Kill me daddy
I could get on board with it returning to the comics.Heh, much as it's never ever gonna happen, I could totally get on board with seeing the original cowl shape on screen.
They're just never gonna do it.
Actually I like that, but instead of purple gloves. I'd like to see the inside of the cape dark purple. To enrich the costume and nod to the purple gloves.
A bit of batman 1939.
Since this is early Batman we're talking about..

One can dream...
Well, that would certainly invoke the creepy imagery. Especially if those eyes are illuminated at night.![]()
Something like this would be perfect as well.
Or if it's an expressive cowl.Well, that would certainly invoke the creepy imagery. Especially if those eyes are illuminated at night.
I kinda hope they go with the original cowl now
This could work. And if they REALLY wanted to, they could totally do it practicallyOr if it's an expressive cowl.
Make the lenses the same material that is used for Spider-Man's lenses, then CGI to make it expressive in subtle enough ways and well, let's just say that criminals are definitely gonna be having nightmares.
Reeves is a fan of the early Batman? That's certainly encouraging!Man, this more classic cowl would REALLY differentiate Matt Reeve's Batman from other incarnation
And the expressive-white eyes work better on a cowl as demonic looking as that one because the entire thing looks animalistic enough that suddenly watching its eyes move and be entirely white doesn't feel out of place. Especially if they are the same material as Spider-Man's eyes.
I really, really want him to go in this direction. Reeeves did say he was a fan of Bob Kane/Bill Finger early work. I hope he takes the aesthetic...

Eh. By instinct, people look at the eyes. If a big black bat creature is grabbing you, with completely white eyes that on top of that gesticulate looking angry, that's gonna give you like a trillion reasons to think it's a demon creature and not a dude in a costume. Is that supposed to...look good, or something?
Why would Bats even need emoting lenses, if they go the lens route? The guy's about theatricality, sure, but that's taking it to an extreme. He's not going to bother engineering moving eyes into the damn thing just for...expression's sake. Let alone when they can see the bottom half of his face in the first place, a pretty big part of...you know, emoting.
"He's screaming in my face from three inches away while grabbing me by the throat! But I can't tell if he's angry with me, static eyes!"
It's all part of the illusion. If a criminal is staring into huge white eyes and they blink right back at him, that's going to create a very creepy, uncanny valley effect and this is the entire point as Bruce Wayne is suppose to appear as MORE than human. The "You're just a man in a mask" deconstruction no longer works because the mask is no longer a "mask". It's an organic part of this "Bat creature" that swoops criminals up in the dead of night. Is that supposed to...look good, or something?

Let this be the first to fix that.Aside from being better able to breathe that's probably the whole reason the bottom of his mask is open.
I actually quite like the second one. I wouldn't mind a suit inspired by Bob Kane/Bill Finger at all. It's fitting considering this is Batman in his early years

(I actually own this figure btw)
I love the cowl and bat symbol on the original design
Ah, I guess this makes more sense. But then again, Begins had a full torso sculpt View attachment 21491
I think it could have also been the fact that his cape envelops his body. Maybe we weren't meant to see the sides or back.
This isn't a fetish thread. Cut it out.Plz daddy
A lot of people in this thread would hate it but I'd love a suit like that.
