The BATSUIT Thread

It's one of those things I can't fully explain. Maybe it's because of certain design choices made (chunky neck, beer gut), but the BvS/JL suits just don't do it for me much anymore. Frankly, I'd take that Batfleck concept above in a heartbeat.

It feels good to see someone else say it. The Batfleck suit never did much for me. It's fine, but never got the hype. Teh puffy. :oldrazz:

I think if I appreciate anything with this suit, it's the ability for Pattinson and his stunt double to actually move quite fluidly/effortlessly. He can run, jump, fight, etc, and not have that stiffness to his movement. I love and appreciate elements from the Batfleck suit, but this one to me feels more practical/functional (while also looking good).

I love this concept for the cowl. I hope they can incorporate some of the designs in the sequel. Gives Pattinson the ability to protect his identity. The multi layer is a cool idea.

Honestly, I love the cowl design there once it's on - but this whole opening up like Iron Man's helmet isn't my thing.

That's why I never liked Arkham Knight Batman because I'm a bit fatigued of Batman's suits becoming more Iron Man than Batman.

I love BvS suit. Loved it since the first pic. IMO it's the classic black and grey done right. Having said that, it's far from perfect, cuz yeah, Affleck's too puffy, and ears and mouth opening are too small. Oh and the logo could be leaner too.
Pattinson's grew on me so hard, I hated it from those stunt pics but seeing in motion is beautiful. The lighting Reeves used on it, specially at the club scenes, worked greatly. And the tactical look is awesome, much more believable than any other batsuit we had.
I'm so happy with it and hope the next one keeps almost everything. Even the collar, it's so iconic now and so beautiful. Talk about a 180 turn of opinion :funny:

I still think BVS suit is the best. It looks good even in non-movie lighting and unflattering angles. This suit and cowl looks pretty good in carefully lit scenes but can look pretty goofy in normal settings.

I like Afflecks suit exclusively in stills and only in certain stills at that. Didn't like either JL suit. Didn't love Any of Bales suits, the 89 suit is my favorite (before Pattinsons) if I had to choose but even that one I don't particularly LOVE. Pattinsons is my favorite by a mile.

Seeing both suits side by side…imo the bvs suit is still superior. Its a work of art. But i like that the pat suit used many „real life“ components - easier for cosplayers :D I do hope the suit evolves in the next movies though.

If only the Affleck suit ever actually looked that good on Affleck.

The dedication to Miller/TDKR visuals hamstrung the whole effort.

It’s kinda funny looking at that picture and seeing the cowl have a neck, because it didn’t seem like it had a neck when Ben was wearing it. Just a big head.

And the suit for The Batman looks so good on Pattinson in the film. So damn good. Better than any mannequin shot we see of it. And I love Batman suits that look like they could actually exist, while still being 100% Batman. And the cape is so great. To me it’s the best leather cape they’ve done for Batman. It moves as well as the Nolan cape, which i absolutely adore.

This is how Batfleck should've looked in the films... much, much better.
With Battinson is the opposite: he looks better in the movie haha.

Affleck's batsuit was basically a very very expensive cosplay of the comics' Batsuit.

What's FCKIN great.

But never looked at its best in the movie.

It was so so obvious how fake those muscles were 'cause they used another person as the body model, not Affleck.

I've never loved the Dark Knight Returns costume and bulky short-eared Batman outside of that particular story. It suits the very specific themes and imagery that Miller was going for there, but it doesn't have much appeal to me outside of it. It also doesn't help that Snyder in his extreme machismo fails to see or adapt the human elements of the design. It is supposed to be an aging Batman who is coming out of retirement. The bulkiness is because Bruce is an older man and not in the same shape he was in his prime. Miller omitted the elaborate musculature seen in art at the time depicting a prime Batman for a reason. That Batman is an aging prize fighter like Ali in the late 70s or Rocky in Rocky Balboa. He is thicker, softer, and has to rely on brute force because he's lost his speed and stamina. The blocky chest symbol and short ears on the cowl reflect that.

Snyder doesn't understand any of that (just like he didn't understand most of the subtext of Watchman and the way the costumes there are not supposed to be flattering). Instead, in his Randian quest to make everything badass and ubermensch, gives this aging, bulky Batman ridiculously defined muscles that rival Superman's. Without steroids, a human being can either be a bear mode tank or some lean, ripped Bruce Lee type... Not both.

On top of that you have the technical execution... They brought back the aging foam latex from 89' through Begins, which was already showing its age a decade earlier. Regardless of their attempts to add textures or pretend it was some sort of fabric pulled taut over rippling muscle, it never look like anything else other than what it was, a highly artificial and constricting rubber suit. And Affleck, already an actor of limited talents, failed to look anything other than constipated due to the way the heavy rubber cowl crushed his face.

Pattinson's suit is light years ahead and understands that comics and live action are entirely different media. With its effective use of strategically located armour plating, miliary cloth undershirt, lightness and flexibility, it does a much better job of conveying the Batsuit's comics attributes in live action. It gives Pattinson added bulk in the right places while maintaining an overall tall and lean silhouette like Neal Adams' best work.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. The obsession with comic accuracy has halted a lot of live action costume designs in my opinion. I love utilitarian approaches to superhero suits that still manage to retain their iconic aesthetic. Captain America’s suit in The First Avenger is another solid example of this.

Affleck looked his best in the suicide squad cameo. They struck the finest balance then. By JL they started adding unnecessary bs on his suit again. And he looked very puffy in the suit.

I dont even know why to have a Rubber suit so big.

Affleck is tall as heck and he was on a great shape.

No need for Batman to have a Hulk body-type and he was an old Man, goddamn.

A slim BvS' batsuit would be so great.

Rods on his gauntlet confirmed as bo-shuriken. I like the concept but would prefer batarangs. Woulda been nice to see him use them.

That looks actually pretty neat imo, i like that.
I still prefer the Battinson suit, but if we ever get a Raimi or so Batman...i could see this kind of style working.
This is stuff were i do get this tingling in the fingers for what a Affleck Solo Batman movie could have been.

I kind of love the wrist mounted grapple guns even though they are visually a little too close to web-shooters.
