The BATSUIT Thread

What are the differences in #2 to the current one in The Batman?

The suit IMO is the best we've seen onscreen. Those close-ups only solidify that--thanks for posting @DKDetective. I just rewatched last night and only just noticed all the bullets in the Cave from him testing out his equipment.

the grapple gun being attached to his gauntlet is such a good idea and cool visual design i'm surprised the previous movies didn't come up with it first.

Agreed. My only real complaint with that aspect is the fact that the grapnel gun in his thigh holster never got used. Probably makes sense to do away with it, as cool as it looks, for that reason

did he use it in the final act when he double fisted grapple guns to take out two of the riddler goons?

or was that another gauntlet-attached grapple gun?

The thing In his thigh holster isn't a grapple gun, one of the statues thought it was but later merch and one of the bts videos show its a sticky bomb gun

I'm almost certain you see him release two gauntlet-attached grapnel guns.

Really? I didn't know that. Would certainly make sense, it's not a completely new gadget to use. I do kinda wish they found use for it in the movie though.

Schumacher is the blueprint.

Although I am rather partial to the traditional handheld grapple guns (well, not really traditional since they are only as old as I am, being introduced in Batman '89), Reeves' version actually makes more practical sense in that having the gun attached to the gauntlet (and therefore integrated into the suit) takes the force off of Batman's hand/grip during any rapid ascensions and gives a more secure connection.

The collar really needs to stay IMO. It's such a perfect addition to the design in live action.

Personally I really hope Reeves and Co. opt to follow the path of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man here and only ever make minor changes to the suit here and there in future films. It's an incredible design across the board and I really think it'd be a mistake to tinker with it too much.

I wouldn't mind seeing a angled, slightly tighter and/or form fitting collar to create a silhouette shape like that of Tim Sale's Batman here. It can still be noticeable and recognizable but also streamlined.

I do prefer the gauntlet attached system for the reasons you just listed and simply because it looks cool as hell

But having the thigh holster there to me is kinda like giving an action hero an RPG on his back. It would've been nice to see it be used

...the arm grappling guns also curb the debate about Batman holding onto a "gun" and swinging through the city is very impractical, not plausible with any sort of upper body strength.

When these being attached and the whole system built into the suit leads credibility into the whole suit/body is putting the weight into grappling around.

Yeah, exactly. This is exactly what I meant, but you put it much more clearly. To be fair, both Burton and Nolan attempted to address the issue in their first films by having Bruce secure the grapple gun to his utility belt:

But it was too cumbersome and artificial of an action that disrupted the pacing of those action scenes. It makes sense why they abandoned it in later entries.

Crazy how much her vibe completely changes depending on hairstyle.

I just hope he doesn't have a drastically different suit in the sequel. I understand it's early and everything is a work in progress, but it's beautiful.

If anything I hope for a TDKR situation where that suit looked miles better to me than it did in TDK. I think Bale lost a little too much weight for TDK, so maybe that's what it was, but it looked much better, specifically the cowl.

I can honestly say I’ve never noticed a difference between how the suit looked in TDK and TDKR.

If anything I thought the suit looked worse in TDKR because it's kinda abundantly clear it wasn't meant to be seen in daytime conditions nor used in colder weather, resulting in the Bale mouth breathing.

TDK suit looked better in Rises, indeed... and I was happy they kept it, wish Reeves does the same for the sequel (who knows? He's got WB trust afterall).
