Y’know, it’s funny. When Jacqueline Durran was first announced as costume designer, and I looked at her filmography that was overwhelmingly period pieces, in the back of my mind I thought “Wouldn’t it be funny if this was Gotham by Gaslight?”
lol wouldn’t it be upsetting if their use of the Mandalorian technology means that we won’t see what the suit looks like until we actually get footage?Me at Reeves right now:

Agreed. Certainly not 'conventionally handsome'. Bruce Wayne usually looks like a movie star. Ironically, this movie star has a somewhat different look.Pattinson has the kind of face in which I could see why a lot of girls would find him to be the most handsome man alive, and others would think he's ugly.
And it looks very interesting on-screen.
Hmm, I hope not. I'm not a fan of that backward sloping look.![]()
Maybe the ears will look like this.
Thing is, comic accurate is one thing, I love it and appreciate it, but when I read comics, I do suspend belief and understand that what I see is not real world accurate, if that makes sense. So in theory, it's impossible for most costumes to look real and still be comic accurate - it's like batfleck, we all knew It was padding, we all knew it couldn't protect him from a bullet point blank, simple reason for me, as bruce, under his civilian clothes, suit, he wasn't built, his legs and thighs were small, just lanky.. I just didn't believe what the aesthetics were trying to tell me, however cool it looked - compared to say Bale, where I knew it was armour, compared to say Keaton where I knew it was rubber.. I just knew Batfleck was rubber, maybe it's just me, but I felt if batlfeck had more angles and lines, it would have worked more for me.It's different, but after the comic accurate Batfleck suit I'm down for Reeves shaking things up.
Have to see the overall shape of the cowl with the ears. And someone tell Pattinson to trim his sideburns.![]()
I appreciate and respect that, I feel they will try and link the two, however, the 90's were able to produce amazing tech and armour, it's not 1890 lolThis is 90's Batman for 80's Joker, hence the kinda old school type cowl. Here we go with crazy theories
Regarding the tease of the batsuit.
I liked the bat symbol with that metallic, Arkham vibe and how the cape looked. The soundtrack was pretty cool too. I wasn't a fan of the cowl though with that leathery, stitchy look... The shaping wasn't great either. And it was a shame we didn't see the ears because that really puts the look in perspective.
This design could be just an early look and things might develop into something more polished down the line.
My main problem with the suit - at least what we have seen now - is the cowl. It looks so different then the rest of the suit it doesnt fit at all.
Its like wearing a knights armor with a beanie. I dont get the design choice![]()
I agree with this, I said in earlier posts, I felt the mask and cape would be theatrical (but still serve a purpose which this mask, kinda doesn't really show, but happy to see more, obviously) and hide the protection underneath. As few others and I have mentioned before, I think it's Reeves' attempt to combine the two most important aspects of the suit; theatricality and practicality. The suit being armor is for practical reasons, obviously. Getting shot isn't fun. The cape and cowl is to make Batman appear other-worldly for intimidation. If Batman spends a lot of his time with the cape draped over his shoulders, with the armor not clearly visible, that'd do it.

Batman Earth-2.
I think theyr'e trying to go the Alex Ross route with the cowl, making it leather so it looks more like skin rather than armor and makes him look creepier.
I largely agree, but I think the cowl is almost certainly going to take some damage here for storytelling purposes as well. I’m thinking at some point, Bruce will take enough damage and get worn down enough we may see tears int he seems of the cowl, probably artfully done to make him look like his will power is pushing him through damage his body can’t take. Also plays into the homemade, "put together" aesthetic. The suit and cowl were not designed together in tandem - hence the difference in style.
The more i look at it, the more i realize its a modern version of the 1939 suit and thats just beautiful.
Same! There's something very intimidating and "alive" about it.I love the way the shoulder armor moves with his arms.
What is the obsession with changing the mouth opening? We are getting the most comic accurate mouth opening to date and it seems it's not good enough. Has anyone considered that the mouth opening from the comics does not work in live action? Just because you can draw it does not mean it will look good from all angles in 3d real life. We saw with Keaton that having it open partway across the cheek like that can cause gaping. There must be a reason why both the Nolan and Snyder cowls went for smaller openings. It seems the other option was to go wider and follow the natural edge of the jaw, which still creates the same effect. Why the nitpicking?Simple fix.

IDK. The more I look at that thing, the more I see it as a gun split in half. You can see all the pieces of a gun.I’m not dismissing the theory out of hand, but it’s really funny to me how quickly “the bat-emblem resembles a gun” became a definitive “Batman’s emblem is made from Joe Chill’s gun” in the online discourse.
Like, yeah yeah, Kevin Smith’s story in Detective 1000, sure. But I feel like there’s a big difference between melting down the gun and making something different out of it, and just cutting it up and putting the pieces on your chest.
I really feel like those are batarangs/blades of some sort.
