The BATSUIT Thread

With the exception of TDK/TDKR and the 66 movie, every Batsuit we've gotten in live action has been a huge bulky rubber suit, I'd like them to take some notes from the kinds of suits we've gotten in the Spider-Man films.
BvS wasn’t ... Not all of them were huge and bulky. To be honest the Batman Begins one, besides areas of heavy padding meant to convey armor, was actually pretty flexible. Technically that Begins suit is lighter than the following more flexible one with more neck mobility. BvS was meant to look like a Kevlar material suit, but they put a comical amount of sculpted padding and musculature beneath it. Truly teh puffy.

The Begins suit had to have a cooling system installed in it because of being a thick rubber suit, and still was pretty restrictive, and that monstrously large muscle suit on the BvS costume was basically a rubber suit all on its own, they've improved the rubber suits each time, but I'd prefer they step away from it altogether.

I'm not trying to question your taste or anything but wouldn't short ears look more like horns? Daredevil, Hellboy (sometimes has long anyway) lizards, goats, etc. All have short horns

Not going to count Hell Boy because he keeps them short on purpose I believe, he's not trying to look like a monster.

And Daredevil, well with him it works, I guess the placement of his horns on his forehead just work while still being short. I don't know short horns work for Daredevil while short ears don't for Batman, to me.

What’s wrong with the cooling system?

Part of that was they were filming Batman scenes in July, and August in Chicago when there is tons of humidity in combination with the rubber suit.

I’m just saying to be honest it was actually quite flexible. It was extremely thin rubber/neoprene at the joints.

Same thing with the original Batman 89 suit. The armor sculpt is what was heavy. Also the Cowl and the Cape.

But to be honest the Nolan suits had the lightest most flexible cape.

I don’t want some pajama looking material either. That’s not convincing at all or believable. Even with heightened reality or suspension of disbelief. No matter how extremely skilled you are, Bruce Wayne would be a idiot not to have some type of armor or protection.

When people suggest a cloth suit, they are NOT suggesting pajamas, and they are not suggesting spandex either, modern armor is moving towards lighter weight fabrics and gels/liquids, and away from thick, bulky materials anyways.

I can't get past the metal cod piece. Just can't do it. :funny:
To be fair, I think that was an unfortunate addition by Rocksteady for the in-game models. I don't recall it being in the comics and Finch's covers (at least not consistently):

If I am mistaken, it is only one aspect of the design of the suit and can easily be removed as shown above. The rest of the design is wonderful.

Much better.

The belt looks like a bright yellow flotation device. But besides that it looks good

I don’t like splashes of bright yellow. It feels impractical for blending into the darkness.

This is fantastic.

Costume designer Jacqueline Durran is perhaps best known for her work on the excellent 1917 or 2019’s adaptation of Little Women. But it is her current project which has fans and journalists asking questions.

Durran is currently masterminding Robert Pattinson’s Batsuit for Director Matt Reeves The Batman and she briefly discussed his look in an interview with Fashionista.

“Because Batman is a man, it’s not fully in the [superhero] universe,” said Durran . “But it is a new adventure for me and it’s very interesting because it’s something I’ve not done before. The absolute thing about it, yet again, [is] the director. I’m trying to make the film that director Matt Reeves wants to make. The other things — the previous films, the comics and everything else — are relevant to a degree that they’re relevant to a Matt Reeves movie. So, again, that’s how important the director is, because you’re concentrating on their vision.”

Her comments have the DC Cinematic Reddit all bent out of shape.

What are they saying?

Superhero to me means a super-powered hero. So I’ve never seen him as such. Maybe my definition of it is wrong, oh well. He’s a man. A detective. A vigilante who works outside of the law. Never sounded like a superhero to me like Wonder Woman, Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America.
