The BATSUIT Thread

I also remember the nonstop "grey can't work, because it's not realistic enough" debates.
To this day, one of the most maddening debates I had ever been a part of. And that's coming from someone who was also involved in the great "permawhite" debate of 2007.

they don't have to be trunks, they can just do what they did for Nite Owl in Watchmen by just breaking the colors up a bit.

its less underpants and more of a built in design. In many ways, the nit owl suit is the perfect template for a traditional batman suit. has the retractable cowl which would be awesome to see as well.

I mean, those still look like trunks. The Arkham Origins suit did a much better job of incorporating a design that homages the trunks without going full-on like City and Asylum.

I agree about the cowl, that's something we need to see. I would like the cowl to be completely revaluated for this movie. Time to move away from rubber, emotionless cowls imo

Yeah, I'd say Arkham Origins had the most clever way of creating the illusion of trunks (i.e. gray armor pieces strapped over a black undersuit). It was basically a better execution of the TDK suit concept.

TDK-suit is the Suit That Shall Not Be Named in this thread.

I was just about to post that image. I love the rebirth emblem/color for the symbol. It’s a little busier than I would like but that looks like a perfect blend of a tatical mix with BVS’ aesthetic.

I hope we get something close to this.

Batman Begins is a good baseline for how far I would take the tech-armor design approach:

Anything beyond that (as seen in TDK and Arkham Knight) is where I feel it's gone too far into the Iron-Bats territory.

I prefer Arkham Knight.

I just can't see the reason as to why Bruce wouldn't use armor. I just can't.

No argument was ever made about not having armor.

The real question is, "why would Batman announce he has armor via exaggerated armor design?". And as a follow-up question, "what even is the purpose of the Batman outfit if it's clearly just a glorified military uniform at first glance?"

Fans are fine with armor. It makes sense. What the actual issue is whether that should be immediately visible, and overtake the simple design philosophy of a literal bat-man.

Eh. Batman will always look intimidating on the shadows so whatever, I think the purpose of a more militaristic batsuit is so that he doesn't look ridiculous while standing next to Gordon and civilians.

I think it's more that filmmakers are unsure a faithful Batsuit can work on-screen. Thankfully Snyder blew that out of the water. And while I do want a newer design away from Batfleck, it's a huge step in the right direction.

If only they could have made the BB suit as sleek as it looked in the concept art. It looks so good in that artwork.

For Reeves' batsuit, I am envisioning something similar to Captain America's suit, but a bit sleeker and more form-fitting. I just have a hunch his suit will be more fabric and less foam latex.

I'm pretty into these. The first two have variations in that I tried to simplify the lines on the suit. I actually dig the slightly more tech fabric look myself - I think the "gray painted directly on skin" look from the comics is a little silly looking when photoreal. The definition in the texture adds something. This is w/ Robert Pattinson as my base for Batman (not my top pick but I think he'd nail it and people seem to dig it; he's got a marquee name and familiar face which would be good for everybody). But blueish black for the cape and cowl and gray for the suit all day every day. Gotta have the white eyes, and articulated brow movement like Deadpool. Patman.png BatPat3.png BatPat2.png
