (think BvS-style fins only not brass-colored), work great for Batman, imo. For boots, I would probably just go with something akin to the BvS or TDK boots. Something simple.

For a utility belt, I was thinking something like a cross between BvS and the Arkham games. Not too bulky to detract from the sleekness of this new Batman, but also not too minimalist to harm the suspension of disbelief. I think this represents that kind of style well:

And now onto the cowl. Something I really like about the Telltale Bat cowl is that while it's rigid like in the films (housing his communications equipment and also presumably acts as a ballistic helmet of sorts) it is separate from the neck, shown here:

This allows for a wider range of motion and *GASP* he can actually turn his head! And it doesn't have a trade-off when it comes to how it looks on-screen. Here is a photo showing a little bit how I'd like the cowl and neck guard to be handled:

The cowl is very close to what I envision. The neck guard has a two-fold use: it gives Batman protection against neck/throat strikes (within the world of the film) as well as gives the wearer the added maneuverability mentioned above (practical for the actor/stuntmen). I've mentioned before that I want a cape that can mimic some of the great scenes from the comics and animated series (hanging off the shoulders in an almost silhouette style) while still providing a practical use for the character (gliding, etc). The use of the two-piece cowl does not hinder that, as shown below:

As far as white lenses vs real eyes, I suggest a third option: CGI. With the advent of Deadpool and the MCU Spider-Man movies, we've seen that comic-style white lenses can look great on film. Below you can see a photo of what Ryan Reynolds looks like before CGI gives him the comic-style look:

Something along these lines is what I suggest for this new Batman trilogy. It allows the actor to use his eyes to convey emotion while also giving him the menacing presence and comic-book accuracy fans have been clamoring for for years. The final product, I assume, would look something akin to this:

Finally, for the emblem on the chest. Really it's up to personal preference and I can see them going either way. I do think that, with the talk of Batman Earth One as an influence on the suit, they may go with the oval look, which would be something like this, imo:

And so there you have it, a detailed look at what I think the suit should look like this time around. All of it is doable with today's technology.

This is a great post but I'm incredibly confused by your decision to use the 2012 suit when the Winter Soldier one not only looks cooler but it was appareantly more comfortable and better for stunts:images (82).jpeg

Just look at that beauty. It's begging to be turned into a batsuit. Those materials are perfect.
