The BATSUIT Thread

I love so much of what Bermejo does with his Batsuits, but that chest logo attached to the cape remains a horrible thing.

Agreed. That’s the only part that bothers me (although less than it did). Otherwise that’s a very practical looking suit that is built to translate to the screen, even sans my beloved lenses ;)

I don't mind it so much in 2D, but something we learned from B89, is that attaching the cape to the chest symbol really limits movement, especially in terms of how the cape lies over the shoulders.

Rewatching Batman: TAS and I definitely want the oval back. Also would love it if they just had some "armor" underneath the suit but kept the suit looking like cloth with minimal ab definition.

It depens on what kind of material they use for the cape and the cowl

Bermejo is one of the great comic artists, his Joker is absolutely iconic. But his designs for Superman and Batman don’t really work for me at all.

Just please, make sure and sculpt it so it looks good from all angles. Ben’s only looked good looking down from an angle. Upfront it was flat, boring, and chubby.

Keaton’s ears (Adam’s-esque) x Bale’s brow...

w/ Cox’s Daredevil mouth/tendency to half hard/soft material x Deadpool’s eyes.

It shouldn’t be this hard to create the BTAS mask in live action these days after Deadpool and Homecoming.
Affleck's suit was literally the two-faced girl Jerry dated on Seinfeld. Sometimes it would look great. Sometimes it was like "Those are some lovely chins you've got there, Ben."

Yeah, I'm sure some material would be better, but even if you go with a more flexible cloth-like material, just the nature of fixing the cape to a point on the front of the chest makes for natural restrictions in the shoulder area. I mean, just think about how little Keaton ever raised his arms above his head in his fight sequences. Granted, that cape was clearly heavy material, but still.

Even though I like a cap that covers the shoulders for the silhouette, it can really hamper movement. So I think it's something that would be troublesome overall.

But, if they can find a way to make it work and not limit the actor and stunt performers, then I'd be okay with it.

I had a dream the other night of Keaton in the Returns suit, but with the Batman Begins cape...

Love the pouches on the belt. Could do without the second emblem, though.

We can go round and round on the subject of belts, colors, ear length, fabrics, lenses, emblems, etc. but after Affleck (and Bale too, tbh), my big thing is just wanting a good mouth opening on the cowl.

What I'd like to see them do is make a cowl that doesn't cover the nostrils and jaw.

What about a cowl like this?

Yes please.

I believe most of the cinematic cowls were sculpted around the under-jaw of the actors, and I believe they had covered the nostrils as well. That's part of the reason why I think Bale sounded so odd at times in the suit, and why he always seems like he was mouth-breathing. The guy simply couldn't breathe through his nose.

I also think sculpting around the jaw plays into the mobility issues the cowls are notorious for.

I feel like Wilkinson gave Nite Owl a pretty decent mouth opening, I don't know why his Batman cowl looked so suffocating...

Just saying, a silicone cowl would solve these problems nicely. You could still have nose covering and allow an actor to breathe.

But I actually want the nostrils uncovered. I just prefer how that looks.
