The BATSUIT Thread

As far as the blue/grey goes, I’m down, but I want it to be handled like BTAS. The suit is really just black and grey, but has hints of blue in the right light

I think it would depend on the color grading.

A blue/gray suit would look killer in a movie graded like Blade Runner 2049.

You just made me a lot more interested in seeing blue and gray.

I want much less "tactical". All those straps, tech elements... Keep it simple. Gadgets on the belt. Sleek sculpted forms, long ears. Don't turn him into budget Iron Man.

Heck yeah.
Agreed. That was my biggest annoyance with the TDK suit. BB had a great look, and most of us were just hoping they would darken the Batsymbol and allow him better neck mobility. They did that...and then added tons of unnecessary distracting detail on it.

Heck, if they had just kept all the straps and segments on the suit one flat dark gray color and made the Batsymbol black, it would have really cut back on the businesses of it.

The legs of the TDK suit are one of the worst design sins I have ever seen.

True, I prefer the Begins suit. But at least TDK's suit looked durable and practical though. Justice League's Batsuit looked fake and flimsy. Whedon didn't know how to set up flattering shots for that suit.

This concept art is a step in the right direction in terms of the aesthetic I'd like for the batsuit:

It's basically a simplified version of the BB suit (though I would obviously like fabric instead of rubber). I don't want it to look too sculpted and organic ala BvS/JL, but I also don't want it over-designed to hell and back like TDK.

I'm not sure about lenses on the cowl as a constant feature. I like seeing Bruce Wayne's eyes. Keaton spoiled me.

Simply wonderful.

I think one of the darron arronosky batman suits would work. I've always been interested in that project to be honest.

I have always said I would like lenses by simply giving the actor all white contact lenses. This still allows a range of emotion to be displayed by seeing the narrowing or widening of the eye, and you can explain the lenses as some kind of high tech eye protection that also gives bio reads and the like.

I think you can be tactical without being techy. Or more say paramilitary. I'm not saying use this exact design, but it's an example of what I'm talking about. There's nothing robotic about it, but the gear looks real - it doesn't look like slick movie prop design.

This is amazing.

I want a new suit to be hockey based. Sort of what Risso did in Broken City... armour base, very built upon pad style, with a Kevlar-Chain Metal/Hockey Sweater mashup style. Gritty, realistic with a hint of science.

That same artist had an incredible Joker redesign as well

I always loved his joker design, I pictured adrian brody as this version. As for the batsuit, something within this vein would be my choice.

Do I have to say it?

“What gives you the right? What’s the difference between you and me?”

“I’m not wearing hockey pads.”

Let’s talk the belt. I think the Affleck suit had a nice belt, but I prefer a more ornate design

This is a good mash between tactical + comic booky IMO. Purple gloves would be kind of a cool throwback even if just for a scene.

The belt on the picture on the right is beautiful, love the ‘89 inspired buckle

Love this belt as well, mostly because of the buckle, but the capsules look great as well

I always liked the combination of the capsules and the pouches for the belt with a circular buckle. A yellow belt is an absolute must. The suit can work with a black or brown belt, but the yellow just brings the design together, especially if the suit features the oval symbol, as it compliments the yellow there as well.

I really like the look of the suit on this statue.

That's just way too damn perfect. Simplify it, go with something like this. Enough of the militarized SWAT-team guy takes, it was lame in The Dark Knight/Rises in the first place.

Affleck's look is great, but if they want to mix it up a bit for Reeve's flick, this take would be bananas. Really classic & iconic.

Yeah that statue is beautiful. Only thing I don't like is the belt. The cowl is fantastic though, love that shade of grey paired with the oval symbol.

The only changes I'd made to the Noel suit are: separate the emblem from the cape, and ditch the jagged/angular lines on the suit for more organic curves. But even as is it's pretty great.
